The League on FX
Anybody watch it?
I recently got into it. This week's episode reminded me of some of the antics here at FOFC. :D /tk |
Will you marry me?

Gay.
|
Not that there's anything wrong with that
|

came for the greyroofoo stayed for the gay bashing
|
once you go roofoo you never go back
|
Just caught up with the start of season 3. Can't believe some of the stuff that they get away with on this show. Was interesting that Seth Rogen showed up as a porno director.
|
I saw a couple episodes and it was really good. Hoping they add Season 2 to Netflix soon.
|
I loved the first two seasons. I caught the second season on Hulu. No idea if the third will be on there.
|
All three episodes this season have surprised me. They've all been rather full of what I call "boy" humor, which normally I can't stand, but man have I enjoyed them.
/tk |
Season 3 is now on Netflix, and Season 4 starts on Thursday(I Think)
|
Cool, one more thing to do while I'm not playing Xcom.
|
Taco Corp is ready for Season 4! PASSWORD IS TACO!
|
cant wait!
|
the episode where taco dresses up as mr mcgibblets and fake robs the house, slays me every time.

I'm been watching Jon Lajoie on YouTube lately to cure my The League withdrawal. (Being Jon Lajoie videos they are probably NSFW) |
Quote:
That's one of my favorites, too. I didn't like all of them last season but the end was a gem, too. /tk |
My brother love The League and has been trying to get me to watch (I'm not a big TV watcher). I never knew Jon Lajoie was on it. That dude's funny. My GF and I are always cracking up about one of his rather more explicit songs about a certain part of a man's anatomy.
One more reason for me to watch, I guess. :) |
I love how everyone hates the kid and even the parents recognize that she sucks.
|
Quote:
He gets to do songs on The League too. |
While I have thought this season isn't particularly strong, this episode with JB Smoove and the racist piano was excellent.
|
Murder Boners, that's all..
|
Quote:
Agreed. /tk |

This season seems to have lost it's way just a bit. Where's the football? It's gone. Who is in first? Where's the competition? What controversies are there? Season 3 to me was easily the best. So far only so-so. |
I'm not sure if it's a shooting schedule thing...maybe they shoot the football oriented ones closer to air date.
|
I actually thought this week's episode was pretty good, aside from the Lucha stuff at the end. I also didn't realize that the guy playing the doctor was the same guy who plays Kripke on Big Bang Theory...I don't think I've paid attention to him anywhere else. Weird to see him without a speech impediment.
/tk |
There were two episodes this week.
|
Quote:
Thanks, hadn't caught that, I'd only downloaded the friend off/Dr. Taco episode. I thought it was much better than most episodes this year. |
Quote:
Ah yeah, I forgot, I watched one yesterday and one this morning. It was the colonoscopy episode in particular I was referring to, but both were pretty good. /tk |
This year was just kind of there. I'm not sure many episodes were that good. I hated that they really moved away from integrating football.
|
I just bought the first season as a neighbor told me about the series.. I'm really late to this one. :)
First episode was great, laughed until I cried. |
Keep watching, there are some classics

