NFL Week 12 Sunday games thread

Arrington takes the opening kickoff to the house for a TD.

Cards 7 Vikes 0

Boy, that was fast!

JonInMiddleGA 11-26-2006 12:09 PM

Brees to Henderson 76 yds for a quick TD.
7-0 Saints over Falcons.

Vince 11-26-2006 12:11 PM

Manny Lawson with a beautiful leaping interception of Marc Bulger. Rams offense was moving pretty methodically on the Niners before that, though.

Edit: Challenged, but ruling on the field stood. What a great play.

RedKingGold 11-26-2006 12:12 PM

A lot of quick scoring so far today.

Baltimore, New Orleans, and Arizona all scoring on first possession.

I'm depending on you to keep me updated on the SF-STL game. I'm pissed I don't have it on TV.

I've got you covered until the laptop runs out of juice :)

Gore looking good with an 11 yard run to start things out.

JonInMiddleGA 11-26-2006 12:14 PM

Vikings answer, C.Taylor 7 carries/53 yds & a TD. Now 7-7.
(notable largely because I've got Taylor starting for my woeful fantasy team this week)

Vince 11-26-2006 12:21 PM

Boo. Swing pass to Gore comes up inches short on 3rd Down, and we have to punt. Jackson is running real well, and the line is providing him with nice holes. The Niners really need to step up.

Rams with a first down.

Vince 11-26-2006 12:26 PM

WOOO! Holt fumbles, returned for a TD by Walt Harris. He's the one that also caused the fumble.

Blech, should be challenged, not sure if it'll stay there. Holt didn't have possession for long, if he did.

Vince 11-26-2006 12:29 PM

F***. Incomplete pass.

For the record, I think he DID have possession, but according to the rules, he's gotta make a move related to football, and he didn't. Boo.

Buccaneer 11-26-2006 12:30 PM

Go Saints.

Vince 11-26-2006 12:47 PM

Damn. Antonio Bryant (who isn't having a good week) gets called for a holding penalty to negate a 15 yard Gore run, we have to punt for a touchback. Blech.

Icy 11-26-2006 12:53 PM

Vick is going to beat some records today if he keeps running that way.

Vince 11-26-2006 12:58 PM

Blech. Jackson is running all over us. We really need to learn how to tackle him.

Vince 11-26-2006 12:59 PM

Held them to a field goal, at least.

I wish we'd just cut Bryant's ass. I was one of his bigger fans in college, but he just does not have the mental makeup to translate into using his physical abilities,

Vince 11-26-2006 01:05 PM

Gah! Interception, Rams.

Edit -- Just a bad throw. Rookie CB gets called for taunting after the pick.

RedKingGold 11-26-2006 01:08 PM

God, Vick is just running all over the freaking place today.

Vince 11-26-2006 01:08 PM

Are you freaking kidding me?!!!? Arnaz Battle, hold onto the ball on a punt return!!!

Vince 11-26-2006 01:09 PM

F***. Stephen Jackson with a 20 yard TD run after the fumbled punt return.

Alan T 11-26-2006 01:09 PM

49ers fumble on the punt return.. 49ers are shooting themselves in the foot big time this game. The Rams aren't beating them, they are beating themselves.

Whats going on with Vick in the Falcons game? Im stuck with the 49ers game since I'm in San fran this last week.

Oh.. first play after fumble, rams run for a long TD... guess Rams are beating them too. 49ers need to pick it up if they are going to win this.

Ironically, that's why I'm not too worried. Our offense should have a bunch of points, so as long as we can eliminate the mental mistakes, we should be able to get back into this game. What does worry me is that Jackson is running all over us.

Vick stats at 4 minutes from halftime:

Passing: 6/13 for 30 yards
Rushing: 9 for 127 yards

I guess it says it all :)

You forgot the point that the Falcons trail the Saints 14-3.

QB Running All Over Place does not equal Wins.

