He should really hang it up. His fall from nearly elite to what he's become has been quite incredible.

Funny. Marshall can catch cabs in Florida but not passes.

I'm really hoping the Dolphins move him out during the off-season.

I wonder if he didnt get cut so he could sign with a playoff contender otherwise I cant just see the Vikings releasing him. It wasnt as if he was causing trouble and from the sounds of it was quite helpful to Ponder.

Pumpy Tudors 12-01-2011 03:42 PM

I think the Broncos should sign Donovan McNabb and convert him to fullback.

chadritt 12-01-2011 03:49 PM

Is Mcnabb better or worse than Delhomme for Houston?

he never was close to elite. always above average/average

I thought McDonald's offered the McNabb for a limited time???

That is really close. Id probably say McNabb would be a bit better because he doesnt have the downside(throwing stupid ints) that Delhomme has. McNabb still has a decent arm when he isnt bouncing it 3 feet in front of the WRs. McNabb gets in these spells for a few throws where he just completely sucks and isnt even close.

Great idea. McGahee, Tebow, McNabb. If Tebow needs to throw, give it to McNabb. If Tebow needs to run, give it to McGahee. Ultimate.

McNabb was never elite and now that he doesn't have Westbrook as a safety blanket, he's really not very good.

He'd have Foster in Houston. I have such low opinions of Delhomme by now, I pretty much would pick any QB over him.

I think most understand that he was around the 10th-15th best QB(in his prime years) most years. A comparison to Delhomme in his past prime years is in no way trying to consider him an elite QB.

Im with you there. In that Houston offense they dont need a QB trying to force the ball to AJ. They just need a QB that can complete around 60 percent and NOT throw int's. IMO Delhomme fails on both.

Raiders linebacker Rolando McClain was arrested and stands accused of illegally firing a gun in his hometown of Decatur, Alabama.

CSNBayArea.com reports that McClain has been arrested for discharging a firearm within city limits, third degree assault, menacing, and reckless endangerment.

Decatur Police Lt. John Crouch told Comcast SportsNet that McClain is currently in jail.

“I can tell you that Rolando McClain is under arrest,” Crouch said. “He’s been charged with third degree assault, menacing, reckless endangerment and discharging a firearm in city limits. He is still in custody.”

McClain, who went home this week for his grandfather’s funeral, was reportedly involved in a fight on Wednesday night before the shooting broke out.

It's sad that statement would even have to be made. Somehow And Ried was the only person in the world that thought it would be a good idea...

On the plus side, the Eagles are the only team with a coordinator who looks suspiciously like Erik Estrada.

Classic FOF move.

It's pretty bullshit that you can't even look at a receiver wrong without getting a flag. But a receiver cand throw a DB down and it's never called.

And Vince Young kills the season...well deserved after that stupid "Dream Team" moniker.

Julio Riddols 12-01-2011 10:07 PM

I say this as a non Eagles fan, but if I were an Eagles fan, the only player I would be happy to have on the team would be LeSean McCoy.

Grover 12-01-2011 10:07 PM

I've only been on these boards for a month, I have to say I love all the Bengals support that is here. I've been a fan since 1990 or 1991 when I bet my stepfather a quarter that they would beat the Hugh Millen led Patriots and did so 31-7.

Little did I know what I was getting myself into.

RedKingGold 12-01-2011 10:09 PM

I think Young might have some trouble getting work next year.

Fonzie 12-01-2011 10:10 PM

The QB situation on my fantasy team is pretty ugly right now, so I had to choose between Vince Young and Tavaris Jackson. Guess which one I chose?

EagleFan 12-01-2011 10:10 PM

What's the over/under on Andy Ried saying "I have to do a better job" in his press conference? How far into it? For the parlay, how long will the press conference last before he ends it because people dare to ask questions?

I say blow the d*** team up and keep only McCoy; I hate this team right now. I actually wasn't happy coming into the season even though they were predicted to do well because I didn't like the players on the team. I would rather like the team that I cheer for, like the Phillies and Flyers as they are a fun group of players.

It is somewhat surprising to me how many Bengals fans are here, and its always good to have another one around. The way I think it happened is we all have wished for most of our lives that we could be the G.M. of the team, so we were drawn to a game like FOF because of that.

This is where I was as a Bengals fan last year. The good news is that a complete 180 can happen in the space of a year.

Vince, Pt. II 12-01-2011 10:30 PM

Drafting a decent QB and amazing WR in the same draft is a pretty tall order, though. Good luck with that.

That support is not transferring to attendance this year. I was surprised how many leftover seats there were for the Browns game.

2010 avg home att - 60,634 4-12

Overall NFL attendance is down 1.1% vs last year, margins in Cincy are just a tad higher to say the least. No place has been hit by recession any harder than Michigan & they're up over 7k per game.

Sorry, not buying that as a factor in 2011 vs 2010 at all.

I wonder if next season the numbers don't go up. The high numbers from 2010 might be based on the 2009 season so 2011 might be getting punished for the 2010 season.

