if you want something close to a turn based ARPG, grab the Midnight Islands DLC, allows a custom built party (so you can try out every character idea you want), and over three campaigns across numerous islands, you'll see an interesting campaign (although naturally a bit sparse, considering 95% of it is procedurally generated enemies, etcetera)

i've been curious about this series myself. I've head they are really fun and super tongue in cheek fighting games or something. I picked up one of em already.

If you turn into a Battletech fan, look up the Battletech Extended: Commander's Edition or BTA 3062 mods. It's MORE Battletech (more canon mechs, different start points in Battletech history, etcetera!)

are you kidding? I've been a dattletech fan since my college days. There was a MUSH/MUSE/whatever of battletech that had programmed actual mech combats and we wasted TONS of time on that on our VAX terminals

I like the current timeline (of Battletech). Look up MegaMek if you want to play the Battletech board game against AI.

Oh.. and in Foz has entirely too many games to play, I had a moment of weakness and bought two NEW strategy games to play, Jagged Alliance 3 and Front Mission: 1st Remake. And of course, Baldur's Gate 3 in two weeks.

the pity about battletech is it has never seemed to get a great computer game for it.

I've only played Yakuza 0 so far (playing chronologically instead of by release date). My biggest complaints are the long cutscenes that can't be skipped afaik, and some of the wonky dialogue. But it's fun and that's all that should matter in a game.
