Update

I have some bad news.

A family emergency calls me back to Michigan immediately.

I'm trying to prepare my notebook computer with my development environment and other essentials, but I'm guessing I will be out of communication for a few days. I have a flight out of here early tomorrow.

I will try to release the game while I'm gone. I'll certainly be able to get the demo finished and active.

I apologize for the delay.

BishopMVP 11-04-2003 12:53 AM

Good luck, I hope all goes well with your family.

Neuqua 11-04-2003 12:53 AM

Too bad, good luck with everything.

VPI97 11-04-2003 12:53 AM

Icy 11-04-2003 01:44 AM

Good luck Jim, familly is above any bussines or game fans.

HornedFrog Purple 11-04-2003 01:51 AM

No worries! Family is a billion times more important and besides it gives us more time to speculate.. like when you see that present wrapped under the tree and wonder what it is. Thanks for letting us know.

KJDelaney 11-04-2003 01:55 AM

Don't apologize at all. Family is first and foremost, period.

Take care and God Bless.

Ben E Lou 11-04-2003 03:20 AM

Oh wow.

SegRat 11-04-2003 03:31 AM

There are so many things more important than a computer game. You will be in my thoughts and prayers. When time is right I look forward to playing the new game.

Don't worry about the game, take care of what's really important. We'll be here when you return.

CamEdwards 11-04-2003 05:51 AM

I'll just echo the thoughts of others and say go take care of what's most important. We and the game will still be here when you get back.

Senator 11-04-2003 05:52 AM

The game is a non issue, best of luck.

Noop 11-04-2003 06:01 AM

Thoughts and prayer for you and yours.

Eaglesfan27 11-04-2003 07:27 AM

I hope everything turns out ok. Don't worry about the game. You and your family will be in my prayers. (I also just went through a family emergency with my mom going in for a cardiac bypass surgery and realize how stressful situations like this can be - she came through it well by the way.)

samifan24 11-04-2003 08:09 AM

Thanks for the update, Jim. It was hardly necessary given your situation. Good luck to you and yours, you will be in our prayers.

mckerney 11-04-2003 08:16 AM

Hope everything works out alright for you :(.

cuervo72 11-04-2003 08:17 AM

We certainly can wait, Jim. Take care of what you need to, and I hope everything turns out ok.

MissionComplete 11-04-2003 08:23 AM

You're in my prayers, the game has to take a back seat, as family etc takes a much more important role than a simulation football game. The game is a close 2nd tho ;)

Dutch 11-04-2003 08:30 AM

Same here, I hope everything turns out okay with your family member. We will see you on the flip side.

Honolulu Blue 11-04-2003 08:43 AM

I hope everything goes well for you in this trying time.

P.S. You're not going to be very far from where I am.

Castlerock 11-04-2003 09:10 AM

You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers. My wife just lost her mom two weeks ago. It is at times like this that you realize that family is what really matters. Life is so precious. Take care.

dolfin 11-04-2003 09:12 AM

Good luck, I hope everything turns out okay for your family.

Bonegavel 11-04-2003 09:14 AM

We'll keep the home-fires burning Jim.

oykib 11-04-2003 09:14 AM

Sucks to wait for a game. It sucks with the same gravity as when your spoonful of Raisin Bran doesn't have any raisins in it.

Don't even worry about the game from an us waiting standpoint. As soon as we get a raisin we'll be happy. It could be this spoonful or three spoons from now.

Good luck.

SplitPersonality1 11-04-2003 09:17 AM

Family first Jim. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

We can wait for a game.

Celeval 11-04-2003 09:33 AM

Hope all goes well, take as much time as you need.

QuikSand 11-04-2003 09:57 AM

I am very buoyed by the sentiments expressed here. Seeing how much anticipation was in the air surrounding the impending release, it's really a show of character to see people respond to gracefully to this bad news.

Well done, FOFC.

Subby 11-04-2003 10:10 AM

Aww, thanks Quik.

*applies noogie*

Coffee Warlord 11-04-2003 10:16 AM

*Insert slightly reworded statement of above sentiments here.*

Hope everything's alright Jim.

FBPro 11-04-2003 10:17 AM

Very true.....

Darkiller 11-04-2003 10:33 AM

Hope everything is all right Jim.
We'll wait for you. Please don't rush things for us, family is the ONE thing that's important.

God bless you.

Kodos 11-04-2003 10:37 AM

We can wait as long as need be. Family comes first. I hope everything turns out well.

