Michigan fans are planning to January 6th the Big 10 office.

I was just coming here to lol at how light this “punishment” against Michigan was. And their fans are apparently so upset by it, that they are going to commit a bunch of crimes in response. What did someone say earlier in this thread? College football is so stupid and I love it. |
Where does Michgan file the appeal to prevent the suspension from going ahead? Federal or State?
|
Saw this and it made me laugh.

That's hilarious. And would be a perfect solution to Miami's coaching problem.
|
The judge assigned to the injunction for Jim Harbaugh is a Michigan alum who works with the university currently, and played football at Michigan in 1972.

This is pretty much where I’m at. Assuming that the facts come out that Connor Stalions was doing this at the coaches’ request and they were using this to get an advantage during games, they appear to have broken the rules in a very stupid way, and deserve to be punished. This whole thing remains the stupidest sports scandal ever. The main culprit’s name is Connor Stalions. Stupid. The whole scheme he cooked up and trail he left behind. Stupid. Going on a covert op on the CMU sidelines. Stupid. The Big 10 coaches and ADs whining on that call. Stupid. Michigan’s letter to the Big 10 in response. Stupid. The timing and substance of the Big 10’s punishment. Stupid. It’s all a bad look for Michigan, Harbaugh and the Big 10. I have a couple of friends who are much bigger UofM fans than I am and have some deeper ties to the university. Talking with them on this and hearing their takes is what I imagine it feels like to watch Fox News all of the time. They are living in a world with an alternate set of facts where this whole thing was cooked up by Ryan Day and his PI brother and part of a long running personal griefs with Michigan. It’s bizarre. |
Agreed, HB. The whole thing is full of breathless hyperbole from both sides. The driving need to punish Harbaugh does come off as an vendetta-like obsession. But then the ridiculous ways Michigan fans have tried to justify a clear breach of rules is very Trumpian.

Totally. Last night on a WhatsApp chat group I’m in, guys were declaring “war” on the Big 10. Saying that the Big 10 should be prepared to “go to the mattresses.” Declaring that Michigan should leave the Big 10 after this.
It’s such hyperbolic nonsense over very little. And on all of this on the eve of the start of Michigan’s 2-5 game regular season. |
Yes. You should leave your conference of over 100 years over a man who will quite possibly be coaching the Chargers or Bears next year regardless of what the University is willing to go to the mat for.
|
"If they suspend Harbaugh even for a single quarter, we will shut down our football program and burn down our stadium. That will show them."
Sent from my SM-S916U using Tapatalk |
No injunction. Harbaugh is not going to be on the sideline today. Now watch Michigan win by 70 points and people start wondering if they are better off without him on the sidelines.

Lol at Penn State's offense
|
And Penn State's defense finally said "Fuck this" after the offense derps again.
|
Drew Allar plays like someone who knows he's a future Iowa Hawkeye.
|
....why are you going for 2 again?
|
lol at that 2 pt play
If they weren't chasing points, they could have just kicked and been seven down. I understand always going for two or rarely going for two, but I hate chasing points in the first half. There's just too much game left to come. |
JJ McCarthy hasn't thrown the ball in 2 hours.
|
That was a bit much from coach Moore.
|
lol at the decision making of Penn State over those last ~4 minutes.
|
Oklahoma State is getting taken behind the woodshed by 1-5 in Big 12 play UCF. Somewhere, Texas fans are laughing their balls off.
|
The guy that picked off the ball for Washington and then dropped on the ground at the one is going to have that shame with him for the rest of his life. He has to hope they don't lose this game.
Sent from my SM-S916U using Tapatalk |
Even DeSean Jackson was embarrassed by that one. He dropped it at like the 2!
|
Just for the record, I don't want to smell like Johnny Depp. Which I imagine is the smell of marijuana and b.o.

The relay booth reviewed 4 plays in the FSU/Miami game and got all 4 of them wrong. Three went against FSU but I don't know how Miami wasn't given a safety on what was pretty clear evidence. Just horrible.
|
Coastal Carolina played at home against Texas State in a steady rain for most of the game. They had to hold off a late comeback, but held on to win 31-23. They are now bowl eligible even though they are still with out QB#1 McCall.
|
Quote:
It's crazy because it wasn't even close. The ball, after it was dropped, was still clearly on about the 2 yard line and two UW players ran by it to go celebrate with the guy that dropped the ball. |
Ole Miss apparently decided to bring their Baby Shark defense to tonight's game.
|
Iowa has an offensive explosion and scores 22 on over 400 yards offense. Wonder if that moves us closer to 132
One fair catch and a bus wreck away from the playoffs |
We live in a world where Kiffy watched Pete Golding's work at Bama and thought "THIS is the guy we need to hire"
FML |
So Ole Miss is just allowed to commit pass interference on every play, huh? I guess whatever it takes to try to keep them from being completely embarrassed.

