Macro was banned for three months.

MJ4H is still banned.

So is Karl.

The local safeway only has one size of Johnnie Walker and it's way too goddamn expensive.

I was just saying to Lathum at lunch earlier that if I got banned for a month I don't know if I'd come back...my internet surfing habits would have changed so much in those 30 days.

All these banninations are pretty harsh - especially when they come down on longtime board members.

I don't remember for sure. I think the Red is $25 while the Black is $30-35. I've never even tried scotch so I don't want to buy this big damn bottle only to not like it.

Anytime you buy scotch the price is a very good indicator of taste. A cheap scotch is going to taste like burnt shit and make you puke all over the house (Cutty Sark comes to mind here)

The Johnny's are a great selection so long as you're not drinking it straight.

Chivas Regal is an excellent cheap scotch.

If you want truly sippable scotch you need to realize its going to cost you a C-note or more per bottle.

A Blended Scotch is quite literally several different barrels and quality levels of Scotch, blended together to make something drinkable.

Non-Blended or "Single Malt" scotch is a singular creation, never mixed with any other Scotch, it is a purer flavor and is preferred by most Scotch snobs as a much better drink.

Disagree. You can sip a nice single-malt in the $40-$50 a bottle range. $50-60 for sure.

Chivas is a sippable Blended , it runs 50-60 a bottle. Singles that are really sippable start near the 80-90 range and climb precipitously.

And besides, Glenfiddich is 18 year single malt and runs closer to 70-80. You're thinking of Glenlivet which is a 12 yr single malt and can be had from 20-50 a bottle.

I swear I saw a Glenfiddich that was around $50/bottle in one of my local liquor stores the other day. I'll go back and take a picture so you know I'm not crazy. And I know the difference between Glenfiddich and Glenlivet. Glenlivet is meh.

I've had Glenmorangie - I don't recall how aged it was, but I thought it was pretty good. Never had Laphroaig.

I'd be all for some from Fettercairn (the distillerary closest to my ancestral lands), but they haven't done a single-malt since like the 1920's - they sell it all to blenders now.

I'm working my way through a bottle of Caol Ila right now, and it's good but I was expecting better. It's definitely my least favorite of the Islay malts so far. Laphroaig is definitely the old standby, tough to beat the quality at that price.

Ah, no I feel there are some bannings that are fair, but many of them are a joke, because today they are fine, and tomorrow they aren't. How many mods look at all this shit on here everyday not worrying about it and then finally one mod sees it and BAN! And then the users get butthurt about it. It appears there is a pretty vocal group that doesn't agree with the boxings, which means maybe these "unwritten rules" should be looked at again.

the last game he created had no visible changes in it from the previous game. all the changes that were done were vaguely "under the hood", to coin his phrase. i got sold the same game twice essentially, but yet we speak of his name in whispers so as not to anger him, like some ancient Hawaiians trying to appease the volcano gods. so stop me if i feel he owes it to me/the community for something more. time to move on, Chip, its ok to critique him.

I don't know about everybody else here, but I don't think of these forums as having anything to do with FOF. I have continued to come for the past 10 years because I enjoy the conversation, plus I've made some half-way decent friendships along the way. The only time I play FOF is for FOFL related stuff. As far as Jim and his life are concerned, I could care less. Why? Because he's not really a part of this community, no different than any other lurker who only posts once every couple months. I don't place him, nor anyone else here up on a pedestal.
