XCrawl: Team 2 - Deutschbäg ONLY
Team 2 - Deutschbäg ONLY This thread is for discussion by Team 2 - Deutschbäg If you are not Abe Sargent, CrimsonFox, or ntndeacon get out! Thanks! |
That's right, you other bitches better stay out.
figured we needed to actually formalize the name with our estemed DJ.
Play it safe or fast with the vipers? I'm thinking fast.
fast seems to be the better plan this time.
fast indeed. I can shoot them from here. DO we need to rescue ALL of them? I'm thinking we only need one.
hey I wonder if we can take one of the viper's fangs to envenomate weapons after it is dead.
Abe and CrimsonFox back the viper against the rocks below the maiden as Ntndeacon heads for the lock holding her. The maiden screams "Help me!" distracting the viper and CrimsonFox attacks first. Thwack! A hit to start the crawl!
The viper bleeds from a arrow wound in its side and flails about, but it's not dead yet! It swipes it tail in defense, slamming against Abe's legs, knocking him prone but doing no damage. The viper then attacks with his poisonous fangs, going after Abe. A miss. Abe struggles back up to his feet as the viper takes another tail swipe at him, but this one misses. CF attacks again with his bow. Thwack again. The viper is hurt badly. Abe finally gets an attack in with his staff and hits but does little damage. The viper swipes again at Abe and again knocks him to the grass but doing no damage. CF needs to put the viper away. Can he hit? No. It sails wide. A fang attack from the viper misses, Abe gets up and readies an attack. CF gets another shot off, this time hitting the viper in its face. It staggers for a moment before slamming into the ground. It is dead. You have defeated the viper! Meanwhile, ntndeacon has freed the lock and the maiden steps free. The maiden plants a wet kiss on ntn's lips and says "Thank you" in a way only a maiden can before the referee grabs you and points you toward a door in the side of the coliseum. You rush through it and into the next room. It took your team 4 turns to make it through this challenge. Well done. |

Pros from Dover
what y'all think on buying stuff. there are a couple things I think might be useful at this stage. rope would be one. the other I looked at was the +1 to lock picks. anyone else has an idea. with Abe's Heal I am thinking the healing potions are not going to be as needed for us.
Hey! Stop Bogarting the chick! *rushes over and plants a sloppy one on the maiden*
Since we've got the cash and can buy something NOW, I think getting both the lockpicks for ntn and the bow of accuracy for me is a good idea. Abe can keep his and we can give him extra to buy the next big thing we come across. He can get the rope and flask for now too. I'm always in favor of getting normal objects when given the opportunity...as they are usually needed. (unless of course the DM KNOWS that I know...D'oh!)
Quote:
Quoted for refrence |
CF that sounds like a plan to me. Abe, what you think?
Okay we buy the following:
Lockpicks +1 : to ntn Bow of accuracy (to me) Rope and flask: to Abe (unless abe has something drastic to say, then we'll just make fun of him mocking him in a girly highpitched voice and buy that stuff anyway... |
(thick Jerman axcent) I am so evil I mock my own guys

If you want to make the purchase official, please send me a PM. I am assuming that stuff in this thread is just team strategy stuff and unofficial.
