Game looks like it's fun.. |

I barely made it through the first couple of minutes. Hard to take Sid seriously in that outfit. |

Maybe he should of had a Sony shirt on. |
Cities: Skylines has been released is getting some pretty good reviews so far (88 metacritic).
Anyone bite yet? |

Just bit, downloading now :D |
Downloading Cities. I was surprised at the high ratings, and fully expected another shallow, mediocre Sim City-type affair.
|
I have it. Judgement withheld until I force myself to stop restarting. :)

Looks interesting but not sure how much replay. But for $15 I'll get it. |
yeah, that's definitely a future buy.

Maybe he should take his shit more seriously after the pile of shit his studio released a few months ago, souring even the more hardy of Sid fans. |
Can't really be that hardy of fans if one release soured them. BTW, when exactly did it turn into, as you put it, a pile of shit?

I've only messed with it for a couple hours, but I can easily say it sure as hell ain't shallow. |
Can't wait to get into C:S starting tomorrow evening. I've watched enough Let's Play videos where I feel like I've already put some time into this one. :D
|
Spent about 4 hours on it C:S tonight. Really liking it. Very deep. Not all that intuitive tho. Going to restart a new city now that I have a better feel as what to do.
|
So tempted to get C:S, but it 's going to be a sale buy for me.
|
Yikes, where did the night go. Fired up C:S, 5 hours later I'm crawling into bed.
|
Definitely going to grab this on a sale.
I've read the traffic is horribly broken right now. |
Apparently it's a problem with lane switching (aka cars aren't properly utilizing multi-lane roads in certain circumstances) that's being worked on.
|
I can definitely refute traffic being broken. In a very late game scenario where youre using 6 lane freeways, then it is broken-ish true (what CF said), but even then it doesnt effect gameplay drastically. You might of read a review of an older version, which traffic was broken in most cases. It works really impressively now imo.
This is a game where you just cant throw down 2 lane roads all over, every single one has a major impact on traffic habits. So far, this has been worth every cent of my 30$ |

:p:lol: |
Eh, show me a six-lane highway that ISN'T broken...
|
Traffic doesn't seem like a huge issue to me. Have a feeling those reviewers complaining haven't played the game much or are doing something wrong.
I mean there needs to be some tweaking from the devs but it's not that bad. Just go big on public transportation and don't put stop lights too close to the highways where it forms a bottleneck. |
Finally got an all gold team run the table and won it all in Frozen Cortex, so now I have the additional unlocks.
I must admit it was very frustrating and I did several restarts due to poor set-ups or starting the season off against far better teams like Heavy Perspective or the Army before my team could manage. I still feel I made some sound tactics only to be duped by unexpected moves, but I do enjoy have to really think on multiple levels: setting the offense without not having a defensive anchor and setting up a defense where you can get the ball forward if there is a turnover. Positioning can be a hassle, I would like to understand why it sets players up like it does and if you can pick from a list in the future. I also read they'll let you set your robots up in a set lineup. I hate purchasing a great player only to find him in the worst position (a high speed runner stuck in the back holding a defensive line; a strong slow blocker as the closest ball runner on offense). The storyline didn't grab me-corruption in the league. I would hate to think outside influences could impact strategy. Probably in a future DLC or expansion, it would be nice to be able to upgrade your robot rather than purchase a new model to replace. Otherwise, a fun little game. Now I'm focusing on C:S, with the debacle that is the Philly Eagles, I wanted something non rushed that I can build and try to attend some Zen-like state. |
Ugh, Sid Meier's Starships has gotten some pretty mediocre reviews thus far. I can only assume that even his most loyal die-hard fans are abandoning him in droves now.
Looks like I'll go back to playing Cities today, which thankfully is doing quite well: Cities: Skylines breaks Paradox' day-one sales records - PC Gamer |

What are the additional unlocks? |

Firaxis is playing the game all-day on its Twitch channel-my first view of the game is favorable-I like how combat is run, ship manufacture seems easy to do-they have a variety of win types-including a wonders type which could be interesting. Also you should log-in to Beyond Earth if on Steam to get a patch that will connect Beyond Earth to the new game since Starships is based in the Beyond Earth universe. There's also a new glacier map for B:E if you have both games and log into your MY2K account. |
Has anyone picked up Hotline Miami 2 yet?

It's a $15 game, what do people expect a full blown 4x game with the depth of Civ and Civ BE? I'll play it tonight and post some impressions but I'm not expecting a super deep game here. |
Quote:
I have. But I have not yet played it. |
Quote:
That can be my biggest gripe against the game. I have lost several games strictly because of positioning. Had several games where I would get the ball 1st but the defense was positioned where they could get two players right on top of my player that picked up the ball that any throw would be picked off and no chance of running. I generally try to throw the interception to the player that I think my thrower could potentially tackle on the next turn. |

Looks like they go the servers rebooted.

Is Frozen Cortex similar to Blood Bowl? Does it have career/league play vs the PC?
|
Getting my butt handed to me in Starships on medium difficulty. Very simplistic turn based ship combat with a tad of some 4x elements.
|
Quote:
Same here. Plan on starting it up once I beat Shovel Knight tonight though. |

It has league play vs the computer. You take over a team of sub par robots and try to take them to the top of an 8 team league. You play each other team twice, then the top 3 or 4 teams go into the playoffs. There is no career mode as of yet. There aren't really any stats tracked, though that would be nice. You improve your team by purchasing new robot models with your winnings from the games you play. You can also bet on games to try and win a little extra cash. It is set up to eventually include online MP leagues. That is what I am waiting for. |
Just an FYI, but we are releasing both WMMA3 and TEW2010 on Steam this Thursday. It's kind of a low risk trial balloon for us to see the sales interest. Here are the pages for those interested:
WMMA3: World of Mixed Martial Arts 3 on Steam TEW2010: Total Extreme Wrestling on Steam |

Congrats Arles! Hope you get good results! |

For those who have tried these do you have a preference? Have had it in the back of my mind to try something like this despite not really following either sport in years. And on Steam is probably enough to get me to bite on one. |
TEW is a game that I've always wanted to just get totally absorbed in, but it's been WMMA that is my all time highest played game on record.
|
TEW is the more popular of the two. Wrestling translates pretty well to the whole promotion genre. If you are a big MMA fan, the universe for WMMA might be a plus too. If you don't have a preference between Wrestling and MMA, I'd probably give TEW a look first. Both games have been pretty well received, though.
|
I am a fan of MMA so I will give WMMA a look.
|
Quote:
Can I act shocked... :) Not sure how many times I have seen ... is playing WMMA 4 :) |
dola: I wish it was WMMA 4 that was being released. May try TEW though.
|
I have both TEW 2013 and WMMA 4, wish I could have them on Steam...
|
Problem with Steam is the margins. We just don't make as much as from the site. So, selling a game directly on Steam off the bat just doesn't make financial sense. Over time, we may transition games over, but (unless we just sell a ton on steam) there will usually be a bit of a delay between release and Steam (even best case).
