BTW... congratulations!

Travis 10-07-2003 12:35 AM

GB, have you seen Bad Boys II? Excellent scene in that one for dealing with a daughter's prospective date...

Fonzie 10-07-2003 12:37 AM

Congratulations GB! Do your best to get some sleep!

MikeVic 10-07-2003 01:48 AM

Yay, I get to look after a leaky base.... :)

Chief Rum 10-07-2003 02:00 AM

Man, I see that this thread has jumped another page, and I am thinking, "Wow! Some missions and stuff! Cool!", and what do I get?

Godzilla Blitzette?!?

Just kidding, Blitz. ;) Congrats ont he new addition. Your life has just changed forever (you are probably already aware of that).

condors 10-07-2003 05:15 AM

Alf 10-07-2003 08:03 AM

Felicitations Godzilla Blitz !

PS : Alf III finally seeing some action after being held wounded at SAM COM for ages :)

Qwikshot 10-07-2003 09:17 AM

Congrats

Breeze 10-07-2003 09:32 AM

Congratulations...hope your read for the sleep depravation.

Wolfpack 10-07-2003 11:52 AM

Congrats, GB! My wife went into the doctor yesterday for a checkup and said all things are a "Go", so it's up to the little one to decide when she'll make the entrance. Being that it's a first pregnancy, we're not expecting her to show up until early November (original due date) at the earliest, but stranger things have happened.

Hope you're getting your sleep. I'm going to be in the same boat shortly.

Thomkal 10-07-2003 06:44 PM

Congrats to the Blitz family. :) Glad to hear everyone is doing well.

Godzilla Blitz 10-07-2003 11:47 PM

Thanks to all! Much appreciated!

Things are going well. This is our second child (our boy is 21 months old), so we've switched to man-to-man defense. We're hanging in there. Could use some sleep though.

I'm not sure how often I'll check in over the next two weeks, so if I don't reply, I'm not ignoring you, I'm just not here. Eventually I will read everything.

Thanks again!

Coffee: Thanks. I had seen those once before and was hoping to find them now that we've got a daugther. I like the shotgun, shovel, and big back yard line. That's a classic.

MrBug708 10-07-2003 11:49 PM

Dude, did I miss something? Where is the update? Put your new baby on the roster, I'm sure she wants an early start.

Congrats BTW

Yeah, but then how do you explain to your wife that you just accidentally killed the new baby...

Blade6119 10-08-2003 08:36 AM

that wont happen...he will just switch the names and give his son my guy....he will just say i died

Wolfpack 10-08-2003 01:21 PM

The new baby's going to be a Skyranger pilot. Really can't be worse than the incoherent babblings of the current ones.

psssssssssst, it's a girl.

Blade6119 10-08-2003 05:38 PM

i knew that...i was just testing all you guys

tucker342 10-09-2003 06:47 PM

is it too late to call in??? If not, I'm here!

Blade6119 10-09-2003 07:01 PM

god..he gets a baby and just forgets about us...i see where his priorities lay...last time i ever save his ass in asotts dynasty ;)

SplitPersonality1 10-10-2003 11:43 AM

Conga-rats GB.

I have two girls and they are...interesting. In a few years when they are of dating age (sometime in their mid-30s), I will be borrowing my Dad's golden glove trophies and displaying them in a very visible area.

Nothing like a large gold boxer on a four fot tall trophy to scare the crap out of would-be suitors.

Oh yeah. Quit playing with the baby and get back to the dynasty, you slacker! :)

RealDeal 10-16-2003 02:02 PM

I know GB's busy with the new baby, but I just didn't want this to drop down too far.

revrew 10-16-2003 02:16 PM

RealDeal!!! You tease! I'd rather let it fall than see a bunch of meaningless bumps. Man, the way my heart skipped a beat then fell through the floor was almost as bad as watching the Cubs fall apart after Kerry Wood's homer.

{end slightly twisted, meaningless rant without any significant feeling behind it, suited only to relieve the sheer boredom of a man working behind a desk at 2:30 in the afternoon}

Godzilla Blitz 10-16-2003 04:06 PM

Sorry for the lack of communication, but I don't have any good news regarding the dynasty other than to say that we'll be back in action as soon as possible. Best guess would be that within a month, maybe sooner, I'll get back to the "once-a-week" pace. Soon after that, I'd like to get up to two missions a week, maybe more. I really want to see how things will turn out. I feel like we're getting closer to the final confrontation, and would like to see if we can save the world (or perish) before the end of this year.

And thanks again for all the good wishes. Our daughter is doing fine, and should be ready to tote a Heavy Plasma soon.

Fonzie 10-17-2003 01:10 AM

That's good news, GB, but take your time. We'll still be here.

BTW, does anybody else think the sound effects Fox plays when they lower/raise the "game status bar" at the top of the screen during baseball games sounds like the screen-change sound effect from X-com? Or am I just a crazy person talking like a crazy person?

Kodos 10-21-2003 01:08 PM

Whew! I've finally caught up on this thing! Congratulations on young Ms. Blitz! I'm sure mom and dad must be quite proud of their latest collaboration. :)

Go X-Com (when you're ready)!

