I still need 1 more owner to send me their info for the invite

samifan24 03-30-2011 11:51 AM

Wow this league has 8 DL spots; why so many?

JediKooter 03-30-2011 11:53 AM

I thought this was going to be about cooking.

We voted to have unlimited rsoter spots for players put on the DL and 8 was ESPNs max. Teams should not be penalized by having to cut an injured player. If a team goes over 8, then I'll have to commissioner-enforce the rule.

Also, no team can add a player on the DL to their team via waivers

PackerFanatic 03-30-2011 02:56 PM

So was a normal snake draft the consensus then (as opposed to auction)?

yessir - it was 6-5 for the draft, and one of the auction voters pulled out.

Mmmmmmm...Boston Market

CrimsonFox 03-30-2011 04:23 PM

I want chicken now.

JediKooter 03-30-2011 04:33 PM

See? Now you guys know how I feel.

Glengoyne 04-01-2011 02:21 PM

I haven't seen an invite for the league. Also...I'm going to have to scramble a bit to make an 11:30 AM draft. I should be able to pull it off though.

Toddzilla 04-01-2011 02:33 PM

Glen - I've sent it 4 or 5 times - make sure they aren't ending up in your spam folder. Otherwise I'll need a different email address to use.

Also, Chief Rum has yet to accept the invite.

Right now, ESPN is telling me the draft is not scheduled - please accept invitations as soon as you can!

Glengoyne 04-01-2011 03:00 PM

All Right,

I'm in. Only had the one invite though.. In any case, I'm in.

Chief Rum 04-01-2011 05:09 PM

Whoops, forgot to get that set when I was home. I'll get in tonight.

Glengoyne 04-01-2011 06:00 PM

The Fukushima Isotopes are ready for the draft.

Schmidty 04-01-2011 06:41 PM

The draft time is going to be rough for me too. I get out of church at 11:15, so I'll have to haul it it home fast. Hopefully I won't miss my first or second pick.

Toddzilla 04-02-2011 12:01 AM

i can move the draft forward to 3 or 3:30 PM edt if that'll help - what say the east coasters?

PackerFanatic 04-02-2011 12:30 AM

Anytime Sunday afternoon is great for me (I am CST) so I am happy with bumping it out a bit if it helps others.

The bump of half an hour or hour would be a great help. If it doesn't hurt anyone's plans us west coasters with church would appreciate it.

Suicane75 04-02-2011 06:10 AM

Prefer 3 to 3:30 but i'm cool with either.

terpkristin 04-02-2011 10:10 AM

I'm good.

/tk

Chief Rum 04-02-2011 10:24 AM

I am finally in. All good on the draft.

stevew 04-02-2011 11:12 AM

3 would be awesome

Toddzilla 04-02-2011 03:53 PM

I bumped the draft 30 minutes to 3PM EDT to help the west coasters and the church goers.

stevew 04-02-2011 05:15 PM

Can we drop the pick time limit to 30 or 45 seconds?

Oilers9911 04-02-2011 07:38 PM

30 seconds is not enough time. I like it the way it is. Minimum i'd go for would be 60 seconds.

PackerFanatic 04-02-2011 07:40 PM

Even at 90 seconds, things will move fast.

Johnny93g 04-03-2011 01:09 AM

Looking forward to embarrassing myself tomorrow. I've never been in a keeper league, and am not as familiar with the NL as the AL. I hope i'm not drafting first, as i really have no idea how the 1st round will play out.

Danny 04-03-2011 01:21 AM

Just some advise, but with our system, I wouldn't worry too much about the keeper aspect, especially early in the draft

Oilers9911 04-03-2011 09:55 AM

Are we drafting our minor leaguers today or later in the season? I personally think a June draft just like MLB would be cool. It would give the season an added dimension of following prospects as the season goes on.

I'm just hoping that whenever the minor league draft is, we get to pick from a list. I have no idea who the prospects are. Last year I knew of two...and they are both in the major leagues today...so no help there.

stevew 04-03-2011 01:05 PM

I don't think a date has been decided yet, but it's today for sure - I would guess we will vote on that at some point.

PackerFanatic 04-03-2011 01:10 PM

I hate drafting 7th...arg

Toddzilla 04-03-2011 01:43 PM

I'm picking at the turn - sucks to have to wait 22 picks between selections, but I get to decide who's 1st round and 2nd round in order to have the best keeper.

Toddzilla 04-03-2011 01:44 PM

oh,

DRAFT STARTS IN 15 MINUTES

Toddzilla 04-03-2011 04:28 PM

Any player that was drafted that was not on a major league roster will be dropped and eligible to be replaced via waivers and FAAB. I'll try to cut them before the 11PM deadline tonight.

Glengoyne 04-03-2011 04:39 PM

Oh my...

I'm terrible. I mean really terrible.

terpkristin 04-03-2011 04:40 PM

:)

So....the week starts with Monday (i.e. assignments need to be locked before an hour before the first game Monday?)? Or...?

Danny 04-03-2011 05:09 PM

Good draft everyone! Steals went faster then I thought they would, and the 1B/3B sure dried up quick, but overall I am happy with my team.

I got caught sleeping on 1b/3b. When I saw it was thin...I didn't want to have to reach down to pick someone up. Then the next three or four options were gone before it came back to me.

Danny 04-03-2011 05:50 PM

Yeah, I ended up with Miguel Cairo as my 1B/3B which is the weakest spot in my lineup. At least I got Mora at 3B who will get at bats.

Danny 04-03-2011 05:51 PM

Last year I was in a 10 team NL only, and those two extra teams makes a huge difference.

