Yes, it would be wonderful. Fake sports record keeping sounds pretty fucking addicting.

However, I quick-simmed through a season, finished with the worst record and was "kicked out of the league" so I didn't get to see any of the draft or anything like that.

And currently the player stat page is a long list of random shit that I don't really understand, but at least it is a start. I'm envisioning leaderboards down the road... per game averages, so on and so forth.

I'm not feeling it yet, but it is early on. I am going with the free weekend trial, leaning towards not purchasing though.

re: Frozen Cortex

Also, why there is only 8 teams in the season mode is kind of disappointing.

Groundhog 04-19-2015 07:01 AM

Can't seem to successfully finish a game in Frozen Cortex... it hangs when I try to continue after the final results are displayed.

Bobble 04-19-2015 07:03 PM

Anyone played 7 Grand Steps? Looks quirky but might be fun.

I just picked up Banner Saga (how'd I miss this?) and Westerado. Banner Saga is a blast. I'm going to get into Westerado when I have more time to dig in. I have a tendency to get into an RPG game, get distracted by anything else, and then forgeet what I was up to.

I've got a couple of hours in it and when I'm playing it I want to keep going, but when I'm done I wonder what I've done and realize that I could've spent my time playing other things.

It's ok, but I doubt I'll invest much more time in it.

I've found that my favorite endless game was Dungeon of the Endless

Endless Space was really kind of lifeless

Endless Legend I've just haven't felt compelled to put the time in to learn, but there does seem to be a lot of good ideas there.

Dungeon of the Endless hooked me even if some parts feel unfair (such as when my characters kill each other on the elevator screen). It seems to have the most original gameplay of the bunch.

PilotMan 04-21-2015 04:28 PM

Door Kickers got a lot of attention here at one point. It's on sale right now for $9.99.

Capital 04-21-2015 09:48 PM

Anyone playing Lords of Xulima? Great game if you like the Might and Magic party based combat. Probably logged more than 100 hours with the game - highly recommended.

It has been on my list to buy and play, but I haven't pulled the trigger yet due to my big back log of games.

I believe that it's a DLC...if true...I did not do that. I can assure that the main game is a long one and well worth the time and price.

PilotMan 04-23-2015 09:43 PM

I can't believe Steam is going to allow people to start charging for workshop mods and shit. Fucking stupid.

Yuup, total bullshit.

Marmel 04-23-2015 10:02 PM

I see no problem with somebody wanting to make money off their work and if the game publisher is OK with it, who am I to complain?

Groundhog 04-23-2015 10:37 PM

It sucks in that I will be paying for content I got for free....... but on the other hand, people put a lot of time into some of these mods, and if the publishers will allow them to earn money for their efforts, I actually think that's pretty cool.

bhlloy 04-23-2015 11:20 PM

The issue is going to be that it's very quickly going to become a shittier version of early access - people posting garbage and claiming the world, and eventually people won't buy it because the ratings will be terrible, but some people will get burned. I don't like it at all, think it will probably kill the concept.

stevew 04-23-2015 11:32 PM

thanks for the heads up on Skyrim everyone.

Dola, isn't there an anti-spider mod, cause I need to track that down.

Small percent goes to the modders, most goes to Valve and the company that made the game. And there is no oversight with the mods. So lets say I create a kickass mod for $5. Someone just steals it, puts it up and sells it for $1.

RainMaker 04-24-2015 02:18 AM

I mean I think the idea can work, but not the way they are implementing it (just a cash grab). A system where verification is made, maybe it has to surpass a certain download/rating threshold before charging too.

Be warned this is a pretty tough, unforgiving game. But it is fun.

I guess it depends on if you trust Steam to enforce it or not, but it's at least addressed in the FAQ:

"If you upload copyrighted content that you or your contributors do not have the rights to distribute, then you may forfeit all earned revenue from the item, may be liable for damages and compensation, and may be banned from future participation in this Workshop or the Steam Community in general."

