(238) Sebastian Janikowski K I feel I'm weak at DEF/K but in my experience they don't get you consistently a lot of points. My draft was all about potential as I think Bowe and Gonzalez are going to do very well here. I think I have some good backups with Jackson when Moss gets hurt and Buckhalter when Westbrook gets hurt. |
What do you mean "Jackson when Moss gets hurt?"
|
Yup, looks like the wrong Jackson...
|
Not to be hateful but I think the team has some real holes. You don't have a single established WR on your team. Yes, I expect Gonzalez to be good but Bowe still has crap throwing to him and Gates sounds like he's banged up pretty good. As good as Hester has been, return TDs are just not a consistent measure of points.
You have RB who is coming off a broken ankle and another one who is a rookie. I'd give it a C- at best. |
I noticed receptions are worth 1 point in your league and Willie Parker doesn't catch many balls. You should have gotten a better pass-catching RB (ones that catch 40 or more balls) or a top tier wide receiver with that pick.
I do like the Dwayne Bowe pick in the 4th round. Kevin Smith in the 5th round is also a pretty solid pick considering the he's nearly a lock to be the starting RB in Detroit. |
I would say that the place you probably need to improve is running back, even if Kevin Smith starts in Detroit. Parker is not going to be getting a lot of carries inside the 20 as the Steelers are loving Mendenhall. He, as Racer pointed out, doesn't catch many balls as well so he's almost a liability in PRP league. Honestly, I would probably look to add Mendenhall possibly to take advantage of his possible goal line carries plus, you talk about being covered for injuries, Parker is one I wouldn't be surprised to see get hurt again. For being "fast Willie Parker", he doesn't break many for finding the endzone. Sorry, part of that is Steeler fan rant and part of that is FF strategy.
I do believe that Hester is a decent pick when you got him. Even if he doesn't catch a lot of balls, he'll still find the endzone several times over the course of the year, which should be a nice bonus. PLUS, it's not like you're counting on him to be a huge scorer as you have Bowe (solid value where you got him), Gonzalez, and Jackson ahead of him. I would be concerned about not having a big scoring receiver but Bowe might be primed to do that just that. I would've been curious to see what three or four players went right after Parker in your draft. Overall, I would probably give you a C/C- but, as you know with the new NFL and parity, anything can happen. |
Solid C, as other have said, some glaring holes, but you're set at a couple spots as wel.

Round 2 1. Ryan Grant El Paso Lonestars 2. Laurence Maroney Wednesday Spank 3. Willie Parker Weedeaters 4. Maurice Jones-Drew Oklahoma Outlaws 5. Braylon Edwards Cowboyz 6. Andre Johnson Vikings of El Paso 7. Brandon Jacobs BlackJack Maroney getting picked right before me screwed things up since I was targeting him. I really debated picking Edwards since he got me some really good points last year. Larry Fitzgerald was the other one that I thought about, but for the most part there were a lot of good WRs left on the board at the point I picked Parker and RBs were going out fast. |
Jones-Drew over Parker in this format is a no-brainer.... right?
|
Out of curiosity, where did Reggie Bush go?
|
I wouldn't have gone with Manning in the 1st in this format, especially with the recent injury concerns.
|
Quote:
For sure...especially with the Steelers spending their first pick on a RB. |
Great QB and TE if injuries aren't an issue, decent RBs, and weak WRs. It should be ok for a 16 team league. Who went 15th and 16th in the 1st round?
I just drafted and here's my team. I picked 9/12. How does it look? QB P. Manning RB Gore RB Thomas Jones WR Boldin WR Calvin Johnson TE Dallas Clark K Josh Brown DEF Jacksonville On the bench I have Driver, Mendenhall, Kevin Smith, Crayton, Kitna, and Chris Baker. |
I'm not sold on the Buckhalter pick either, I think Booker will take alot of his carries, and he hasn't exactly been a model of health
|