Danny 04-03-2011 07:00 PM

You dropped Mike Minor from my roster. He was called up today about 3 hours before our draft and is on a ML roster.

Toddzilla 04-03-2011 07:01 PM

Two important notes:

First - Minor league players that were drafted have been released. You can fill those holes by picking up any eligible free agents - players on the major league roster of an NL team, not on the DL. Waivers run on Sundays and Thursdays at 11PM EDT.

Second - it looks like stats are indeed retroactive.

Ha! I didn't see that - I'll add him back

Danny 04-03-2011 07:04 PM

thanks

Toddzilla 04-03-2011 07:04 PM

fixed.

Toddzilla 04-03-2011 07:05 PM

and for any other owners than need roster voodoo, ESPN now gives the commissioner full roster control, so if I screwed something up, I can fix it pretty easily.

stevew 04-03-2011 07:15 PM

You dropped several guys off of my roster who had a bunch of MLB time. I'd probably drop them anyways, but none of the guys were really prospects. Eric Young had 200+MLB AB's for instance. JD Martin has thrown 125 big league innings.

stevew 04-03-2011 07:20 PM

Minor is also still in AAA until Wednesday

stevew 04-03-2011 09:40 PM

Okay. So all the corner players are drafted and I can't pick up any from FA. Do I just not get to play 3 or 4 guys all year? I'm pretty excited if that's the case. Maybe we drafted a few too many players if that is the case? I understand I can trade if I want to get 20 cents on the dollar.

Danny 04-03-2011 09:49 PM

There's a couple part time catchers, you could grab one and slide Posey over to 1B to fill one of the spots.

Danny 04-03-2011 09:55 PM

Also, go to free agents and click the AB column, you can get some guys who will get some at bats, though I don't think there are any regulars in free agency.

yeah, i saw that. but i'm still coming up several players short.

Suicane75 04-03-2011 10:47 PM

We should iron out minor league rules as quick as possible.

Suicane75 04-03-2011 11:07 PM

Just spitballin some ideas. I am drunk so grain of salt and all that.

1. 5 Man Minor League draft. Only players in the minors.

2. No addition or subtraction from minor league rosters after the minor league draft, only promotion.

3. Prior to the 2012 regular draft each team can announce promotion or release of any of their minor leaguers. Players promoted at this point or who were promoted after August 1st of the previous season are exempt from keeper rules for 1 season.

4. If a player is called up from the minor league roster before August 1st of the previous season and the owner wishes to use a keeper spot on him the draft pick lost will correlate to ESPN's player rater. Ie, if the player was rated 60th overall that becomes a 5th round pick lost.

5. If a player was traded from your team to the AL during the offseason or last season you can use one of your keeper spots and get a compensatory draft pick for him. Ie, you drafted Cliff Lee in round 2 and he gets traded to Kansas City, you can use one of your 6 keeper spots, keep nobody, but get a 1st round pick in the regular draft.

Danny 04-03-2011 11:17 PM

I don't like number 5.

Suicane75 04-03-2011 11:25 PM

Just seems to me there should be some sort of compensation for losing a stud. But again, i'm just throwing ideas out there.

He was doing it based on their current status, regardless of how much previous major league experience they have had - only players currently on major league rosters are eligible for our rosters. Both Young and Martin are currently in the minors (in AAA)

PackerFanatic 04-03-2011 11:29 PM

Are we allowing in-season promotion from the minor league roster (as long as we have an open spot on our roster, of course)?

PackerFanatic 04-03-2011 11:30 PM

And yeah, I don't really like #5 either - sure, it sucks to lose a stud like that, but I'd say tough luck. Not much you can do (at least you'd keep that pick and not have to keep him? heh)

Danny 04-03-2011 11:37 PM

You get to use him for the rest of the season, so it's not losing much. We only keep 6 players, so losing a player or two to trade is not a big deal in regards to keepers.

stevew 04-03-2011 11:52 PM

I don't like how they were able to be auto drafted by the AI then. I think it took Young in the 18th round maybe.

PackerFanatic 04-04-2011 12:49 AM

Just sucks that ESPN couldn't remove them from their system (or at least move them down) once they got designated for assignment.

Danny 04-04-2011 01:28 AM

Yeah, but any pre-draft ranking has issues. I think in a league that goes so deep, it's important to be there for every pick.

Suicane75 04-06-2011 11:58 AM

It's been too quiet. How do people feel about their teams? I know I wasn't quite prepared for the difference going from 10 to 12 teams would make but I'm excited for the challenge.

stevew 04-06-2011 12:34 PM

I'm unhappy with the lack of corner players available.

Suicane75 04-06-2011 01:55 PM

What team are you steve?

stevew 04-06-2011 02:02 PM

Dick Pole's Vaulters.

Suicane75 04-06-2011 02:04 PM

Well Miranda will be 1b eligible soon and then barmes comes back and you've got a solid starting lineup. Everyone is living with having to do some maneuvering the first couple of weeks.

Does he need to get a minimum of starts or something?

Suicane75 04-06-2011 02:12 PM

I'm not finding anything in our league section but i'm positive he'll be 1b eligible at some point soon. Probably 10 starts or 15 appearances, something like that.

Suicane75 04-06-2011 02:14 PM

Ahh, here we go.

Positional Eligibility for Batters
Additional positional eligibility for Batters occurs when one of the following conditions is met:
  • Games played at a position during last season: 20
  • Games played at a position during current season: 10 (The eligibility will take place on the 11th day, even if no game is played that day)