Ryno 04-24-2015 09:41 AM

But, yeah, with legit modders only getting 25%, Valve deserves every bit of the backlash they are getting.

jeff061 04-24-2015 09:55 AM

Just means I wont be using workshop. Slightly annoyed, but I can live without it.

As for the cut. Modders are just piggy backing on the company that made the game. If Modders want to make money doing that, fine, but the development studio fairly gets the choice to take the lion share of the cut.

Nothing to do with Valve, I think Valve's cut is relatively small, like their Steam Market they rely on volume.

Draft Dodger 04-24-2015 11:02 AM

I have had hit or miss success with mods. a few have been okay, whereas every single mod I've used in Civ5 seems to crash at some some point. free stuff, that doesn't bother me. if I'd paid for it, though? I'd be pretty darn upset

Ryno 04-24-2015 11:09 AM

It's all speculation at this point, but what I've seen is that Valve is going to take their typical 30%+ cut, which seems asinine. I'm all for the publisher getting a fair amount, but I'm not sure it should be the majority though. They provide the platform, but I don't see it as being much different than games utilizing game engines.

Most modders don't do it for the money anyway, and, while they still have the option, will probably continue to offer them for free. I guess my point is that if someone is going to make money off it, it should be the people who did the work, and not yet another blatant cash grab by Valve.

Wow. Quick about-face on that one.

Valve Cancels Paid Mods For Skyrim

Groundhog 04-27-2015 08:00 PM

I followed the lengthy reddit thread on the paid mods topic, and my view on the whole ordeal is that it's still, in theory, not a bad idea. It was a poor implementation though.

I guess I do not understand what Steam Workshop has anything to do with Skyrim mods when everything is on Nexus.

Tasan 04-28-2015 01:59 AM

Anyone up for some late night GTA V on steam? My buddy and I have just started online, but are looking for fellow chaos makers. Is there a FOFC crew out there already?

Game Developers Can Now Ban Steam Users

stevew 04-30-2015 11:52 AM

Lookout GroundCat

EagleFan 04-30-2015 04:39 PM

That has a good side, for online cheats. The problem will be if it starts being: player gives bad review, player gets banned.

stevew 04-30-2015 09:37 PM

RBI Baseball 15?

MizzouRah 04-30-2015 09:54 PM

Endless Legend DLC, oh baby!

A game developer has no real incentive to ban a player playing his game, certainly not when they plan on releasing furth DLC or games (unless i understand this wrongly, a developer can only ban from the specific game where the violation occured, not the steam account. Correct ?)

To me this seems very logical and isnt this sth that has been handled similarly on xbox/PS ? Also, isnt this simply going back to how it was handled before steam ?

Groundhog 05-02-2015 03:58 AM

If a medieval/fantasy turn-based squad-combat RPG with a Mount and Blade-seque world map sounds like your cup of tea, I heartily recommend Battle Brothers. It feels pretty complete (if a little lacking in content) even as an early access - very few bugs. Insanely high difficulty level, but i'm beginning to learn how to keep my guys alive more often than not. Well, except those darn new recruits, may they frequently rest in pieces...

I might have to try DOE, but Endless Legend is just a fantastic game, probably my favorite 4x game of all time. (I just started a new game with the DLC that just came out, so I can't comment on that yet).

Yes it takes some time to figure out some of it, but it's just so well done, imho. The world feels so alive to me and each race is so unique as well as the minor factions.

Grover 05-05-2015 01:26 PM

Well, that's a lot better than the Goatse simulator.

Planetary Annihilation is 80% off, so it's $6 - anyone play it, worth it for $6?

So someone in Russia tried to log into my steam account.

Screw Putin.

Thanks for posting. Love it when I find a bundle where I don't have any of the games in it.

Ramzavail 05-15-2015 09:27 AM

bought it too. good one.

I also thought the two current humble bundles were pretty good.