Round 2 14. Matt Schaub Houston Texans 15. Drew Brees El Paso Miners 16. T.J. Houshmandzadeh Texas Bandits Round 3 1. Marques Colston Texas Bandits 2. Reggie Bush El Paso Miners 3. Donald Driver Houston Texans |
Wait...you let Bush go in exchange for Parker? or even jones-drew???
Breez was available and you took Manning with a big question-mark at his kneecaps? You just got dropped from a C to a D- Jas-lov: I actually like that squad, depending on how the draft went down anyway (see my reaction to RA's situation. if you didn't make a glaring mistakes there then I'd give your team a B+, solid, strong in places with no glaring weak spots. |
Willie Parker will not end the year as the Steelers starting running back. His novelty act has got to be wearing thin on the staff by now. Plus the steelers have one on of the worst lines in the league right now.
|
For once I agree with my Steeler-suckling comrade. Parker was one of those flashes that looks good on paper but won;t stand the test of time. mendenhall is going to be a rock for them though, damnit.
|
Quote:
You might try to trade for Reggie Bush in case that owner doesn't know what he stumbled upon. In real life he probably isn't a very good running back. However, in fantasy leagues where receptions are worth 1 point each, he is easily one of the top 10 fantasy running backs. |
Okay...I'm bummed out now, but really, thanks for your honesty and help!
|
Where did Chris Perry go? He's a wildcard because he could get injured again, but if he's healthy it looks like he'll be the starting running back and in his only healthy season he caught 51 passes as little more than a third down back. If you can get him cheap he might pay off big.
|
12 team league with default yahoo scoring.
What to you guys think of my draft? Picked 8th/12: QB Hasselbeck RB Portis RB L. Johnson WR Boldin WR Welker WR M. Harrison TE D. Lee K Gould D Steelers Bench: Favre, Stallworth, Mendenhall, Lendale White, and Julius Jones. |
Well according to "Anthony" if your fantasy draft ain't got midget it ain't sh*t!!!
|

|
Quote:
Enjoy the frustration of owning Portis. I've done it twice and you know you're greedy but when you watch it happen, you just can't help thinking he's even better than he shows. |
Honestly, RA, your team is going to have trouble competing for the playoffs, let alone a title.
Manning is solid, but Parker doesn't score TD's or catch passes, and Mendenhall is going to be a force. He's the future at RB in the Steel City and will see his share of carries this season. Gates has been beat up, and is getting very close to being an injury risk. I love Kevin Smith but the Lions OL is atrocious, and it'll be a long time until he becomes a solid contributor. Your WR's are unproven guys with high upside .. a fantasy nightmare. Bowe has no QB to throw to him and is a focal point to defenses now, and Gonzalez is still just a fourth option. I'd go on but I think you better hit the waiver wire hard at WR and maybe look at some other options at RB. |
Quote:
(If you believe you can predict a season based on one or two series of a pre-season game.) (Which I emphatically do.) |
Quote:
I think he's had fumblitis all pre-season though, and wouldn't be surprised if he's slowly brought in instead of given carries at the start. His stock has fallen a bit with me. |
12 team ESPN Auction League. Obviously, my opponents are about as smart as play-doh. Grant was the first player I selected and the most expensive at $31 ($200 budget, some idiot spent 82 on LT). He was the 3rd player nominated. Another 41 players went by until I picked again, at which point this quickly became silly.
QB: Schaub, Delhomme RB: Grant, McGahee, Stewart, Chris Johnson, Watson WR: Colston, TJ, Andre Johnson, Roy Williams, Randle-El, Curry TE: Cooley Defense: Vikings |
12 Team League...Default Scoring...I had the 4th pick in a snake draft
QB Drew Brees, Tavaris Jackson RB Brian Westbrook, Laurence Maroney, Ronnie Brown, Leon Washington WR Roy Williams, Reggie Brown, Anthony Gonzalez, Javon Walker, Bryant Johnson, TE Kellen Winslow, LJ Smith K Stephen Gostkowski Def Dallas |
Quote:
In my 12-team $200 budget auction league, LT went for $105. He went for $97 last year. $82 almost seems low. |
Quote:
I think his average auction value is somewhere in the $70s range. |
10-team draft, snake style (is there really any other way?), I was in the 8th position. It is a keeper league (my keepers are noted) with keepers taking up the 1st and 2nd round picks. I also had an additional 4th round pick (noted) and did not have a 16th rounder. I don't have the list right in front of me, so I will try and remember who I all got.
QB: B. Rothelisburger, J. Campbell RB: J. Addai (keeper), M. Lynch (keeper), S. Young, J. Fargas, K. Smith, F. Jones WR: R. Wayne, B. Marshall, S. Holmes (my additional 4th rounder), R. White, C. Chambers TE: T. Scheffler DEF: Colts K: R. Bironas Quite happy with how things shaped up. The keeper aspect really changes how you draft. I kept my top two back, so I went WR with my first three picks (Wayne, Marshall, Holmes) and I think I have a pretty well-rounded team. I got pretty much everyone I was targeting, or at least in the same tier. |
The only league I'm in drafts tomorrow, I'll let you know how it goes =)
|
Illustrates the problems that come with taking a QB with your first pick. I'd be shocked if your team makes the playoffs.