Ksyrup 12-02-2011 01:24 PM

I think it could be as simple as a combination of factors:

1. Lack of stars; Ochocinco gone and specifically, fans disgruntled with the Carson Palmer thing

2. Low expectations for season, tield to #1

3. Crappy schedule - SF and BUF (weeks 3 and 4) were the first 2 home games, and going into the season, nobody thought much of either team. Then came Indy in week 6, and by then, people knew Indy sucked

Those 3 games averaged low 40s.

Pittsburgh - 63K

Cleveland - a dreck of a team, in crappy weather, on Thanksgiving weekend - 48K

And that's been it so far. I blame a bad schedule and no motivation to go to the early games based on a fairly no-name roster with little expectation of competing. The one game that was decent, people went to.

Just my take.

But it was their second best attendance of the year

SF - 43,363
Buf - 41,142
Indy - 52,068
Pitt - 63,462
Cle - 48,260

There's also the Pittsburgh-fans-in-large-numbers issue to account for with that particular game.

FWIW, I think you're right, that it's a function of low expectations combined with the roster makeup that's doing it. Remember, Atlanta drew more fans losing with Vick than they did winning without him. People like to see stars, just the nature of the beast.

Ksyrup 12-02-2011 01:55 PM

Well, there are a lot of Indy fans here, it being so close to Cincy/Lexington. So that might have something to do with drawing more fans for that game. They weren't yet 0-11.

The Southern Ohio economy also really sucks. Unemployment is slightly to much higher in most of the counties the Bengals draw from.

The Cincy metro (MSA) is currently 0.1 % lower than the national average.

Granted, say, Dayton is higher (+0.4%) but is that area so much of the Bengals fan base? (I'm asking, I have no idea where they come from until you tell me)

The Cleveland game surprised me because much like Pittsburgh and Indy the Browns fans usually travel down to see the game. I'd guess the fact that the team sucks, along with Thanksgiving were the whole reason that the attendance was so low.

I'd say that the fans are tired of supporting the Brown family mainly, coupled with the economy, and maybe a little resentment towards the stadium funding being a big thing with the local budget hassles this year as the reason that they are not going to games as much.

Give the Bengals a playoff game and you'll see more people in the stadium, and then another good season next year and it'll go back to being sell outs.

Honolulu_Blue 12-02-2011 03:04 PM

Suh's 2 game suspenion is upheld on appeal. So, he'll miss this week against New Orleans and next week against Minnesota.

I have no doubt the Bengals attendance is because of:

1. the economy -- it's horrible in Ohio
2. people trying to prove a point to Mike Brown and staying strong in their will to do so despite the team doing well.

Yeah, in looking at more recent data the immediate metro area has gotten better. The Dayton area is bad and the rural counties west of Cincy are awful. They could probably get sellouts if the team didn't have such a terrible history. I think the Bengals lost a lot of season tickets after last year and the Palmer situation.

Donovan McNabb has gone unclaimed through waivers. I'm not surprised.

Secondly, the Vikings have picked up Sage Rosenfels.

Didn't the Reds have pretty mediocre attendance when they made the playoffs in 2010?

Suicane75 12-02-2011 03:48 PM

I'm having Ray Rhodes flashbacks. Someone help me.

25,438 in 2010. In 2011 they were at 27,327.

The only other thing to go along with the Eagles failing would be for the Jets to miss the playoffs. What a joy to have such an overrated, whining, crybaby team like the Eagles to go thud.

Oh god I would love to see the Jets crash and burn. I hate that belligerent fat fuck.

I have a friend who works for a major ticket broker outlet and we talked about them when I noticed how few fans were at a game and how well they've done this year. He told me they don't really offer a lot of cheap tickets. That their expensive tickets aren't as high priced as others, but they don't have a lot of super cheap tickets that some teams have up in the nosebleeds.

Basically they have one of the dumbest ticket pricing systems in the league.

The cheapest tickets they've had are $75. That's been lowered in the last couple of weeks to $65. Still too much for me. Here are the Bengals seat prices compared to the Packers.

They're now cheaper but I'm fairly certain the Bengals lowered their price by 10 bucks for all areas which means they were actually more expensive than the Packers.

The Lions heading into New Orleans this week reminds me of that scene in Jurassic Park when that cow or yak or whatever was lowered into the velociraptor pit.

Not really making his case by running into a tree either. His brain might be inside his body, but it's not attached to his head.

I hear he stomped on a few limbs because he was mad at the tree.

The Hamilton county deficit and the Bengals' lease probably also plays a role. The county is going to sell a hospital to cover the deficit and the Bengals refuse to alter their lease in any way that will benefit the county. They actually have a provision in the lease that the county will have to pay for a holographic replay system if one is ever developed.

People in southern Ohio really hate Mike Brown and it's going to take a run of success to overcome that.

Egad. Pacman and Jennings at corner? This could be a long day...

Is it weird that I'm worried about the 49er - Ram game? I totally shouldn't be, but I have a bad feeling. Nearly ten years of sucky 49er teams has taken its toll, I guess.

whomario 12-04-2011 11:52 AM

no Von Miller for the Broncos, just imagine if the Broncos/Tebow still win without maybe their best player ;)
