Most fun job in the world

Not counting your current job, what would you consider to be the most "fun" job to do? I'm not talking about what would make the most money or what would give you the most fame, but what would make you enjoy coming to work every day. I tried to put as many general options in here, but I know I didn't cover all of them.

rkmsuf 05-18-2006 01:51 PM

Whoever says "Text Sim Developer" shall forever be crowned king of the nerds.

Raiders Army 05-18-2006 01:52 PM

I think I'd like to be a food critic. I'd have to exercise a lot, but it'd be a lot of fun.

sachmo71 05-18-2006 01:53 PM

Forest Ranger would be a cool job, if I were already rich.

JeeberD 05-18-2006 01:58 PM

Playmate oiler

Samdari 05-18-2006 02:03 PM

On an old "Making of the SI swimsuit issue" special, they showed someone brushing the sand off of the models, especially near the skin/suit seam.

I want to be that guy.

Bee 05-18-2006 02:03 PM

I went with other since "Rich and Retired" wasn't an option.

oliegirl 05-18-2006 02:08 PM

Radio DJ. It's been my dream job since High School...

bosshogg23 05-18-2006 02:23 PM

I have to think movie star would be great. Even better, child movie star, make your millions and never do anything that you didnt want to again. Unless your parents steal your money(Culkin) or you get into nose candy(all other child stars).

DanGarion 05-18-2006 02:42 PM

Is porn star included in the first one?

McSweeny 05-18-2006 02:49 PM

come on bikini inspector

SelzShoes 05-18-2006 04:28 PM

Manager of the Fireworks, Candy and Puppy Dog Store.

MacroGuru 05-18-2006 04:53 PM

Honestly, for me, it has been High School Football Coach...I was paid for it, and I enjoyed it, it was awesome......

molson 05-18-2006 05:55 PM

Movie stars and pro athletes work too hard for it to be fun. I said CEO, so I could make the high-end decisions for a company in an industry that interested me, do none of the actual work, fly around on the company jet, and hire prostitutes on company credit cards.

sabotai 05-18-2006 06:02 PM

As someone who worked at the Safari at Six Flags Great Adventure, the option" working with animals" is wrong......fuckin ostriches...

Anyway, I'd say athlete.

Is that place still around? I have bizarre childhood memories of being sure I'd be killed at every turn at that place. Ostriches were literally attacking our car, striking their beaks against the windows. Monkeys were breaking off people's car antennas. It was chaos.

Yup, still around.

At least you had a car. All I had was a stick with some round plastic piece at the end of it. :)

Grammaticus 05-18-2006 07:39 PM

Idle Rich would have been my first pick, but Pro Athlete that becomes idle rich will do in a pinch.

bulletsponge 05-18-2006 08:52 PM

i voted other, playboy photographer

SackAttack 05-18-2006 09:06 PM

Am I allowed to vote, given that I already hold one of these jobs? ;)

Buccaneer 05-18-2006 09:06 PM

It's amazing to look at that list and see all of the entries requiring a ton of hard work and long hours, not to mention sacrifices. But I guess people's fantasies and perpection of a career are important too. To me, the most fun job is one that you can do leisurely and without stress or sacrifices.

PilotMan 05-18-2006 09:09 PM

I always wanted to be a baseball statistician. Keeping stats and watching baseball and getting paid to do it would have been fantastic.

I always knew you volunteered for a Soup Kitchen.

and make piles of money while doing it!

JonInMiddleGA 05-19-2006 09:01 AM

Other -- add me to the list of those who thought something along the lines of "idle rich" sounds like the best plan. "Very comfortably retired" would work really well for me too.

Failing those, the only job I've seen in years that I thought seemed really appealing to me was "professional demographer", although probably a better description of my dream job might be "professional demographic analyst". Just give me the data & let me spend my days sorting out what it all means.

Drew Carey: Oswald what is your dream job?

Oswald: I want to be Cindy Crawford's couch.

Heh... then after two days you'd quit because you realized that CEOs do far more work then most people think :D.

Gallifrey 05-19-2006 10:49 AM

Playing music hands down. Nothing like creating a wall of sound for thousands of people.

Other: Coach. A lot of pressure but also one of my dreams and something I have loved doing since I started playing sports

JS19 05-19-2006 12:29 PM

I am actually rather curious as to who chose the military.

Antmeister 05-19-2006 12:29 PM

Other: Wrter. I always dreamed of being a writer of fiction in the form of novels and screenplays.

Unless it's a talk show, you have zero control over your show. Being a DJ is basically just voicing a character.

I am going to guess that it is someone who isnt in the military. Military service is a lot of things, but not the most fun.

I personally would probably choose firefighter. Cool trucks, hot girlfriends, get paid while you sleep, work like 10 days per month, and everybody loves you.

Hurst2112 05-19-2006 02:08 PM

Fluff....

Oops!

st.cronin 05-19-2006 02:15 PM

Bullpen catcher for a baseball team.

Schmidty 05-19-2006 02:22 PM

Librarian.

I was seriously considering going for a Library Science degree, before deciding to go with English. I still regret that decision.

Not to mention getting paid about 6 bucks an hour. If you're lucky.

sterlingice 05-20-2006 10:56 AM

I have two- I always wanted to play outfield in Wrigley for about 20 years.

Barring that, I've also want to create the (highly interactive but with huge collection) Video Game Museum and be head curator.

Young Drachma 05-20-2006 03:38 PM

I wish I'd been good enough to play tennis professionally. But I'll settle for the senior tour of golf when I reach 50. That'll work.

I think I won that crown years ago.

I've been a reviewer (movies for a daily newspaper, and PC sports games, for CGW before I started making them). I enjoyed it, but I don't think I'd want to do that full-time.

My answer would be professional baseball player, no question about it. Not that I'm a good athlete.

Vince 05-20-2006 04:28 PM

Hands down, professional baseball player. When I was a kid, I had the notion that I was good enough, too...

Honestly, today, I would PAY a team to let me play for them. Just to suit up and take the field at an MLB game would be the most amazing thing that I could ever do.

Izulde 05-20-2006 05:48 PM

Other---founder of my own independent nation.

Airhog 05-21-2006 12:48 PM

demolitions expert. Blowing shit up is cool!!!

pennywisesb 05-21-2006 08:30 PM

Well, I know you said we couldn't say our current job, but being a fireman is probably the best job in the world. Sure, a professional athlete would be pretty awesome, but I wouldn't trade my job for the world.

INDalltheway 05-21-2006 09:49 PM

I wouldn't have the stomach for this. Just think about some of the ugly, stinky, nasty, skanky HOs that would come your way.

Give me the shakes just thinking about it.
