NFL Week 7

Turnover fest in Houston so far...

DaddyTorgo 10-21-2007 12:25 PM

14-0 Pats so far after 10 minutes. Brady 7/7 with 2 td's, Pats offense outgaining the Dolphins by a 50:1 ratio

DeToxRox 10-21-2007 12:26 PM

Give brady the fucking MVP right now, this is absurd. 23 TD - 2 INT?

JeeberD 10-21-2007 12:27 PM

Glad I grabbed Kyle Brady at the last minute for the Alma Mater fantasy league... :)

5:41 left in the first quarter and there have been FOUR turnovers so far!

dolphins score. Pats run ensuing kickoff back 74 yds (they kicked short away from ellis hobbes) for a td

40 TD / 2 INT after the Dolphins game.

jeff061 10-21-2007 12:55 PM

Moss is crazy.

JeeberD 10-21-2007 01:00 PM

Holy crap, what a catch by Moss!

jeff061 10-21-2007 01:01 PM

So when do you not throw to Moss?

When Welker is open for a TD.

You and me
We come from different worlds
You like to laugh at me
When I look at other girls
Sometimes you're crazy
And you wonder why
I'm such a baby
Cause the Dolphins make me cry

jeff061 10-21-2007 01:07 PM

Another one. Just keep throwing jump ball bombs to Moss in the end zone.

molson 10-21-2007 01:07 PM

Good lord - 35-7 Pats, 6 minutes before halftime. 4 TDs already for Brady, including 2 jump balls to Moss.

Raiders Army 10-21-2007 01:07 PM

Just fucking ridiculous here. Randy Moss!?!?!?!?!

sterlingice 10-21-2007 01:08 PM

Sweet Jesus. Tom Brady with another quality fantasy day... in the first half.

SI

JeeberD 10-21-2007 01:09 PM

And to think that I was afraid I may have been pushing it with my 48-10 prediction for this game...

jeff061 10-21-2007 01:09 PM

Brady: 11/11, 220, 4/0. Brady's like Pedro Martinez during his peak with the Sox, I keep waiting for an off day and he just ratchets the expectations up.

Crapshoot 10-21-2007 01:10 PM

Wait, NE has 35 in the first half? Is this team trying to win, or destroy? Just wow.

DaddyTorgo 10-21-2007 01:10 PM

this really isn't fair

DaddyTorgo 10-21-2007 01:11 PM

holy shit...really this isn't fair

Rizon 10-21-2007 01:12 PM

In all seriousness: Should the Dolphins be contracted? They aren't making any real effort this season, and haven't for a while now, and won't again for the near future.

DaddyTorgo 10-21-2007 01:13 PM

can brady throw another one or two in the half and then take the 2nd half off??

Rizon 10-21-2007 01:15 PM

The Dolphins should be ashamed. The NFL should really step in and do something about this team. Just call the game at halftime.

Rizon 10-21-2007 01:16 PM

TOM BRADY INCOMPLETION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

larrymcg421 10-21-2007 01:20 PM

The sad thing is Huizenga will probably make excuses for Cameron, saying it's a rebuilding year and we need to give him a chance. So he'll get at least another season to destroy the team some more. That's the scary part. The Dolphins are only going to get worse.

DeToxRox 10-21-2007 01:21 PM

Jeff Garcia has 18 consecutive completions vs Detroit .. Detroit is up 10-7 somehow and driving.

I believe that after all the ruckus over the videotaping, most especially the questioning of the credibility of their 3 Super Bowl wins, the answer is clearly "destroy". Simmons had a good point last week about the "F-U TD" they keep scoring in each game.

Do you really think the coach is the problem right now? I mean, what do you think a great coach does with this team?

I think my blame goes like this:

1) Huizenga: For running this team into the ground since he bought it.
2) Mueller: Overrated GM who hasn't made the right moves in Miami.
3) Cameron: Way in over his head. Great coordinator, poor coach.

Not counting any of the previous morons who have helped drive this team into the ground, like Saban and Wanny.

Well the coach is largely at fault for the current state of the team. Sure it was bad when he got here, but he made it worse with horrible personnel decisions. I see no reason why he'll suddenly make great personnel decisions in the future. Furthermore, some really bad playcalling definitely cost us one win and probably two others.

Rizon 10-21-2007 01:30 PM

GameCenter has a Dolphins DL kicking the last punt? Did that happen? Are we trying out new punters now?

