Goin' Down to South Park (now in HD!), Season 13 discussions (prob. has spoilers)
 

It's about that time! Season 13 of South Park kicks off this Wednesday, March 11th, 10pm Eastern. And, if your provider carries Comedy Central in HD, the new season will be in High Def!

That ending was hilarious. Good start to the new episodes.

I thought it was a solid episode. They did a great spoof on the crime fighting genre. And it is always great to see Professor Chaos make an appearance. But it was a bit of a let down compared to the instant classic that was the opening episode of this season.

Now, on to this week's episode. It has some great expectations. It evidently will focus on Randy, and his plan to fix the economy.

It was a good Watchmen parody. The Bruce Valanch part had me rolling.

Wait, I thought the last episode was 100% a Dark Knight parody? Other than the fact that there existed multiple superheroes, all of the specific things that they were making fun of came directly from the Dark Knight, didn't it?

The opening sequence is from The Watchmen, but yes, the bulk of it was drawn from The Dark Knight.

Yeah, a small bit from Watchmen (the opening specifically), but mostly TDK.

The Bruce Valanch part was hilarious.

I hated last season, but man, if the first two episodes are a glimpse of what's in store, I cannot wait to watch the rest.

Oh my god they are on FIRE. That was absolutely brilliant.

Yeah, another stellar episode. Whatever they did this past season break, they need to keep doing!

I'm not sure what you all saw in that Jonas Brothers one, but the last two have been a return to form for sure.

On this note, Jonas Brothers tickets for the Lexington show go on sale Saturday and since the show is about a week from my daughter's birthday, I have been given the directive by my wife to secure prime tickets. She watched the SP JB episode with me, yet was still not swayed when I told her I didn't think Caitlin should go to the show because I was concerned she'd turn into a slut. DAMN! :mad:

Don't have kids, so the Jonas Bros episode didn't really do it for me.

Didn't see Watchmen or Dark Knight, so the Coon episode didn't either.

The economy episode was pretty funny, I guess.

Randy centered episodes cannot be bad.

That was one of those "What the fuck?!" episodes.

That was also a parody of the Cartman's dad episode where it was never intended to be known, and they did the April Fools joke and aired a Terrance & Phillip episode instead.

I liked the queef episode better than that one. Butters reaction to being queefed upon (huff-puff!) was pretty damn funny.

Episodes that spoof rappers or bad movies tend to miss the mark with me, as I try my best to avoid both. :)

Trey Parker is underrated as a musical genius.

Evidently Kanye got a wake up call from this episode.. That in itself is absolutely mind boggling.

Musical geniuses, amazing writers, and therapists.

And I would actually gain a TON of respect for Kanye if he does pull off this change he has talked about since seeing the episode.

Got home this afternoon and am trying to catch up on the DVR. Had the Queef and Fishsticks episode in the backlog. Neither end-to-end package was my favorite, but I loved the nod to the "Cartman's Dad Part 2" with T&P. Thought the joke at the heart of "fishsticks" was pretty weak but enjoyed seeing them kill Mencia.

This post brought me to his blog. Where he posted that he was at the Cheesecake Factory and the manager brought him a platter of fish sticks.

Looks like this week's episode is going to be another Randy-centric one.

Randy centric episodes = gold. It's a rule.

I saw the blog post that addressed it, im sure you can find it there. It was pretty crazy coming from Kanye, really sounded like something clicked.

I thought last night was a solid episode. Definitely absurd, but how else are you gonna handle a pinewood derby car that goes warp speed? :D

That one was OK. I liked the nod to Columbo (as well as every other police/detective cliche there is).

That episode proved my theory that Randy centered episodes cannot suck. If that was not based around him, it's probably disappointing, but the fact of the matter is Randy is the best character on SP outside of your namesake and he proves it every episode.

My favorite Randy thing now is when he goes "Sharon .. hey Sharon". That is awesome.

Oh son of a diddly, I forgot. Good thing they replay it Thursday nights.

What an awesome episode! A really great way to finish off the first half of the season. I really hope they release the pirate song on MP3!

My episode review: Meh.

Loved the concept, but the execution/episode itself only made me laugh once or twice.

The stuff where they ridiculed Ghost Hunters was pretty funny. The Michael Jackson plot was rather limp.

As usual with South Park, I think the episodes are a lot more engaging and funny if you actually know (and to some extent care) about what they're spoofing.

Halfway into the premier, it's not even remotely grabbing my attention, I just can't pretend to care. Never watched Ghost Hunters, though, and I must admit, I don't think the loss of Billy Mays or Michael Jackson is exactly what I'd call "a great loss" for the world.

I just rewatched that episode and have to say it is in my top 5 - 7 episodes of SP ever. Just amazing.

Butter's transformation was awesome

Not as good as the detective transforming into Yolanda. He has quickly become one of my favorite characters in SP history. He probably falls just behind Cartman, Randy and Garrison.

Hand me the evidence bag.

the cop stuff really didn't do anything for me past "lol he didn't arrest him til after the sex act" the first time, but the Butters stuff was just GOLD.

Butters is my favorite character on the show though, so anything butters centric is awesome.

Yeah, that was a great episode, one of the best of the last 3 seasons. Butters has really grown on me.
