Yep. It seems like a waste all around, including a wasted scan.

VOTE JAIL PASS

I'm not on the steamroll BK bandwagon, and I've seen Pass be a pretty good wolf.

Autumn 06-08-2009 03:04 PM

Right, I think we need to treat jail as a possible added bonus, but the vote as a regular lynch.

Which means we need some other viable candidates. Pass I believe just said he's out, which makes me not want to vote for him, or for Clap really since Pass's vote is stuck there. I'm just going to pick someone I haven't heard anything from then.

VOTE KWHIT FOR JAIL

The Jackal 06-08-2009 03:13 PM

Well I'm in the midst of some ridiculous travel with amtrak, heavy delays, I won't be able to catch up on the thread until at least 8 so I'm gonna miss the king vote unless I get something in here:

elect hoops king

I haven't been able to see how the discussion has gone today and my phone is loading this ultra slow so I'm just gonna get my vote on someone who I trust to make good decisions. Hed make a devious wolf-king but it seems like our kings will be very scrutinized (and/or have short life spans if they aren't wolves). Ill check back in as soon as I get home to see how things went and decide on lynch/jail or whatever were moving towards

Schmidty 06-08-2009 03:39 PM

To me, voting hoops or Danny could be all or nothing decision. If they're good, it improves our chances immensely, but if they're bad, we're in trouble big time.

Just saying.

DaddyTorgo 06-08-2009 03:41 PM

king vote is 7pm?

I guess I should get one in before i leave for home then in like 20 mins.

MartinD 06-08-2009 03:45 PM

Given that it looks like we're going for the 'jail' option rather than 'lynch' today, it's probably worth a look at how jail works.

Quote:

Woebegone prison is not a place that ANYONE would look forward to going. For game purposes players may be jailed rather than lynched. While in prison the prisoners fate is in the hands of the king. There is a 20% chance each night that a prisoners aura will be revealed to the king. The king may choose to free or execute up to one prisoner each night, although he does not have to decide a prisoners fate on any night he/she chooses not to do so.
The 20% chance of a 'free' scan has been discussed already, but I don't think that anyone has mentioned the king's ability to either set a prisoner free or send him to the local equivalent of the hangman's noose.

Quote:

The prison may also be attacked by The Dark One and his followers or guarded by The Order of Righteousness.
One thing that isn't mentioned here (but is mentioned elsewhere in the initial rules post) is that the Order of Righteousness cannot guard the prison on consecutive nights.

(Well, that's what I'm assuming - the rules post has 'May not guard the prison on consecutive.' Dubb - could you please say if I'm interpreting this correctly?)

Quote:

Players inside the jail may be scanned by the seer and may only be night killed by The Dark One himself. Players in the jail do not count towards victory conditions.
Not immediately relevant, but worth bearing in mind (particularly for the player who's playing the role of Arbitro, or if the Dark One is killed early on in the game).

Quote:

Players inside the jail may not post in thread but may submit a story to the GM via PM each night. This can be anything. Can be a reveal/fake reveal/analysis of the day, anything that prisoner chooses to put into the story will be published in the newspaper following night actions. The prisoner's name will be attached to the story.
This is different to the two articles we'll be seeing from Diffama Fabula (where one will be written by the real Ms Fabula, the other by the Dark One) - we will know who has written any prisoner articles. (I see this as the prisoner(s) can only communicate with one letter to the newspaper each day.

It's also worth pointing out something from a bit further down the rules post - newspaper articles from prisoners are only published if the prisoner is still alive and in prison at the end of the night actions.

Quote:

If the jail is attacked by The Dark One and his followers all prisoners inside are freed regardless of light or dark aura.
In other words, don't just assume that the prisoners released on a Dark One-inspired jail break are automatically wolves...

Quote:

The players in prison also lose all powers to them granted by their private role while they are in prison except The Dark One who is both cunning and brutal while in prison.
In particular, this means that the seer can't carry out any scans if they get jailed.

Not sure if this adds much to the discussion, but thought that it was worth bringing this forward from the first page, and going through in a bit more detail.

DaddyTorgo 06-08-2009 03:48 PM

*sigh* wtf is with people today?

earlier i had my clients call and bitch at me because the guy on the other end of the conference call i setup for them was an idiot. not my fault he wanted the call.

and just now i had another client call looking for my coworker/boss (who's headed to NYC to meet them tomorrow). I said 'oh he's left' and the guy (who's been on vacation in europe for 2 weeks) flippantly replied "aren't normal business hours until 5pm?" I was like "yeah but he's headed down to nyc tonight to meet someone there."

Now idk - maybe second client was trying to be funny, but since I hate people it came off as pissy to me.

*stabs people*

DaddyTorgo 06-08-2009 03:49 PM

thanks MrD.

MartinD 06-08-2009 03:52 PM

I'm done for the day after this, so had better post my lynch/jail vote...

I don't want to introduce a new candidate, and I don't want to jump on the Barkeep bandwagon (although the quick king vote for Schmidty is mildly suspicious to me). That leaves using my vote to try to stop the current one-horse race, and Pass is the obvious candidate.