ok I sent the pm as was stated changing only the to me to to CF (since it was no longer me getting the bow
lol) |
Room 3
Note that this is in the TEAM THREAD. People's rooms may or may not be different from here on out. You are free to discuss in the main thread if you so choose. You quickly make your purchases from the old man and continue through a door clearly marked for your team. At least you won't get lost. Not yet, anyway. Upon entering the next room, you are blinded. You see nothing but white. Fearing the worst, you reach for your weapons, but your vision clears in a moment and you realize it's just the lights from the TV camera crew standing in front of you. TV monitors line the walls and you see the audience assembled in the coliseum. You realize that they are still there watching you on closed circuit TV. Cheers and boos rain down on you from the monitors. You're separated from the other teams now and wonder if they are in a similar room. In the middle of the room are 5 numbered chests. The numerals go from 1 to 5. You take stock and notice that chests number 1 and 5 appear to be locked. The others are not. The audience members are yelling from the stands, trying to get you to pick certain chests, but you can't glean any useful information from that as they seem to contradict each other. However, you do notice a member of the camera crew (unfortunately, it is not Scud Farkus) trying to catch your eye. He points at chest number 3 and quickly shakes his head as if to say "don't." Decision Time: I need you to tell me which chests (if any) you want to open and which character opens which ones. You can take enough time to open them all if you like or you can ignore the chests and rush through the room. In addition, I need to know if you want to open the chests quickly or take the time to check for traps. Any character can try to check for traps, but your Specialist will obviously be better at it. You realize that any of the chests could be trapped, even the ones that are unlocked. So send me something that lists each chest and if you want to open it or ignore it. If you want to open it, tell me who opens it and whether they want to check for traps or do it quickly. Each team should PM me their order by 9pm tonight. |
I was asked a question that I thought I would clarify for everyone.
The question was basically if the time element still mattered in this room. Yes. There is a time element to every action you take. You are currently in a race to the end of the dungeon, so the clock is always ticking. Just because I posted a time at the end of that first room doesn't mean that the race is paused. Your other competitors are still going through their sections as fast as they can, so I'll be calculating the standings all the time. Even casting spells takes time. For instance, in this room, you decide who opens what chest which impacts how long it takes to progress. A single people can open multiple chests, but the clock is ticking. If you take the time to have one person open all 5 chests, that will take a lot longer than all three of you getting involved. Or you could just choose to each open one chest and then move to the next room. Your choice. |
I think checking for traps is worthwhile and this might get us behind some but the loot would be worth it. we can be quick in the next room.
Bah chests! This is the only chest that matters! *opens his jacket revealing a mass of black hair*
Really I think this room is meant to damage us before the fight coming up. I'd be happy to kick open a chest but I'll probably take damage. I'm not opening chest 3. We're famous. People like fame. Why would anyone lie to US!?
ok how bout if I open the locked trucks and check for traps on them just open those chests and move on then. sound like a compromise?
Chest 1 ntndeacon check for traps and opens
Chest 2 Chest 3 Chest 4 Chest 5 ntndeacon check for traps and opens I'd like to open a cehst myself, randomly. How about 2. Ntndeacon is spending four or five rounds futzing around, and I'd rather check for traps and open as well. How abou tI echk and open 2, and CF checks and opens 4 |
ok sounds good to me. Abe you wanna send it to Kwhit.
Snet
*farts on the chest as he looks at it, then kicks it open*
ntndeacon works on the first chest. It is not trapped. After unlocking it, he finds 200gp! Nice.
Abe tries his hand at chest 2. It's a good thing he checked for traps. He disarms an acid trap in short order and inside finds 1 healing potion. You may also take the vial of acid from the trap. You skip chest 3 and CF moves on to chest 4. Not trapped or locked. Inside is 50gp. Easiest gold you ever made. ntn moves onto chest 5. He checks for traps (there were none) and then unlocks it. But once you do you find: It's infested with rats! They bite and claw you, doing some damage, but you easily dispatch them. Inside, you see what the rats were after. A block of cheese. Cheese!? All that for some cheese? But then you notice what the cheese is wrapped in. A scroll! The mage quickly takes a look at it and determines that it is a Scroll of Constitution. Reading it will give 1 character a CON bonus (let me know who uses it - right now the scroll is in possession of the character who opened this chest - ntn). You press onward into the next room after 7 turns. |
Room 4:
This room is small and dimly lit. In the middle of the room are two small marble fountains, bubbling liquid. One fountain is carved with arcane runes and symbols that you cannot make out. A green liquid bubbles from it. The other fountain is carved with the symbols for the Sun and Moon. A pale red liquid flows within it. No exits are visible. What do you do? Let me know my noon tomorrow. |
Ding!
ntndeacon has reached level 3. |
Might I recommend giving the scroll of COn to the guy with the lowest HP, namely me?