Man, just had my keeper league draft. I won last year and kept Brady, Moss, Grant, Larry Johnson, had to say goodbye to Selvin Young, Witten, Andre Johnson, and more.
QB: Brady RB: Grant RB: L. Johnson WR: R. Moss WR: Burleson WR: Gonzalez TE: Witten DEF: Eagles K: Dawson Bench: Mike Hart, Ahman Green, Reggie Brown, James Jones, Robert Meachem, Matt Ryan. Not thrilled with the WRs, but I also had traded my 1st pick (#14) for Grant last season. |

6 TDs for everything, .5 points a reception. Everything else is fairly standard I think... this is a 12-team silent auction league:
QB: Jay Cutler RB: Clinton Portis RB: Maurice Jones-Drew WR/TE: Santonio Holmes WR/TE: Jerricho Cotchery DEF/ST: Steelers K: Stephan Gostkowski Bench: Ronnie Brown Bench: Roddy White Bench: Dwayne Bowe |

Every squad is stacked as well. If Addai plays well, maybe I'll have a chance though. First three picks were LT, Westbrook, AP. I had to debate Jackson vs Addai, I hope I didn't make the wrong call there. We'll see if Gore can bounce back, or if Bush decides to stop playing like a little girl. |

For the heck of it, I thought I'd go ahead and share all the rosters in my league.
My league went to keeper this year after being non-keeper for five years or so. Anyways, here are the league settings: 1 point/50 yards passing, 1 point/20 yards rushing, 1 point/20 yards receiving, .5 points per reception, 6 points for all touchdowns (including passing), -2 points for lost fumbles and interceptions. Everything else I think is fairly standard. There is fractional scoring meaning 30 yards rushing equals 1.5 points. We start the following positions: 1 QB, 2 RBs, 3 WRs, 1 TE, 1 DEF, & 1 K There are 14 teams in this league. Keeper rules are as follows: -No limits on any position (so you can keep 2 or even 3 running backs). -You can keep 2 or 3 players each year. Keeper rounds are 1-3. Can't see it if we aren't part of the league :-P |

Not really, he has a lot of upside picks at RB with Forte and Johnson, and the way things are shaping up in Cincy, Perry should see quite a bit of action too. |
Quote:
Ah I must have missed that. Yeah, then in that case, I see your point. I don't see why everyone is so high on Bush this year. |
Quote:
I would not draft him in a non PPR league. As long as he continues to get as many catches as he has in the past and can stay healthy (same with every running back), he should continue to be a very good running back in PPR leagues even if continues to be disappointing as a real life running back. |
Here is our scoring:
14 teams in the league....start 1 QB, 1 RB, 3 WR, 1 RB/WR, K Cutler, Edwards Tomlinson, K. Smith, Taylor Colston, Fitzgerald, Marshall, Reg. Williams Graham, Bironas I think if Cutler has a nice season, I have a really good team. |
Quote:
I see you have the double touchdown hookup with Cutler and Marshall. If they have a good season and Tomlinson doesn't get hurt, I can't see your team getting beat. Also, how does your team have two guys that should be taken in the 2nd round and another one in the late third to early fourth round? |
Quote:
Matt Forte was taken in the 2nd and there were a lot of picks in the third round that I couldn't believe people were taking. McNabb, Welker, Coles for crying out loud...even Hasselbeck seemed early. |