If Kyle Pitts was a 4th overall pick, then Brock Bowers is a lock for number one overall. (Of course he is not, but it shows how stupid that Pitts pick was).

Florida has given up over 700 yards tonight.

Texas A&M is about to pay Jimbo $75 to go bye-bye
Sent from my SM-S916U using Tapatalk |
Win 51-10, get fired. Not exactly a good look although this is obviously about the overall record. I wonder if they were afraid he'd beat LSU and have a bit too much momentum to easily move on. Plus doing it now gives them an early chance to start their search.
|
Or could mean they already have a guy.
Sent from my SM-S916U using Tapatalk |
Yeah, it's to be first in line on the carousel. Is there anyone worth getting?
|
This could be interesting for WVU. The money guys love Jimbo, but Brown’s seat isn’t quite so hot right now. Although yesterday ratcheted it up a few degrees.
|
I think the Oregon State coach is well regarded. A lot of A&M people are saying the dynamics within A&M don't make it a very attractive job so it may be hard to get a well-established coach.
|
Just for fun, they ought to at least interview Corch Irvin Meyers.
|
Double dola.
Pete Thamel doing Jimmy Sexton's PR job and released a list of Sexton clients who are on the early list of potential candidates. Including Norvell - of course. |
Is the guy they have in Petrino? Are they really just giving him an end of the season try-out?
Sent from my SM-S916U using Tapatalk |
The guy I'm pretty surprised -- almost shocked -- hasn't been fired already today is Pittman at Arkansas.
And literally as I'm typing this post, I start to see on Twitter where he's been fired. |
Fire Neal Brown
It's nice to be back to our regularly scheduled programing. I'm not entirely sure I can dislike a head coach as much as I dislike Neal Brown. |

Urban Meyer seems perfect for aTm

Not fired yet (or officially). But yeah, doesn't look good for him. FWIW, I'd give him one more year. Last year, QB and RB got hurt. This year, both OC and DC are new. IMO the DC was no big loss but it's clear the OC was. |
Some one updated DAn Lanning's wiki:
"Dan Lanning (born April 10, 1986) is an American football coach and former player who will be leaving the University of Oregon and head to the Aggies of Texas A&M University.” |
|
Man, that A&M/Miss State game was bad enough to get both head coaches fired!

The scuttlebutt is no timetable. So many are thinking after the season is done. |
With all of these leagues consolidating and trimming out the programs with less resources, I feel like some of these mid- to lower level P2 programs are in an impossible place. You have to take the opportunity to be in one of these conferences if it presents itself, but some of these programs that are expecting to compete nationally are going to end up at the bottom just by virtue of having a loser for every winner. It will be interesting to see how patient USC/Washington/Oregon and Oklahoma/Texas will be with the transition.
And, if they are successful, who are they pushing down? |
Stephen A. Smith wants Coach Prime to go to A&M.
If I were him, I'm not sure that is the job to move for. |
Quote:
The SEC losers in a OU and Texas win scenario feel obvious to me, as unhappy as I am to say it: Tennessee and Ole Miss. Can Heupel figure out how to win (or even show up) on the road? Uncertain. The talent gap that Ole Miss suffers from doesn't feel sustainable success is possible. And Alabama, whenever Saban steps down, feels like an obvious decline candidate. In the Big 10, I'd say Wisconsin and Iowa feel like the most likely to experience a decline in fortunes in a newcomers-are-successful scenario, with Penn State the other. As you noted, if the newcomers win then somebody has to be losing, and those are the ones who have at least managed to win some games up to that point. |

A 25 recruit decommitted from Colorado because he didnt know if Prime would be there. |
I got bigger news than Prime or Harbaugh. Iowa's MVP Tory Taylor will not use his final year of eligibility.

It's absolutely insane there was no offset and he's free to take another job if he wanted to and they continue to pay him. It sounds like he's going to retire, I sure as well would. TAMU set his family up for a very, very long time. |
He's 58 and owed $77 million. Tough to get motivated about jumping in the coaching carousel to get a job at Florida International or whatever would be available. Probably ends up being a talking head on some college show.
|
Have you HEARD Jimbo talk? Thte FSU beat guys would laugh about how difficult transcribing him was.
|
Quote:
I would too. This is insane... He owes Jameis a shitload of crab legs.

Saw this list on Reddit. A selection of the biggest name coaching changes in 2017-18. This is like one of those draft classes you look back on as a complete disaster.
Chip Kelly is the "success" story, at least in terms of length of tenure (although that's rumored to be short-lived). Kelly wasn't a total disaster but he certainly never hit any real high marks (one 9 win season is his best). Not on this list, I guess Josh Heupel (hired at UCF) was the next best of the bunch, with maybe Mario Cristobal (Oregon) second? Slim pickins. Quote:

Michigan State, just because you can doesn't mean you should.
|
Lol.
|
Is there a "super duper, no doubt, extra targeting" penalty and suspension level? Because if so, this should be it.
|
And now Michigan has fired their linebackers coach. That must have been the other shoe that was going to fall that had them drop the TRO suit.