Gallifrey 11-04-2003 11:27 AM

Family 1st. I think everyone at FOFC thinks that, and will be here for your game whenever you release it, knowing what is really important.

Fonzie 11-04-2003 11:35 AM

Best of luck to you and yours, Jim. As is probably obvious by now, FOFC will be keeping you in their collective thoughts.

McSweeny 11-04-2003 12:21 PM

good luck Jim, hope everything turns out ok

Passacaglia 11-04-2003 12:25 PM

Good luck Jim. Hope everything goes well!

The Afoci 11-04-2003 12:27 PM

EDIT BY SKYDOG: This is not the time for a joke.

I am joking. Good luck with everything.

cthomer5000 11-04-2003 12:38 PM

Best wishes. I hope everything works out as best it can.

Hands to the Face 11-04-2003 12:53 PM

You're in our collective thoughts and prayers, Jim. We all hope for the best.

Bonegavel 11-04-2003 01:19 PM

It would take a meteorite landing on my head to keep me from a family matter. When it comes down to it, they are all that matters.

Jim, let us know if there is anything we can do in addition to posting words of encouragement. I haven't prayed in over 15 years, but I send a little one to the man upstairs for you tonight.

I completely agree... And I would like to add, "I think I speak for everybody here, Jim don't worry about releasing the game. We will all wait, just don't worry about it"

Thanks for the update, I'll be buying the game on release day.

Arles 11-04-2003 02:21 PM

Jim,

I hope everything goes OK and our prayers with be with you and your family.

Arlie

PilotMan 11-04-2003 02:31 PM

Best wishes, and take care. We aren't going anywhere.

Godzilla Blitz 11-04-2003 02:50 PM

Best wishes, Jim. I hope everything turns out as well as possible.

As others have mentioned, the game can wait. Please don't add more stress to the situation by worrying about the game's release. We'll all be here when you get back.

korme 11-04-2003 02:51 PM

fam before gam(e)

vtbub 11-04-2003 04:11 PM

I was going to give a sarcastic answer, but I didn't want you to take it seriously.

Hope things are okay, and we'll be here when u are ready.

(added a question mark instead of a period.)

Vegas Vic 11-04-2003 04:40 PM

My prayers are with you and your family. Games can wait for another day.

I hope this was referring to your situation, having to deal with family issues rather than delaying the game. As everybody has said, family first and we will be waiting for you whenever you can come back! God Bless.

bzooty 11-04-2003 06:56 PM

Best wishes to you and your family, Jim.

Pumpy Tudors 11-04-2003 08:46 PM

Hmmm. Jim did say that it was a "family emergency," but he didn't say that it was something terrible. Still, obviously, I hope everything's all right.

WussGawd 11-04-2003 08:51 PM

As somebody else with a family in a "family emergency" situation, take as long as you need to. They can take your job, your health, your money, and everything else...but as long as you do the right thing, they can never take your family.

maximus 11-04-2003 08:54 PM

God speed Jim.

daedalus 11-04-2003 09:39 PM

We'll be here when you're back. Good luck with the family.

Ben E Lou 11-05-2003 09:15 AM

Bumping...

(For some reason I feel weird about stickying this...)

daedalus 11-05-2003 03:06 PM

I'd sticky it for a few days. Just so people know that it'll be delayed.

Know that you are there with our prayers.

Solecismic 11-06-2003 06:55 AM

Thanks so much for all your positive wishes. It means a lot to go here and see so many people thinking of us.

Subby 11-06-2003 07:20 AM

Hey - you are a good guy...you make it easy :)

sidtian 11-06-2003 10:05 AM

Good luck and safe travels.

sperril 11-07-2003 09:35 PM

Just wanted to add my prayers and well-wishes Jim. I don't know what to say that hasn't already been said so ditto to all of the above.

sjshaw 11-07-2003 11:11 PM

Ditto what Sperril wrote.

fantastic flying froggies 11-08-2003 08:03 AM

Hope everything turns out OK. Looks like the whole FOFC community is behind you...

Pacersfan46 11-08-2003 11:47 AM

Well, I came here looking for answers to why the game wasn't out, and now I feel like a big jackass.

Anyway, I registered just to wish you the best of luck, and not to worry about the game right now. Even impatient jackasses like myself can wait.

:D

Ben E Lou 11-10-2003 08:32 AM

bump...and un-sticky

Franklin 11-11-2003 01:12 PM

Umm... was the family emergency related to something I noticed on the "About Front Office Football 2004" window in the demo?

I think we need to keep praying for Jim and his family...

I do not know what the family emergency was about. I don't think that Jim has stated that publically.