I normally don't like these threads, mainly becuase my fantasy teams have generally sucked, but this time I feel pretty good about my team!
Keeper league, 14 teams, points for receptions, 1st downs, bonuses for big plays and multi-tackle games as well as the usual... Quote:
Yeah, thats indeed how it will go, though for the most part the players I took were some of the best at the slots I took them, palmer might have been 1 rnd early and I took Lynch over some other RBs due to what I've seen during the preseason and from last year. I think Lynch is going to be a real monster. The rest, if they play to their normal levels, should keep me in every game. I'm banking on palmer and Lynch givening me really big years though. Probably won;t happen ust BECAUSE I'm banking on it though. |
For some odd reason, I got the email a couple days ago that the draft would be at 10PM EST. I log on my email, start up the draft around 10:03PM just as I got home. I look at the draft, and the guy just drafted Nate Burleson. I'm thinking what the hell? Is this a joke? And then I look at the round, and it says Round 7. I don't know if this has happened to some of the leagues for you guys, but apparently the commissioner likes changing the draft times so that no one makes it. Luckily I picked up some [hopeful] sleepers. Weak WR core, I know, but I'm in the process of trading for one.
League Positions: QB, WR, WR, WR, RB, RB, TE, K, DEF QB: Drew Brees, Matt Ryan RB: Marshawn Lynch, Larry Johnson, Edgerrin James, Matt Forte, Ricky Williams, Deuce McAllister WR: Wes Welker, Chris Chambers, Reggie Brown, Vincent Jackson TE: Dallas Clark K: Jason Hanson DEF: Seattle Currently on the waivers trying to drop Matt Ryan for Justin Fargas and dropping Seattle DEF for the New York Jets DEF. Keep in mind that this was NOT a PPR league so Wes Welker's value isn't really that high. Anyways, looking to see if you guys have any suggestions on how to go with my team like which WR do you think I should go for? I'm looking to move any player if needed. I have another draft in a different league tonight at 10PM. Will post the rosters in that league later. |

Last weeks draft:
12 team PPR league.
QB: Kitna, VY RB: AP, Jacobs, DeAng Williams, Perry WR: Fitz, Holt, Evans, DeShaun Jackson, S.Moss TE: Cooley, McMichael Other than the QBs which I obviously waited on, this team screams championship. Hopefully roll AP and switch out RB#2 with matchups/health Same thing with Fitz/Holt, and find a spot starter between the others. Again, this was last week when I nabbed Chris Perry in the ninth round long after someone took Rudi. IF youre drafting today, he probably goes 4th round IMO. |
Drafted this last week- 12 teams, PPR, all TDs 6 points, 1pt for 10 rush/rec, 1 pt for 25 pass
picked 12th QB: Brees (2.1), Edwards (16.1) RB: Lynch (1.12) Ronnie Brown (5.12) K Watson (8.1) Rudi Johnson (9.12) T Bell (13.12) WR: A Boldin (3.12) S Holmes (4.1) C Chambers (6.1) B Berrian (7.12) Bryant Johnson (10.1) Sid Rice (11.12) TE: A Crumpler (12.1) K: N Kaeding (14.1) D: Arizona (15.12) We start 1 QB, 1 RB, 1 WR, 1 TE, 2 flex (RB/WR/TE), 1 K and 1 D Intersting strategy by one of my good friends in the league: He grabbed WItten in round 4 and Winslow in round 5, so he'll start 2 TE most (all?) weeks. He got LT with the 2nd pick (AP went first, not real sure about that), then Colston and Braylon Edwards, then the 2 TEs. I honestly think he's the favorite right now, outside of Favre is his QB. I took Watson thinking he'd see most of the carries, then Rudi to hedge my bet. Perry went to someone else about a round later. :( |
Oh yeah, big difference in quality at QB if your league is 4pts pass td or 6pts.
|
You did real well B&B, especially with the way Perry looks like it will work out.
|
I tried to push people towards Perry earlier. He's certainly not a top ten back and he's an injury risk, but especially in a PPR league he would have been great value.