I thought Jay Harbaugh was going to be the first coach fired. I'm wondering if his daddy is keeping him employed for now on threat of resigning. |
Quote:
That is a horrific thing to do to another player. But isn't it also a horrific thing to do to yourself? I understand the targeting when you lower your head and hit the other guy while making a tackle. You should take more care to prevent it (hence the penalty), but I also get the sense that most of those guys aren't trying to go helmet to helmet. Here, he braced, aimed, and slammed his head as hard as possible into another helmet. Why?! Why would you do that to your own skull?! |
They are saying the linebackers coach was fired for destroying evidence during an NCAA investigation. He destroyed a computer that had evidence of the scouting scheme. They have also found the person that was funding the scheme was a long time Michigan booster. The NCAA gave Michigan the evidence yesterday, which is what prompted the dropping of the TRO.
Sent from my SM-S916U using Tapatalk |
It's almost like he transported himself into a soccer game and was going for a header. It's so bizarre.
|
The booster goes by Uncle T... I guess Uncle Tom was taken.
While I don't think it's actually Tom Brady funding it, him being wrapped up in another SpyGate would be hilarious. Sources: NCAA's evidence vs. Michigan included booster involvement in scouting scheme, attempted destruction of evidence Also, isn't this the definition of lack of institutional control? They literally had no control on seemingly the entire institution of Michigan football. |
Tom Brady would be hilarious. Unfortunately, I think it's one the leaders of their NIL collective.

This goes back like 25 years but I remember being yelled at by coaches if you did this. It wasn't even really called back then but they were very clear that this is how you end up a paraplegic. |
Does any of this affect Michigan's status as America's team?
|
Washington State putting a licking on Colorado. Wow.
|
I saw a tweet that Deion should report a theft - his Louis was obviously stolen.
|
Apparently Miami was running a "buy 1 get 2 free" ticket promotion to get people to show up for a game against a top 10 team. Never change, Miami.
|
John L Smith is making fun of Mario Cristobal’s in-game decisions.
|
Here’s my broadcast innovation: I want to be able to hide scores from other games. We need a user-adjustable score bar at the bottom of the screen.
|
I stopped watching the Michigan-Terp game because it started looking like a blow out. It doesn't look like one now.
|
Forcing Michigan to actually pass because Maryland's offense isn't a wet paper bag like Penn State.
|
Coastal Carolina lost by a touchdown on the road at Army today. Next week has them back at home for a spot in the Sun Belt Championship against undefeated, but non-qualifying for a bowl game James Madison.
|
I'm sorry I went back to watching. Maryland has just completely lost the ability to move the ball since I flipped over. I will say from what I have seen of the Michigan offense the last couple of weeks, I wonder how they think they are keeping up with Ohio State next week.
|
Cincinnati is awful. I'm not sure how Emory Jones can be a 6th year senior and still be this bad.
|
Some times trick plays just work.
|
Carson Beck is not getting enough buzz. He has a strong arm, is very accurate, and does a good job reading defenses.
|
App State takes out another one. Beats James Madison in OT.
|
Second school (or a school/state rep) to threaten to sue and lose. UNC got what they wanted and still lost twice.
|
Jahiem White of WVU got his first start today and went for over 200 yards. He's now at 81 carries for 659 on the year which is 8.1ypc. He's the highest rated true freshman running back by PFF.
|
Thank you Appy State.

Wait, they let Mike Bobo back on the UGA campus? I thought Steve Spurrier had a better chance of being the UGA OCf after Bobo's last stint as OC for the school.

Edit: Todd F-ing Grantham is the guy not allowed anywhere near Georgia's campus. He did less with more than any man alive, and yet he just kept getting jobs. It was baffling. |
I find it quite incredible that ANYONE thinks Tennessee -- or rather, Josh "Better Be Glad He Beat Bama Last Year" Heupel -- is actually serious about football when they keep sending Joe F'n Milton out at quarterback. As football players go, he ain't worth a damn, ain't never been worth a damn, and won't ever be worth a damn.
Either the much talked about but rarely seen backup is absolutely clueless and an even bigger waste of a scholarship & a jersey than Milton OR Heupel is clueless and got really lucky last year. The only surprising thing about today's game is the first play. Otherwise, it's been exactly what I expected. *And yes, I'm more than a little surprised that no one has uncovered some link between Joe F'n Milton and Reggie F'n Ball. 3rd cousins or something. |
Quote:
He's only seen one defense with a pulse all season, so yeah, let's see what it looks like if he happens to run into one. |
If Joe Milton could throw an accurate ball, this would have been a game.
|
I don't recall ever hearing a similar ref announcement to this one.