Rizon 10-21-2007 01:32 PM

For what it's worth:

Welker: 95 total yards (2nd round pick)
Ginn: 70 total yards (1st round pick)

larrymcg421 10-21-2007 01:32 PM

This still won't be the most embarassing game in Dolphins history. We can thank Jimmy for that.

jeff061 10-21-2007 01:32 PM

So 5 TDs in the 1st half for Mr. Brady.

Raiders Army 10-21-2007 01:33 PM

Runnin' up the score.

DaddyTorgo 10-21-2007 01:33 PM

#5 for Brady in the first half.

10 td's in 6 quarters.

brady's going for a career-high in td's in this game I think and then he'll take a seat for most the 2nd half

Rizon 10-21-2007 01:33 PM

Brady: 5th TD

OMG

Icy 10-21-2007 01:33 PM

This is really embarrasing for the Dolphins fans to watch, can't we just give out and don't play the second half?

DaddyTorgo 10-21-2007 01:34 PM

does this answer once and for all the

"Brady vs. Manning" debate??

jeff061 10-21-2007 01:35 PM

I'm pretty loose on the definition of "running it up". I'm good with that drive where they just embarrassed them even though the score was already 35-7. But now's the time to take it easy :).

Nah, that will never be answered and I'm ok with that. The only thing we can all agree on is Manning is much more irritating to watch. :p

sterlingice 10-21-2007 01:37 PM

Can you be considered "running up the score" in the first half?

SI

miked 10-21-2007 01:37 PM

I have Brady, Moss and WAS DEF. With just those 3, I'm already ahead by 50 and I still have LJ, Jordan, Witten and Northcutt.

Raiders Army 10-21-2007 01:37 PM

Times like this I'm glad I have the Sunday Ticket. Time to change the channel.

JeeberD 10-21-2007 01:37 PM

What's the NFL record for TD passes in a game? Seven? Do the Patsies leave Brady in to break the record?

DeToxRox 10-21-2007 01:38 PM

Running up the score doesn't exist in Pro Football.

The Colts have a pretty good record too right now.

You don't you gain points in that debate by putting up meaningless TDs against the Dolphins, even though it's fun to watch.

Rizon 10-21-2007 01:39 PM

Just watched the two TDs by Moss: Wow, both on double-coverage. I didn't catch the DBs the Dolphins had, but I was surprised to see R. Hill is STILL on the roster. He got burned for what, 45 TDs last year? God he sucks.

Rizon 10-21-2007 01:41 PM

You know, I have no problem with the Pats running up the score. I hope they score a 100 points. I'm actually rooting AGAINST my own team, I'm that angry and upset. You know what: Fuck the Dolphins. Fuck all their players and coaches. Fuck Huizenga. Fuck Miami. Fuck them all.

Thomkal 10-21-2007 01:41 PM

well this is the fourth Cardinal game I've been able to watch on TV this season (South Carolina), and while I'm happy about that, I think at this point I'd rather not watch them. Man they are just playing some ugly football right now-2 INT's from Warner (one after a blocked punt), numerous penalties killing what would have been 1st downs. Then they got a gift INT, got a TD off of it (going for it on fourth down), then botched the extra point. It's never easy for my beloved Cards

DeToxRox 10-21-2007 01:44 PM

Big 44 yard TD for Willis McGahee makes my fantasy team smile

JonInMiddleGA 10-21-2007 01:44 PM

Feel free to correct me if I've got this wrong, but best I can tell the record for TD passes in a game is 7 (Manning had a six TD game)

Sid Luckman, Chi. Bears vs. N.Y. Giants, Nov. 14, 1943
Adrian Burk, Philadelphia vs. Washington, Oct. 17, 1954
George Blanda, Houston vs. N.Y. Titans, Nov. 19, 1961
Y.A. Tittle, N.Y. Giants vs. Washington, Oct. 28, 1962
Joe Kapp, Minnesota vs. Baltimore, Sept. 28, 1969

Noooooo :(
(one of my fantasy opponents has him, and I'd really hate to end up losing to a guy who started two players on bye weeks)

Icy 10-21-2007 01:45 PM

I want NE to keep playing Brady at full speed in the second half, i want my loved Dolphins to beat the most allowed TD ever in a game record, to end this season 0-16, to see the fans in front of Huizenga home blamming him and let's see if that way finally somebody at he Dolphins ownership could realize they are doing something wrong.

Every year? Including the ones he flamed out against the Pats in the playoffs.

The debate keeps getting better though. I always thought Manning was maybe a stronger all-around QB, but Brady's a better choice if you have less talent around the QB to work with.