VOTE PASSACAGLIA JAIL

There is no other reason or ulterior motive for this vote - just the reasoning I've given above.

Apologies for not being able to participate more today, but I've had a busy day and need an early night.

The prison may not be guarded or attacked on consecutive nights.

VOTE SCHMIDTY KING

Willing to give him the benefit of the doubt, and we always have the option of cycling through kings.

Danny 06-08-2009 03:59 PM

Pass' game so far has been very unlike his last two games when he was a wolf and he's gone for the day, so I don't think I am going there with my vote.

Tyrith 06-08-2009 04:19 PM

This is going to be random regardless, so I'm not going to overthink it and instead give it to someone who wants it for understandable, if not game related, reasons.

VOTE SCHMIDTY KING

Tyrith 06-08-2009 04:28 PM

My inclination is to vote for Pass and turn this into a straight race, but I'm not sure how much this tells us - most likely case is villager/villager, and races make people reveal roles too early.

Autumn 06-08-2009 04:37 PM

Since the lynch deadline is so late I'll keep my vote on KWhit for now. He's not getting any traction, but for the reasons I stated before I don't really want to pile on Pass or Clap.

Tyrith 06-08-2009 04:39 PM

Clap's actions strike me as really silly, but that isn't an unusual thought in that regard.

hoopsguy 06-08-2009 04:54 PM

I think I'll be here with plenty of time between now and the deadline so I'll wait until later to take an action. I'll be voting jail/king, fwiw.

Just remember king deadline is at 7 and jail at 11

Schmidty 06-08-2009 05:10 PM

I'm going to go mow the lawn. I should be around in an hour and a half or so.

Lathum 06-08-2009 05:14 PM

I hope I don't end up in jail with Schmidty as king, he will probably off me after last game :)

Danny 06-08-2009 05:20 PM

Kwhit and Path yet to check in I believe

Long Live the King!

Lathum 06-08-2009 06:04 PM

umm, didn't we need a majority for Schmidty to be King?

dubb93 06-08-2009 06:05 PM

On the eight day of the sixth month of the thousandth year the people of Metou elected Schmidty to be their king.

Schmidty took the crown that night in the great hall of kings with the face of every king in history staring at him from the walls. Schmidty was the eleventh king to take the throne. The longest reign in history was King Maxumus. His reign lasted nearly 60 years long....well 57 to be exact.

King Maxumus was a great man. He stood nearly seven feet tall. During his reign Metou nearly doubled in land mass to its current size of 70,000 square miles as Maxumus waged a very successful campaign into territory controlled by Metou's sworn enemies.

Maxumus died in his sleep at the age of 94. When Maxumus died Metou was said to be in a golden age thanks to his leadership.

The shortest reign is the history of Metou was King Dubb93. His reign lasted just two short years. During his reign Metou lived in fear of The Dark One. Murders more than trippled, the economy fell apart and eventually The Dark One himself was even able to murder King Dubb93.

When The Dark One murdered King Dubb93 Metou was said to be a great depression brought on by King Dubb93's reluctance to wage war on The Dark One.

Where will the reign of King Schmidty fall on the list of great kings of Metou? Will he end up near the top like King Maxumus? Or will he be towards the bottom with King Dubb93?

Honestly there's probably not much of my game to judge today, really. I was pretty busy today, and not able to really 'play' as much as I wanted to today. Most likely will be the case tomorrow as well, so I don't mind being jailed FWIW.

lerriuqs 06-08-2009 06:19 PM

Crap, I have to drop a vote, running to the next job. From what I have read, I like jailing over lynching today, for reasons mentioned.

VOTE JAIL BARKEEP

Tyrith 06-08-2009 06:38 PM

Didn't show up so far, don't want it to be all BK all the time. If either KWhit or path doesn't show up I would much rather jail them than BK, and will switch to make this happen. Otherwise I will probably switch to Pass when I get back (two hours or so) in order to try to limit a runaway.

VOTE JAIL KWHIT

Schmidty 06-08-2009 06:42 PM

I would like to thank my agent - Jerry Maguire, my my braintrust - the Soggy Bottom Boys, and most of all - You, my loyal subjects. I promise that I will rule with justice and compassion.

May our kingdom live forever!!!!

(and don't lynch me tomorrow)

Schmidty 06-08-2009 06:48 PM

I don't really think jailing and then scanning is the best course of action, and I also don't like the idea of jailing the guy who first supported me, so I'm choosing from someone who missed the vote for King:

Vote lynch Kwit

path12 06-08-2009 06:54 PM

OK, get to work, sign in, log onto FOFC, fuck. Blocked. If I'd known I would have dropped, because I think it's not fair to the other players plus too hard to really keep up myself with my evening schedule.

Anyway, catching up. Just now saw my role, which is villager so if I'm up for vote since I haven't shown up yet it's no big loss.

hoopsguy 06-08-2009 06:56 PM

I'll follow Passacaglia's suggestion on jailing him in light of his schedule tomorrow. Note that I made the same suggestion earlier (willing to accept a jailing) because of my schedule, so I'll support him in his endeavor.

VOTE JAIL PASSACAGLIA