Vince 11-26-2006 01:19 PM

Nice, nice drive. Couple of 25 yard passes to Antonio Bryant, then Frank Gore with a nice 10+ yard run for the TD.

You're not missing anything :D

kingfc22 11-26-2006 01:29 PM

Damn it

Vince 11-26-2006 01:30 PM

Stupid Frerrotte. Nice pass to Curtis, who gets out of bounds with 3 seconds left, and Wilkins hits a 51-yard field goal to go up 13-7 at the half.

Bulger got nicked, but he should be back for the second half.

RedKingGold 11-26-2006 01:31 PM

WOW! Saint's last minute TD catch on a Hail Mary before the half!

Edit: There were like 7 Falcon d-backs down there! How the hell did that happen!

Buccaneer 11-26-2006 01:32 PM

Woohoo. No Martyball for Brees this season.

Lorena 11-26-2006 01:33 PM

Holy shit!! Drew Brees is the freaking MAN!!

Lorena 11-26-2006 01:33 PM

Wow, I'm in awe of that pass... unfreakingbelievable.

GrantDawg 11-26-2006 01:34 PM

Dear Mr. Blank,

Please fire everyone currently on staff for the Altlanta Falcons.

Sincerely,
Sick and tired of this crap

Heck, there is no Martyball for the Chargers either. I am still happy for Brees, however and that was just an amazing hailmary.

Because D'Angelo Hall wanted a pick to add to his numbers/bonus rewards instead of just defending the pass away. That's how.

AlexB 11-26-2006 01:41 PM

Dola, but it was a good heave from Brees and excellent hustle by Copper

Eaglesfan27 11-26-2006 01:44 PM

Have a few friends over - we've all enjoyed this Atlanta - New Orleans game. Very entertaining.

I know but that didn't seem to had helped Brees the previous two seasons.

Buccaneer 11-26-2006 01:58 PM

The Atlanta crowd booed the team after their first series in the 2nd half. Don't they know that'll hurt Vick's feelings. Nothing but a long run will take care of that, as long as they keep hitting FGs while the Saints score TDs.

kingfc22 11-26-2006 02:06 PM

Man, we ALWAYS us that same roll out play to the right inside the 5 and it NEVER works. Just give the ball to Gore and let him pound it.

RedKingGold 11-26-2006 02:07 PM

Updates on the 49er game?

kingfc22 11-26-2006 02:07 PM

TD Eric Johnson!

kingfc22 11-26-2006 02:07 PM

XP will make it 14-13 SF. It's good.

Vince 11-26-2006 02:07 PM

TD 49ers! Nice, 12 or 13 play drive. Pending Extra Point, should be 14-13 Niners.

Crapshoot 11-26-2006 02:29 PM

Vick is being impressive - 159 running yards so far.

Vince 11-26-2006 02:34 PM

Ok, Niners with a big first down. Under 10 minutes left and up by one, our ball on our own 30.

Nice run by Gore gets us near midfield.

Philliesfan980 11-26-2006 02:34 PM

Wow, Roddy White is brutal. I think Vick might kill him.

JeeberD 11-26-2006 02:34 PM

Roddy White...LOL.

Philliesfan980 11-26-2006 02:38 PM

I really like Jim Mora JR dropping down to his knees reacting to White's drop. I don't think I've ever seen that before.

kingfc22 11-26-2006 02:39 PM

Niners O-Line is dominating the Rams D-Line right now.

Ditto.

Man, I'm not rooting for the Falcons but that hurt. Poor Vick; he stood in the pocket, took the hit and everything. Everyone's reaction on the sidelines says it all.

Exactly

kingfc22 11-26-2006 02:40 PM

Niners have knocked about 6-7 minutes off the clock by moving the ball around 60 yards on the ground this drive.

Big 3rd and short coming up.

Lorena 11-26-2006 02:42 PM

I mean right on the numbers... come on, you gotta make those catches

kingfc22 11-26-2006 02:43 PM

Rams guys gets blocked into Robinson and that is the ony way they stop them on that play.

kingfc22 11-26-2006 02:44 PM

Nedney FG makes it 17-13 with just under 4 minutes to go.