Brady's a piece of a amazing Patriots machine. I'm sure Manning would also be unstoppable with this WR crew and O-line backing him up. But I'd also like to see what Manning could do with Reche Caldwell as his main WR.

100% agree as i said in my post.

cartman 10-21-2007 01:50 PM

Houston's offense has been pathetic. They only managed 24 yards in the entire first half. If Tennessee could do more than kick field goals, this game would be over already. As it is, the score is 22-7.

GrantDawg 10-21-2007 01:50 PM

For the two people who care...

Leftwich has looked decent, but the announcers make it sound like he has been a huge upgrade. Honestly, it looks almost identical to me. Joey and Byron look good when they have time, but whenever there is a blitz, the qb goes down. Why there aren't at least 5 guys coming every play versus the Falcons is beyond me. Zone= completion, blitz= sack.

DeToxRox 10-21-2007 01:53 PM

49ers are so abysmal offensivley it's not even funny.

Probably because its New Orleans. Their secondary is so bad if they blitz its as good as leaving the Falcons receivers uncovered.

JeeberD 10-21-2007 01:57 PM

Titans kicker Rod Bironas just made his sixth FG of the day with most of the second half left. The NFL record for one game is seven, so he has a damn good shot at breaking that...

Which doesn't matter if the qb is on the ground. Give Byron time, and they are going to open anyway. It is the same story all season. I have yet to figure out why anyone plays zone versus the Falcons.

GrantDawg 10-21-2007 02:00 PM

Leftwich is down. Who had the first drive in the second-half in the pool?

At this point, shouldn't we expect this? The only good player on the team, and best RB the Dolphins have had in 20+ years, and he has a potentially serious injury.

These announcers are terrible. My favorite part of the game so far was at the end of the first half when they said that Leftwich has breathed new life into the Falcons and "has the 1-5 falcons ahead of the defending NFC South Champions!" as though this would be the upset of the year if Atlanta won.

Icy 10-21-2007 02:27 PM

Question about Football sportsmanship. I'm not used in any other PRO sport where to keep scoring after winning by a good margin is thought as unsportsmanlike. For example, in soccer, if Real Madrid is winning 5-0 FB Barcelona, the fans will demand R.Madrid players to try to score more to beat a record and to humiliate the rival team.

I have read in different forums critics against the Pats for keeping on trying to score more but... what should they do? just to run the ball and kill time? umm well, I can understand it, but... then shouldn't Miami also stop to try to score? Else... what about if the loosing team scores again, and again and again and end loosing by 3 or even winning? would that be fair?

That is why i don't understand how to keep scoring is unsportsmanlike, if you want the winning team to stop to score, and the loosing one should stop to try to score too, then... why to keep playing? just throw the towel as in boxing and stop acting like playing a real PRO sport game.

I disagree with it being unsportsmanlike. This is a group of guys playing, not a group of crying women and children. If you don't have the skill to hang with the big boys, then just go home and do Accounting.

I remember several years ago, a pitcher from the Giants (Ortiz) I think, got really upset with a team stealing against him while they had a 5 run lead. He threw a HUGE fit about it. Next day, the Giants blew a 5 run lead to lose. Karma.

That being said, the Pats haven't made hardly any serious attempts to move the ball against the Dolphins in the second half. I see no reason to bash them.

Miami Dolphins

Cobbs remained of the practice squad of the Miami Dolphins until November 27 when he was promoted to the active roster. The team was in need of depth at the running back position after starter Ronnie Brown suffered a broken hand in a Thanksgiving Day contest against the Detroit Lions just a few days prior to Cobbs' promotion.

He went on to play on special teams for three games before being inactive for the final two after Brown's return. Cobbs remains under contract with the Dolphins in 2007, and will likely compete for a backup job in training camp, given that both Sammy Morris and Travis Minor - the team's top two backups in 2006 - have since signed with other teams as unrestricted free agents. He has 2 carries for the 2007 season vs. New England and has 1 TD with 2 yards.

Christ...after a Titans punt, the Sage Rosenfels throws another pick. There have got to be like eight turnovers in this game so far...

Thomkal 10-21-2007 03:01 PM

what a bizarre ending to the cards game. Rattay comes in for one play, throws the TD. Go for the 2 point conversion with Rattay lined up as a slot receiver and Boldin as the QB. They hike it to Boldin who does a half-hearted job of running it towards the end zone, then throws it into the end zone and is intercepted.

Then on the on-side kick the cards recover and are now in FG range for a potential game winner.

JeeberD 10-21-2007 03:03 PM