*gets out the bug spray and sprays it at poli*
*throws his 50 gp to Abe, who hopefully catches all of it*
"don't spend it all in one place....wait a minute. Reverse that. Buy a kickass staff or wand with that. ntn I want to make sure ALL of that is there! :)" |
So are you giving your 50gp to Abe?
Please clarify. In the future please send this to me in a PM so I know it's official. |

Lol |
Okay, plans for the room:
How about we dip the tip of something destroyable into each fountain, to see if the liquids are acid? ntndeacon searches pedastals for traps, meanwhile I dip something into green liquid, and CF dips somethinginto red. If either liquid appears volatile, see if sun or moon are pushable buttons and push them. If either liquid appears special, take in my empty flask. Otherwise, check liquids that appear normal with one small finger, and if safe, we need to read runes, and if still nothing, i guess we eventually have to decide if we are going to drink liquids. |
also check to see if the contents of Abes flask of acid matches either liqiud
Quote:
I never received an official order from you guys. Is this it? |
I'm going to assume this is the official action.
yes that is the official action
After standing around for a while, not knowing what to do, you dip the tip of something into each fountain.
Smoke starts to billow from both of them. From the fountain with arcane symbols, an Imp appears. A Priest appears from the fountain with the Sun and Moon. When they see each other, they ignore you and begin to do battle. "Help me!" says the Imp! Which you do, being evil and all. The battle is a short one. The priest and imp were pretty evenly matched, so your assistance put a swift end to the Priest. It disappears in a cloud of smoke. In his wake appear 150gp. The imp thanks you and instructs you to drink from the green liquid. You do and are immediately healed. He wishes you luck on your journey and hands Abe a Medallion of Evil. You're not sure what it does, but the Imp assures you that it will help you. Let me know if you want to wear it (and who is wearing it). The imp then ushers you through a secret door and into the next room. |
The next room is posted in the main thread.
I put on the Medallion and it says that it will make me more powerful in combat vs good, so I am taking it off and passing it to CrimsonFox to wear.
I say if we are first or we cant see results then we hit the heroes who are in 1st. if we see good things happen then we do ourselves
I figure we need XP and should just do ourselves. Big Wang took care of three buttons, and their fame has got to be sky high, I don;t want to help them further.
On the other hand, they are reeling, but if they survive a fourth button, the sky's the limit, and remember they we can res from death afew times.
Even if we hurt ONE group, we are still fighting two others. I'd rather try to help us than hiurt another. But if you want the weakened group, that's ok toom I totlaly get it. |
ugh sorry i got caught up in the moment.
but i agree i didn't want to push the same button again but hopefully hurt the others.
I was hoping something like that would happen :)
They'll waste time and resources. But granted us getting more XP would have been good too. Albeit my bow would have sucked against skellies. |

Room 6: The Hallway
A door opens to the right of the 4 buttons. A referee ushers you through. As he does, you hear him mutter under his breath, "You guys suck." "Hurry up!" he says. You ignore him and press on. You rush through and into a hallway. You follow the arrows. Travelling along the hall, you see three doors, all on your right. A sign on Door 1 reads: Lots of experience in here. A sign on Door 2 reads: Need some supplies? And the sign on Door 3 is a large Question Mark. And the hallway continues further on ahead, the arrows still pointing forward along the floor. Do you open a door and enter one of the rooms? If so, tell me which one. Or do you continue down the hall? |
I think we need Xp. We're full of HP, got spells, got pots, got the need to get some XP though.
I bow to your wisdom :D
(XP hoooooooooooooo!) |
xp is importantand we will probably be up against tougher monsters we need y'all to finally get to level 3.
The referee was right. :)
XP in this room:
Bestiarri enters this room first, followed closely by Team Deutschbäg. You guys are immediately bombarded by a horde of ugly Orcs. They're mean, they smell bad, and they attack. You can't even tell how many of them there are. Luckily, they're pretty weak. But they seem to just keep on coming! Processing the combat now... |
You put up an epic fight, but there were just too many. As in, you believe the DJ had as many Orc minions at his disposal to keep sending at you and you were worn down.