Libid, your best option might be trying to package a RB and WR for a better WR. Just throwing out names here for example, but package one of Edge/Forte & one of your WR for a lower #1 tier/ upper #2 tier WR, like a Boldin or Burress. |

Ok.. I'm pretty terrified of my team honestly. It's a 12 team league with Points Per Reception my philosophy was to draft as many good backs with good reception totals as possible.
you start 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 rb or WR (flex), 1 TE, D, K Qb: Bulger, Rivers RB: Addai, Jones-Drew, McFadden, Ronnie Brown, Kenny Watson WR: Ocho Cinco, D. Bowe, Reggie Brown, Vincent Jackson, Mark Clayton TE: Tony Scheffler (there was a huge run so I basically punted the position.) D : Titans, Packers K : Gould |

How many teams? Really deep at WR. One injury away from problems at RB. QB leaves some questions, but with pass TD = 4 points, not as damaging possibly. Schaub might be your best bet. |

10 teams...looking to pry Westbrook from a guy, but figure it'll cost me a decent wide receiver. |
Need some advice. Here's our scoring system.
Passing Yards (50 yards per point; 5 points at 400 yards) Passing Touchdowns (6) Interceptions (-1) Rushing Yards (20 yards per point; 5 points at 220 yards) Rushing Touchdowns (6) Reception Yards (15 yards per point; 5 points at 200 yards) Reception Touchdowns (6) Return Touchdowns (6) 2-Point Conversions (2) Fumbles Lost (-2) Offensive Fumble Return TD (6) Field Goals 0-19 Yards (2) Field Goals 20-29 Yards (3) Field Goals 30-39 Yards (3) Field Goals 40-49 Yards (4) Field Goals 50+ Yards (5) Point After Attempt Made (1) Sack (1) Interception (2) Fumble Recovery (2) Touchdown (6) Safety (2) Block Kick (2) Points Allowed 0 points (10) Points Allowed 1-6 points (7) Points Allowed 7-13 points (4) Points Allowed 14-20 points (1) Points Allowed 21-27 points (0) Points Allowed 28-34 points (-1) Points Allowed 35+ points (-4) Two positions I've been going back and forth on who to start. Ricky Williams or Edgerrin James. Arizona or San Diego defense. What do you guys think? |
Quote:
I would go San Diego's D just because they can grind it out with LT and control the clock. As for Williams vs. James, hmm. James has been a roster-spot killer for me the last two years but I'm still inclined to start him over Ricky Williams but for me, it's close to a coin-toss there. |
I draft tonight in a ppr league. Does anyone have a link to a decent and free either ADP or recent mock draft for a ppr league? Most of the recent mock drafts I'm finding (mockdraft.com, draft calculator, etc.) are for non-ppr leagues. Thanks for any help.

Okay, why not. One more here.
Background = longstanding league, mostly conventional lineup (QB-2RB-2WR-TE-DF, no kickers), passing TD count same as rush/rec, league is historically RB crazy I have pick #2 overall, tried unsuccessfully to trade down a few slots (targeting Brady) but ended up making a major trade to move into mid-2nd round. - - - - - Hasselbeck, Matt QB SEA Garrard, David QB JAC Peterson, Adrian RB MIN Forte, Matt RB CHI Williams, Ricky RB MIA Johnson, Chris RB TEN Hightower, Tim RB ARI Hall, Andre RB DEN Moss, Randy WR NE Johnson, Calvin WR DET Moss, Santana WR WAS Bryant, Antonio WR TB Daniels, Owen TE HOU Cardinals DST - - - - - So, the pivotal decisions: -Traded a lot to get Moss. Basically swapped pick #26 for a 6th rounder to move up a few slots to #17 and get Moss in mid-2nd. I had Moss around #8 on my board overall, so I basically overpaid for the draft slot, but maybe not for the player (in my mind). -Passed on RB depth or Cutler to take WR Calvin Johnson at pick #50. I end up with Hasselbeck (and Garrard soon afterward), but I liked Cutler a good deal better and some solid WRs (including Roy Williams) fell to my next pair of picks. -I'm resigned to playing weekly matchups with my D, and the Cards open with a few weak opponents, so this is just the beginning of doing so. They'll get cut once they face a legitimate offense or two. |
It's going to be difficult for you to start 2 of your backs. I guess your looking at Ap and Forte to start? I like your Wr's alot though so hopefully they can carry you some weeks where your 2nd rb faulters!
|
Yeah, I'm expecting Forte to be pretty much a full-time back -- I think fairly unheralded backs like that tend to be great value in fantasy drafts. Our ability to predict how good teams will be is generally pretty overrated, I think. Anyhow, I took Forte ahead of a few more trendy picks (e.g. Selvin Young went with the next pick, but I like Andre Hall to get a lot of time there and maybe GL duty) but I'm pretty happy with him. It was dicey not getting a third RB early, but I just couldn't pass up the big shiny object there at WR (Calvin) whom I had rated in my top 6-8 at the position.