Come on D!

Exactly. When his recievers drop gifts, you understand why he has no faith in them.

kingfc22 11-26-2006 02:46 PM

Sack by B.Y. on first down.

kingfc22 11-26-2006 02:47 PM

4th and 1 for the Rams at their own 29.

2:31 to go and they have 2 TO's left.

Well, the pass was underthrown. But still, he absolutely should have caught it...

Vince 11-26-2006 02:48 PM

Damn.

kingfc22 11-26-2006 02:48 PM

First down Rams as Jackson runs for 5

kingfc22 11-26-2006 02:53 PM

Rams down to the SF 18...

kingfc22 11-26-2006 02:55 PM

Cutler announced as Denver's new starter.

Rams have 4th and 1 at the SF 14

kingfc22 11-26-2006 02:56 PM

damn it

kingfc22 11-26-2006 02:56 PM

TD STL :(

tanglewood 11-26-2006 02:56 PM

Our studio analyst on the UK coverage hit the nail on the head for Atlanta in this game: "Roddy White couldn't catch the bubonic plague in the 14th century."

Vince 11-26-2006 02:57 PM

:(

kingfc22 11-26-2006 02:59 PM

Another coulda woulda shoulda game for the Niners this season.

ISiddiqui 11-26-2006 03:02 PM

If I was Jim Mora, I'd fire all the recievers and start over... actually I think he's incredibly close to doing so.

Can you imagine ANYONE in the states saying that? I think Michael Irvin's head would explode.

Philliesfan980 11-26-2006 03:08 PM

I HATE FOX and their stupid "regional coverage decisions". Why am I, a guy in the Philadelphia Metro region stuck watching the Giants vs. the Titans. If I was in Middle - North Jersey, I could understand. Someone really needs to fix this next year. I should be watching the Bears lose to NE right now.

When I watch players reaching for a ball on their tippy toes close to the sideline to get a first down, plays like the one White missed is just inexcusable; they're down 8 points and the Saints had the momentum the entire game, they HAVE to make those catches.

I think Roddy White was the biggest coach killer today

SirFozzie 11-26-2006 03:27 PM

One of these Days, Brady is going to just pull out a gun and shoot the receiver coming back after one of those fumble/INT's that go on his stats but are the Receiver's fault

SirFozzie 11-26-2006 03:54 PM

Sheesh, can anyone hold onto the ball in NE?

As mentioned before, the recievers are the Coach Killers (see Mora on his knees after the big drop of the day).

Oh shit, that looks NASTY on Seau, if I had to guess, he just played his last game of the year

While Vick was hit right as he threw, it almost looked purposefuly underthrown, to get White some seperation with the DB. White was all alone with the DB at least 5 yards away... seemed to be a bit more deliberate than accidental.

Buccaneer 11-26-2006 05:24 PM

No need to panic...yet.

SirFozzie 11-26-2006 05:37 PM

ANOTHER tipball INT, What the Mashuggana?

k0ruptr 11-26-2006 05:37 PM

SirFozzie 11-26-2006 05:44 PM

OH COME ON!

SirFozzie 11-26-2006 05:45 PM

The score is now Patriots 10, Refs 6, Bears 3

Coffee Warlord 11-26-2006 05:45 PM

Referees have decided that the Bears are going to score here. Period.

terpkristin 11-26-2006 05:45 PM

So the FOX commentators were praising the refs for getting it right during the first half, what has happened the 2nd half? That's 2 SERIOUSLY dubious calls that cost the Pats 7 points...

/tk

airulf 11-26-2006 05:46 PM

Two weak calls in favor of the Bears. Hmmm.

Raiders Army 11-26-2006 05:48 PM

That was a fumble! Two ref conferences and the Raiders might still have the ball.

airulf 11-26-2006 05:51 PM

Great catch by Watson. To bad the double reverse didn't work out on the next play.