Abe killed 6 before he was knocked unconscious. CF killed 9 before he went down. NTN was like a man possesed. He killed 10. But then he went down too. Good news: You get a lot of XP. Bad news: You used a lot of healing potions. And it was a total party kill. The DJ called off the orcs before they could outright KILL you, but you're unconscious and will need time to recover. |
Abe - you are now level 3.
CF - you are now level 3. ntndeacon - you are now level 4! |

we prob need you to cast the heal spell on one of us, Abe. In terms of the next choice either down the hall or ? room
Okay, I think we should hit up the supplies room now. I healed ntndeacon and quaffed my own healing pot. CF shoots arrows from afar, so that should help those of us who are often engaged in close up fighting.
You can always jam my healing potion down my throat too.
Abe we need to get you a kickass magic item yet and we have TONS of cash!
And if we have any left over a magic weapon for ntn SO how did that last combat work. Did those other teams fight just because they both picked supplies? Or did they just choose to attack the other team. Didn't even know that was an option. |
I do think we should heal up before going on. Wait, did leveling autoheal us?
I thought that they may have gone to the ? room.
I think it was said that they both entered the supply room.
Abe, since you leveled:
You may choose one additional spell from the following list: Heal, Magic Missile, Detect Magic, Light, Read Magic, Mage Armor, Fear, Sleep Note: You may choose a spell you already possess which will allow you to cast it 2x per room/combat instead of once. |
Gimme Magic Missile
Done.
Guten Abend mein duetschbag comraden. Ich bin zinking zat maybe vee should bypass the supply room and sprint down the hall for zee exit or else open the ? door. If vee meet another team in zee supply room while we are zis hurt, vee vill get rocked. If we go to ze ? room at least vee have another heal round.
But we get to buy no potions. Vat you zink? |
I think we need items, but if we want to skip the rooms entirely, and just move on, that's okay. My preference is to try and get stuff, especially since we have no more healing pots. I would skip teh ? room - it's either stuff or leave I think
well the good thing is that I think I am the only level 4 character at the moment. so that would be an advantage in the supply room. However Ithink Sprinting downthe hall could get us ahead.
Supplies:
The old man is here with his goods. You may buy the following: Longsword +1 100gp Staff of lightning 200gp Healing potions 25gp Necklace of Health 150gp Scroll of Experience 400gp Bow of accuracy 50gp 50' Rope 10gp Lockpicks +1 50gp Potion of Speed: 300gp Let me know what you want to purchase by the next deadline. |
Rock
we have 435 coins. my suggestion is the staff of lightning for 200 and 2 potions each. this would be at a total cost of 350 leaving us with 85 to save towards the next time we can get an item.
I would also suspect that we should gt down the hall quickly at the next oppurtunity.
I lik eit
ok I am concerned too as the other groups can push a button and we cant. we may be WAY behind after this
ok now we got our supplies if we get the chance we needto book down the hall.
You buy your supplies and then decide you need to make up time and head down the hall.
Room 7: You press on through the hallway until you reach a large wooden door. Opening it reveals a cavernous tunnel of rock. You venture in, but after a few steps and some twists and turns, it becomes very difficult to see. You press on, but it is slow going. After a couple of minutes of walking, you see a faint light ahead. You rush on and come to a large open cave. The light is coming from a group of torches hanging from the ceiling in the middle of the room. The torches light the middle of the cavern, but not the sides. You can't tell if there is an exit, and if so, which direction it is in. A pond sits in the middle of the cavern. It looks fairly deep. You can make the following choices. Search left. Search right. Search straight ahead. Enter pond. Also, let me know if you are doing this together as a group or splitting up. In other words, you could send one player into the pond while someone else searches left, etc. Please give me fairly detailed instructions as to what you want to do and in what order, so if you search left and don't find anything, I know that you want to search right next (for example). Try to get the action to me by 9pm tonight. I'd like to run this at that time. If you can't get it by then, please let me know. |
Team 2:
Deutschbäg* Abe Sargent: Mage Level: 3 Max HP: 15 Current HP: 15 Bonus: Fame, CON, Spells: Heal, Mage Armor, Magic Missile Equipment: Staff of Lightning! 2 Healing Potions Flask of Acid 28 GP Rope Staff CrimsonFox: Adventurer Level: 3 Max HP: 30 Current HP: 1 Bonus: Fame, +1 vs GOOD Equipment: 2 Healing Potions 28 GP Longbow of Accuracy ntndeacon: Specialist Level: 4 Max HP: 24 Current HP: 24 Bonus: Fame Equipment: 2 Healing Potions 29 GP Lockpicks +1 Rapier |
Early plan, thoughts?