Just finished season 3 on Netflix a few days ago. It might be the best season so far. If not a big step from 2. It just keeps popping one liners after one liners. It might be my favorite comedy on TV right now.
|
Shouldn't this title be edited?
|
Last night's episode might symbolize the end of this show. That was just dumb.
|
Quote:
Yes it was, but hasn't the show been pretty dumb since the last season? |
No, I mean it gets outrageous and stuff, but it was still grounded in some guys in the suburbs of Chicago going through life and a fantasy league. And the ludicrous characters like Dirty Randy and Rafi are usually given in small dosages.
This didn't even feel like an episode of The League so I'm not going to be too critical of it. Hoping it was just a blow off episode they decided to hand to those guys to do what they want and then things get back to normal next week. |
Quote:
Agreed. |
Pocket Dogs, y'all
|
Last night's episode was a return to the fine form I expected. Great blend of awkward and funny.
Sitting Shiva... /tk |
I'm still watching via Netflix, but taping the new ones.
|
The last season just hit Netflix so I started to go through that. I still enjoy it.
|
Supposedly there's another Ravi and Dirty Randy episode this season for people to go crazy about. I love both of them.
|
I thought season 4 and some of 5 edged on the "more awkward uncomfortable than funny uncomfortable" side, so glad to see the first episode of season 6 was more balanced. ;)
/tk |
I agree with tk. I liked the first episode of this season better than the last two seasons.
|
I liked the first episode too.
|
Just started watching this a few days ago am into season 2 now. Wish I had started watching this sooner, this show is fucking great.
|
A Rafi and Dirty Randy episode is the best birthday present I could ask for.
|
Quote:
Whereas I consider any week with them as the subjects a bye week. |
I hated their episode last season but this one wasn't bad. Still, I'd rather it just involve the regular cast. Rafi and Dirty Randy for a whole episode is too much.
|
I think if Seth Rogan wants a half hour episode, you accommodate him. And I like Mantzoukas a ton. Some good cameos as well.
Should be interesting to see if they incorporate any of the Adrian Petersen or Ray Rice stuff in this season. |
Given the Jordan Cameron vs Cameron Jordan episode, I'm hoping for Brandon Marshall on Brandon Marshall confusion later this season. Or maybe that'll be next season's draft fun.
|
All i could think watching this episode is how fat David Krumholtz got.
|
Quote:
Small does go a long way. |
Quote:
Oh yeah, I kept wondering if that was him. |
He did an interview a little while back where he talked about how he was always a fat guy but they made him get skinny for Numb3rs.
|
One final 13 episode season announced for next year. I'm pretty depressed cause this may be my favorite sitcom of all time. I get that most of the cast wants to do other things, but I feel like it could run forever.
|
It does seem like a show where they could have swapped in and out cast members from year to year to keep it going. I mean fantasy football leagues change.
Happy we got 7 seasons though. Looks like Duplass has an HBO show coming out soon. |
Yeah, I would have thought they could have brought in 2 newbs, made it a 10 teamer and then just let Kroll and Duplass leave after the season. I guess it gets more complex than that though, as Jenny and Duplass are married. Still seems like something could have been worked out.

Makes me sad.. :( |
Boo. :(
Side note, I'd never heard of "Elf on the Shelf" until this show. And now I see it everywhere. And it creeps me out. /tk |
Quote:
They had "Mensch on a Bench" on Shark Tank last night. This will never end apparently. |
I really wanna see this season but FXX is on a package that costs 25$/month more than mine.
Also someone is making a Krampus movie |
How was Raffi in the first episode this season? Isn't he supposed to be dead by now back in the real timeline?
/tk |
He never died
|
Everytime Rogen makes an appearance on the show i cringe. That whole episode with Rafi and randy's stupid la adventure episode was quite possibly one of the worst episodes ever of a good sitcom.
|
I'm not the biggest fan of Dirty Randy but Rafi is always a treat.
|
Ugh.. just completely skipped the season 6 rafi/dirty randy episode.. i really hope they don't decide to waste a whole episode of the final season on those 2...
|
I love Rafi..
First episode was decent... |
I thought the LA adventure one was pretty horrible. The "How Rafi Met Randy" one was pretty funny. Glad I didn't skip it like I was going to. (And maybe part of my enjoyment was because I had rock bottom expectations).
|
Rafi i really don't mind... shoe horning seth rogen's terrible character in.. makes it terrible
|
The one last year was great, even if you hate Rafi and dirty Randy

'League' Star Steve Rannazzisi -- I Lied About Escaping Twin Towers During 9/11 | TMZ.com
So has the season already been filmed cause this guy is probably going to have a lot of sponsors dropping him since he's gone around talking about this for years. Not sure people wanna back a guy who lied about being in the towers on 9/11. |
I'm always amazed when this stuff happens, but when you see it coming from random dudes like this guy to otherwise respected journalists, it makes you wonder just how many of these BS stories don't get caught.
|
In 2009, comedian Steve Rannazzisi told an interviewer that he was in the south of the World Trade Center tower on Sept. 11.
"As a young man, I made a mistake that I deeply regret and for which apologies may still not be enough" wtf. he's 37 now, and was 31 when he made those claims. you can't really play the i-was-just-a-dumb-kid card in that situation. |
Quote:
He was 23 or 24 when he first started telling people. The interview was doubling down on it. |
Quote:
Yeah, I can't stand Rafi and Dirty Randy (though Rafi is okay in very small doses), but the origin episode was great. |
Quote:
He's not sorry about the lie, he's sorry about being caught. He did an interview 6 months ago where he gave the same story before the NYTimes piece. |
This is totally something Brian McAsterisk would do
|
I think this last season was arguably the best of the series. Meegan FTW.