Here is my draft that I went through last night. I had the 4th pick in a 10 team league.
1.4 - Steven Jackson 2.7 - Marques Colston 3.4 - Drew Brees 4.7 - Michael Turner 5.4 - Greg Jennings 6.7 - Edgerrin James 7.4 - Roddy White 8.7 - Matt Forte 9.4 - Ted Ginn, Jr. 10.7 - Ray Rice 11.4 - Eddie Royal 12.7 - Felix Jones 13.4 - Neil Rackers 14.7 - Jon Kitna 15.4 - Jacksonville 16.7 - Ben Watson My own observations... I took Royal too early for a sleeper. With this group of folks, he would lasted for a while. I didn't want to take Brees because if NOS has a bad week, I am likely screwed. Problem was, he was the best pick available at the time. There wasn't a WR or RB worth taking in this spot. My other choice was Jason Whitten. You see how my TE ended up. I got to a point where all of the TE worh picking were gone, so I think I lucked out getting Watson when I did. I think I did alright overall. This is a league that I have played in for 9 years. There are 7 original owners in the league. Of those 7, I am the only one who hasn't won the league. No one outside of the original group has won yet. |
#2 RB and #2 WR might give you problems throughout the year, but overall looks pretty solid.

Hey guys, any advice would be good here. I feel that this is probably one of the weaker teams I've put together but we'll see. I'm in a 10 team league, I picked 4'th (I didn't want to be at the 4 or 5 spot and got the 4 of course). We are a PPR league. Here's our scoring:
Passing: 1 pt per 20 yds, 6 for a td, -2 for a pick Receiving: 1 pt per catch, 1 pt per 20 yds, 6 for a td Rushing: 1 pt per 10 yards, 6 for a td, -2 for a lost fumble D/ST: 1 pt per 20 return yards, 1 for a sack, 2 for a pick/fumble recovery 0 points allowed=10 pts, 1-6 allowed=7, 7-13=4, 14-20=1, 21-27=0, 28-34= -2, 35 or higher is a -4 K: 3 pts for FG 18-39 yds, 4 for 40-49, 5 for 50+ 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 D, 1 K QB- Hasselbeck (round 8), Favre (11) RB- Steven Jackson (1), Portis (2), Jacobs (6), Selvin Young (10), Rudi Johnson (13) WR- Fitzgerald (3), Burress (4), Bowe (7), Galloway (9), Reggie Brown (12) TE- Witten (5) DEF- NY Giants (14) K- Rackers (15) I guess there's a lot of risk/reward at RB but I do not feel confident that this is even a .500 team. Am I right or wrong on that? |
Eh..sorry. Didn't realize everyone was posting in here.
Standard scoring. 10 teams, I had the 8th pick, snake draft. QB- Peyton Manning QB- Ben Roethlisberger RB- Marshawn Lynch RB- Maurice Jones-Drew WR- Roy Williams WR- Jerricho Cotchery WR- Chris Chambers RB/WR- Fred Taylor TE- Tony Gonzalez DEF- Chargers Defense K- Rob Bironis BE- WR Dante Stallworth BE- QB Jon Kitna BE- RB Justin Fargas |
Quote:
I'm leaning towards starting Gore/Addai/Bush/Jennings/Boldon. Is Calvin Johnson going to be a better play than Bush or either of the WR? I'm not sure which way to go here. No PPR. |
Quote:
Spleen, looking at your 4'th overall pick and mine, it's interesting just how different our drafts played out. Colston and Brees both were off the board by my second pick although I would've been happy to see one fall to me. Turner was actually off the board by my third. I think, as the season goes and some of your younger RBs get established, you may be able to move one of them or (more importantly) Edgerrin for another receiver to gear up for the playoffs. |
Willie Parker did well for me today. :)