Tasan 10-26-2003 10:42 PM

This deserves a bump, since we've got so many new people on the board from all the fof2004 stuff, they should get to reading the best dynasty ever made.

tucker342 10-26-2003 10:53 PM

Quit playing games with my emotions man!:D

RealDeal 11-06-2003 10:06 PM

X COOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

Godzilla Blitz 11-06-2003 11:30 PM

Sorry. Not good news as far as a quick return to XCOM. Our new baby is not the sleeper that our first one was. My wife is generally a saint, but she turns into a raving Chrysalid when she hears me playing games while she struggles with the baby 24/7. My options--if I want to stay happily married to my posessed wife--are help her with the baby or work (or at least look like I'm working), but there isn't much more than a couple of hours/week for gaming at this point.

I'm hoping things settle soon, but they tell me it could be another two months or more before the baby starts sleeping longer at night and the alien inside my wife departs. I haven't forgotten, though, and the next restart will be the last. We'll go to the end, or until we can't go any more.

If anyone knows how to exorcise demons, let me know. That might help speed things up. And we might get lucky, and things settle down faster. Once the baby starts sleeping at night, I should get that 2-3 hours of free time in the evenings. I can usually get in an hour or so of gaming with that, and that's all we need to get this going again.

Blade6119 11-06-2003 11:38 PM

yet another example of godzilla trying to screw me over...im sorry i almost blew up your titan...that was so 3 weeks ago ;)

Lokugh 11-07-2003 09:08 AM

Dude, don't apologize. Take care of the baby and the wife and ignore us until you're ready. If any of us get really unhinged with the need for XCom, we could buy the game and do our own dynasty. We will miss your writing, but we can wait.

Kodos 11-07-2003 01:01 PM

Take your time. Don't worry 'bout them Golden Scribes. ;)

Fonzie 11-07-2003 01:12 PM

These guys are right - no hurries. Do the stuff that needs to get done and we'll be waiting for you with Steve Perry-ish Open Arms when you return.

And Kodos, since you can't post in your own dynasty thread for the time being, how's the house hunting going?

Kodos 11-07-2003 03:00 PM

Hey Fonzie: The missus and I successly bought a house last weekend. I am actually going to the inspection in just a few minutes.

I suspect your real interest is in the timeframe for a return to Gatesville. My answer: It may be a while still. It may not be until next year. I don't really know. Things are still hectic at home and at work, and I am chronically tired these days. So much so, that I actually turned down an opportunity to play primelord in Madden online. Which I would never do under normal circumstances...

Basically, if some time comes free and I can finish up the season, I will, but I can't say when that will happen. Having football games on every Sunday doesn't help, cuz who wants to be writing a silly dynasty when the real thing is on TV! Thanks again for your patience. I really don't know how Godzilla updates as frequently as he does. Dynasty-writing is really time consuming. Throw in kids, and I don't see how he ever makes any time for it. He's a dynasty-writing dynamo, I guess. :)

tucker342 11-07-2003 03:51 PM

No need to apoligize, come back as soon as your able!

Fonzie 11-08-2003 12:18 PM

Congratulations Kodos! Best of luck to you with the move - remember, lift with your legs.:)

Thanks! Last year, we bought a 36 inch TV, which made me quite happy. Now, I have no idea how we are going to move that puppy...

tucker342 11-08-2003 07:12 PM

ya...... good luck with that one Kodos:D

Convertible hand-truck / dolly. Got mine at Sam's Club. Makes moving 36" 230-lb Sony WEGA much easier. :)

I think I'm going to hurt the next person who posts an inane message like these in this thread, thus giving me hope that maybe, just maybe, we'll get a new mission  ;) :D

Dear Sterlingice,

Don't read this. (Too late...sorry about that.)

Just pushing this back up to the top, so it stays in everyone's conciousness< g >.

Blade6119 12-04-2003 10:36 AM

Godzilla...where are you?...i see your basketball dynasty getting updated all day long...but alas, no X-Com...

oh, and hi sterlingice!

sachmo71 12-04-2003 11:41 AM

Let it go, man. The dude is BUSY!

Kodos 12-04-2003 01:15 PM

I'm guessing the b-ball is much less time-consuming than X-Com. Good things come to those who wait. :)

Coffee Warlord 12-04-2003 02:00 PM

Yeah, it's nice for the X-Com Officers to wait. They all have plush quarters. As a veteran grunt, I get stuffed inside a box with 8 other smelly guys. :)

Godzilla Blitz 12-04-2003 02:39 PM

Sorry. I've been afraid to post here because I didn't want to get everyone's hopes up. But i think we have good news coming soon...

Things are starting to settle down. I'd say we're less than three weeks away from restarting. Most nights now the baby is somewhat sleeping after 8:30, and that's a good thing. I can get a half hour to an hour of free time in the evenings about four or five times a week now, and it's been getting better every week.

I've been doing the basketball dynasty because it's easy and fast (the print function in the game makes doing dynasties so easy), I can make progress playing only thirty minutes, and the game has no sound. X-COM makes noise, takes much more time to make progress, and, well, all the details of the explanation are over in the basketball dynasty if you're curious.

When we'll restart I'll probably aim for the mission a week pace at a minimum, and pick things up where I can. I'm hoping it will be the last restart we'll need. I really want to see how this all turns out. I feel like we're getting close to the end, and it's time to end the scourge of the Sectoids once and for all.

I do have one small obstacle to take care of first. I need to find a cheap monitor. The old one is on the new computer now. Shouldn't be a problem, though. Such a trivial detail as a monitor can't stop us from saving the world.

Stay tuned. I should be killing X-COM agents before the end of the year.

sterlingice 12-04-2003 03:14 PM

I kill all of you. ;)

Well, except GB- that would make it tough to keep writing.