I enter the pond after poking it with my staff and search. ntndeacon searches left, and then right if found nothing left. CF readies the bow of accuracy and steps forward a bit to support either one of us if we need it, I serach straight ahead if I find nothing of intertest in th pond. |
THis room seems to have the following outputs in store at any of the serach points:
1. You find nothing. (thus wasting time) 2. You find a monster. (thus wasting time and hp and potions but getting some xp) 3. You find nothing, but are jumped by a monster from behind from another part of the room (see #2 with surprise factor) 4. You find an instant treasure 5. You drown or have to defeat some other water obstacle. 6. YOu find a secret door to another part. 7. We find Simultaneous monsters in multiple places and get our butts kicked. 6 is doubtful. 4 we will have to look at all the parts to ensure we find it which will definitely mean we will encounter 1-3. Or we will just get 1-3 anyway. At this point being in last place for 2 turns in a row, I think we really need to catch up. ALso I think attacking another team might be in our near future (whether by force or by choice) Thoughts about skipping this room then? |
I think this is the way further on. we just have to look for the opening to next room. I can see us being able to precede only when we defeat a monster.
Oh, whoops! you're absolutely right. There isn't a definite exit from here.
Ignore my previous post then. Not really feeling well today so I'm kinda groggy. |
Abe, since you're really brittle I volunteer to charge into the pond or forward and let you stand by with your staff and magic missiles. IF you get hit once by sea creatures you could go down.
wtf I still have one HP. Maybe I should quaff a potin and abe should heal me before we do anything :P
need to submit something soon, I am going to submoit our plan, edit as you wish, and heal CF if I can as well.
Abe heals CF with a spell first.
CF takes a look at the pond and sees nothing unusual, then enters it. It takes a bit, but finally he finds a locked chest! He calls to ntndeacon to come open it! ntndeacon meanwhile is searching left, but he triggers a TRAP! Spikes shoot down from the ceiling. He can't get out of the way and takes a slight scrape. Nothing too bad. He finds nothing else of note that way, so he hops into the pool and opens the chest. Viola! You've got a magical item. This looks to be a golden ring with a red ruby at its center. You can tell it's magic, but that's all you know about it so far. Abe searches Forward, finding nothing, then: You all search Right and you find a door! You open it and proceed. |
Room 8: This room is another arena-type room, but much smaller then the one in which the Crawl began. Fans in bleachers line the walls, screaming for and against you. In the center of the room is an elf and a halfling. The elf smiles at you, and bows gently. "My name is Walter. This is my associate Platty. We've been hired to keep you from going through that door." Walter points to the only other exit from the room. Somehow you have to get through them to move on. Walter carries a staff. Platty carries a long, jagged, glowing dagger. "I am a sporting type (my associate isn't), so I will give you a moment to refresh yourselves before we begin." You may cast spells, drink potions, or take some other preparatory action before battle. Let me know what (if anything) you want to do by Noon tomorrow, then the fun begins. |

ok we need to get past these guys quick like. A minute behind! horrible. I assume the staff guy is a wizard and the daggar is magic.
I say no prep, just attack all out.
Can I put on the ring as we're in transit? or ntn. My best guess would be a protection ring either +1 or protection against something.
I want to drink my potion while he's busy yapping his gums :)
