I'm not sure that's true with Darwin as the pitching coach. |

I'm pretty sure your pitching is the suck. |

SP has been great.. RP and hitting.. a mixed bag for sure, mostly thesuck! |

Well done! I don't recognize those contests (Fan Duel? I play DK), but I recognize the money. Way to go. |

This wasn't a media problem. If he's "fixed", it's because he was lazy and/or apathetic during his last year+ here once faced with the inability to throw 97 anymore. |

What is a good web site to visit to see trade rumors and call ups and completed trades?
Something where the info isnt buried. |

THANK YOU! Exactly what I was looking for. Great resource. |
Would Yario Munoz and Dakota Hudson be enough for Baltimore? Shoot, throw in Wong or Gyorko.
Or Moose from KC. I imagine he would be cheaper to acquire. |
Could we feasibly have a showcase game called pitchers vs. hitters?
|
Matheny fired.
I cannot figure out why they dont hire Oquendo. |
Quote:
Finally! Hiring Oquendo was my first thought as well, he seems like a logical fit. |
Make it so, I want the Cards to stick to the Cardinal way and what better way than to hire a guy from the inside. One less big name for FA's to choose from.
|
|
|
For basically one guy
|
|
So LA gives up their #4, #27, and #28 prospects along with 2 other lower tier guys for Machado, for a couple months. My lower level OOTP projects never turn out. So if it is part works to tip the scales, then so be it.
|
I've had it with this Cardinals team. Guy throws a no hitter through 7 innings and our shitty bullpen blows another game. Terrible base running by Pham and Molina as well as leaving in Morris to lose the game.
I can't stomach this team anymore until they make some moves. |
I don't know, seemed like a good game to me. ;)

This team is as bad or worse than last years sad sack bunch. 500 talent will net you 500. If Mo doesnt make some moves before the deadline, he needs to go. |

We need a DEEP clean. There are too many to name, but my list also includes Carlos Martinez. |
Quote:
Yep. At this point Im ready to be a seller. Get some young bats to go with those young arms. Martinez is easily replaced and would get a big haul. |
How about ten years of mediocrity in St. Louis?
Come on, I've done 30+ years, it'll be a breeze! |
After the way those motherfuckers kept throwing at Ramirez in the playoffs a few years ago, I'm down for 50+ years of mediocrity in St. Louis.
"The Cardinals Way" my fucking ass. |
The Cards do need a switch in philosophy as the "Cardinal Way" is a tired and obsolete methodology. It was fantastic when it was working but baseball has moved away from that style. Plus it makes it hard when the Front Office can't hack into other teams system and steal their scouting reports

I've had enough pain with our hockey team. :D |

I need a site that shows movie ratings, actors, and aligns everything in a easy to use database, preferably on the Internet. |
Kind of cool that the Braves got Venters back from the Rays.
Also some talk about legislating against the shift. I don’t know what the correct way to handle it would be, but it will just continue to grow. Between this and pitching changes I think there’s room for improvement. |
Quote:
I think we need a specific mark on the field where all players must stand. Expecting players like Joey Gallo to figure out how to lay down a bunt is pretty unreasonable. |
Did anyone see Olbermann's report on the statistical analysis on shifts? It actually increases offensive output.
The real problem is, the type of offensive output that it increases - walks and HRs. If part of the issue is the lack of action (balls in play and on-field action), then there's an argument for doing something about shifts. If the argument is that shifts are stifling offense, that's technically not true. The more drastic the shift alignment, the higher the offensive output. Baseball's issue is that statistical analysis has proven that hitting the ball in the air is the better strategy because it increases HRs. This is essentially the equivalent to basketball moving to an extreme 3-point strategy. Hitting the ball on the ground is the equivalent to low post play. You don't score as much per possession/AB as if you throw up a bunch of 3s/hit the ball in the air. |
I think it's inevitable that we'll end up with more house rules that reduce efficiency but make the game more fun.

No hitter alert. The Braves, Newcomb is 3 outs from no hitting the Dodgers. The game is on TBS.
|
Damn, with 2 outs too
|
And two strikes on the hitter.
|
So close. SNLA had a bunch of great close ups of him before he threw those pitches. You could tell his breathing was way up, he was totally pumped up and ready. Would have been cool to see that get finished off.

This has been one of the busiest deadline days that I can remember in recent years.

Orioles should be a fun team to watch the rest of the year. (where is the vomit emoji?)

Does it feel like you've just now hit that point? Cause I got some bad news for you. |
The Rangers suck this year, but it looks like Beltre will retire as a Ranger.
|
Only trade we make is getting rid of Pham? Seems like an odd trade to me. (my guess is due to him speaking out against the management)
|
Quote:
Seems like Shildt is a company man. They paid Fowler all that money and want him to play so he plays. Holland and Pham talk about the brass and they are gone. Not necessarily a bad thing could never figure out mathenys management strategies like Alydemys Diaz being in the minors or where Gyerko was going to play. At least Shildt seems to be putting out a consistant lineup. Martinez seems to be the most likely next one to go. |
fwiw, I don't hate the Braves pick up of Gausman from the O's.
The prospects they sent back weren't awful but they weren't high end either. That seems like a reasonable price to pay in this case. |
Quote:
8 years as a Ranger, does he go in as a Ranger since he spent more time not a Ranger than he did as one? |
Redskins killing the Jets today
|
Quote:
Yeah that was my take as well. I do like consistency with Shildt, but we are not a playoff team, 2019 could be huge and we needed to move more imho. Now, that doesn't mean we didn't try and couldn't get much, but I would have moved Fowler for a rookie league nobody. :) I wanted more of a youth movement to see what we had the rest of the season, then dig into the pocketbook and go out and add to this SP staff. |
Sonny Gray is turning into the 2018 version of Ed Whitson, knocked out of the box in the 3rd by Baltimore. So glad the Yanks picked up Happ.
