SCORE!

Fez was fantastic!

I remember it, but the only reference I found to it was back at the first Golden Scribes presentation, so I think it must have been 2 boards ago.

Darkest Dungeon has released a Beta Patch that introduces Radiant Mode, amongst many other fixes and changes, which should make the game a bit easier for newbies/struggling "veterans" like me. The beta is apparently only available on Steam right now. Instructions on how to access are included in the link:

Radiant Update Public Beta | Darkest Dungeon

I really enjoyed Darkest Dungeon and used a mod to give more gold on quests (I kept running out as the game progressed). The last update caused my save to crash so I stopped playing. This mode might be worth trying. Honestly, I don't mind the difficulty, I just would like a better currency system. If they just gave more gold in quests and allowed you to sell back provisions you don't use at a higher rate, the game would be significantly less tedious.

Looks like there will be some changes to the Economy that might help here:
  • ECONOMY Adjustments to Radiant and Darkest modes:
    • Economy was too gold starved across the board, including mid and late game.
    • Slightly reduced cost of Hero Treatment.
    • Reduced hero weapon and armour upgrade costs.
    • Reduced cost of upgrading hero skills final two levels
    • Increased gold drops and gold stacking from 1,500 to 1,750
    • (all modes) Rebalanced gem drops and changed gem values. Net result is much higher values of gems dropping as difficulty of missions progress.
    • Gems now all stack to 5 instead of 4
    • Adjusted Antiquarian values to be in line with Economy changes to ensure she’s still profitable.

Arles 02-13-2017 03:26 PM

Thanks, Thomkal - sounds like a good start. I will definitely give this a try.

Hmm I may have been thinking about the reverse too. They have GOG Connect which lets you connect your Steam games to GOG. Sorry to get your hopes up :)

Today 50% on Sega management games, FM and MotorSport Manager. Both are must have games!

CrimsonFox 02-15-2017 03:28 PM

Did anyone get the freedom bundle and not want all their stuff? I'd go in on it.

rjolley 02-15-2017 03:43 PM

I bought it and don't want all of it. Let me know what you'd like and I'll gift it over if I'm not going to keep it. The one I really wanted is The Witness. Otherwise, we can discuss.

MrBug708 02-15-2017 04:18 PM

Is the new FM worth it? I'm a buy every year guy, but the improvements seem limited this year

Humble Freedom Bundle (pay what you want and help charity)

You get it there and they give you steam keys to enter into steam.

(on most of the titles at least) a few games here and there are just downloadable without keys. And of course books and music aren't steamy either. (i think?)

What do you mean 40 minutes? The keys just stay there in your account until you use them. Or gift them. Or just sit there if you let them.

Don't you need to manually enter them all in to redeem them in steam?

CTL-C, CTL-V, takes maybe 20s per code, depending on your connection.

MrBug708 02-15-2017 10:34 PM

And how many games are there? :)

CrimsonFox 02-16-2017 02:49 AM

It's up to 67 items for 30 bucks.

That's like 44.8 cents an item.

only 9 of those items are NOT games.

So less than 52 cents a game.

How is Sunless Sea? Worth a try?

As for NBA 2K17, it's a very good game. Has it's flaws, but I like the direction their going in.

Vince, Pt. II 02-16-2017 03:22 PM

Sunless Sea is fantastic if you're OK with slow-paced, extremely well-written, wordy as all hell games.

I've not played it (well now I have for about 30 mins.) I've watched a few Let's Plays of it, and it looks intriguing.

Not sure if it's been mentioned in this thread, but our family has been having a great time with all the Jackbox games. It's 15 or so party games and all the players play using their phone or tablet. Even has an option to turn off the explicit content if you're playing with kids. We had eight players the other night at a party and had a great time.

Mota 02-20-2017 10:14 AM

I agree, we just bought Jackbox 3 and it was awesome. We're going to be playing as a family today. There are so few games are out these days that you can get the whole family to play.

MizzouRah 02-22-2017 08:47 PM

Winds of Trade has been a fun sailing trading game.

911 Operator comes out on 2/24 and looks fun (and stressful).

How do you guys play this on your TV? Do you stream it to the TV from your PC? If so, how?

If you don't have a laptop or PC close enough to a TV to connect with HDMI you can use a Steam Link to stream to your TV over your local network. It recommends using an Ethernet cable but Wi-Fi should be fine for a game like Jackbox.

Amazon occasionally has Steam Links on sale for $20 if you want to keep an eye on them for a deal.

One very cool thing about 911 Operator is that it loads city maps from an open source map database online. So you can add in just about any city or town and it will automatically use real street names to generate calls.

I hate you all. You guys cost me more money than my kids. :)

Bought this today been playing this morning. Very cool simple game that is going to be addictive for awhile. I can see the limitations for long-term play (just a couple hours in, and can tell the calls are going to get very repetitive). Over all, though, it is a challenging resource game. I do have some problems with the set-up and game-play that kills the immersion, but can so simply be fixed.

1) Waaaayy to many shoot outs. Every shift has multiple shoot-outs, sometimes you have two or more at the same time! Most police officers (like in the 80% range) never fire their weapons on duty. Not your little sim cops. They are all under fire every shift! Not to mention, constantly getting shot. And the topper on the break-immersion scale, they finish their shift after being shot. Simple fix is actual gun-play be turned down considerably. Should be very rare, and then the units involved removed from the rest of the shift. I know it is a game, and the gun-fights adds to the pressure, but it is just over-blown.

2) Vehicles should have equipment slots, not the staff. All staff only has two slots, so if you say put a vest on an officer, you only have one slot for a weapon. Kind of silly. Realistically, every cop has a vest, handgun, and taser then car would be equipped with a shot-gun or some other weapon in case of need. That was just a dumb game decision to limit equipment. Cars should have like two extra equipment slots, and vans should have like four.

Overall, fun game. Some gamey decisions are going to kill long-term gameplay, though.
