FOFC Sprint Cup Series - Season 1 - Final Race Posted - Season 1 Champion Crowned

Welcome to the very first season of the NEW FOFC Sprint Cup Series. This season we will have 20 races in total. After the first 15 are complete, the top 10 drivers in points will be entered into the Chase. Also, two wildcard spots for drivers with the most wins of any drivers outside of the top ten will be awarded giving us 12 drivers in the Chase for the final 5 races. The points are reset for the final races. Every driver starts with a base of 0 and then bonus points are given for the position the driver is in after the 15th race.

1st - 50
2nd - 45
3rd - 40
4th - 35
5th - 30
6th - 25
7th - 20
8th - 15
9th - 10
10th - 5
Wildcard 1 - 0
Wildcard 2 - 0

Each driver will then get 5 more bonus points for each win they have. (Wild cards will not get bonus points for their wins. They will start at 0.

Race #1 of 20 - Daytona 500 Qualifying

Ace Idol takes the pole as he is over a mile an hour faster than the second place qualifier. Ken Schoonover is 2nd followed by Avery Thomas, Kyle Kappe and David Gonzalez.

ToPaw racing in 1st and 3rd at quals...let's hope we finish the same in the race!

Coffee Warlord 02-06-2012 12:35 PM

Flying Yak teammates Nielsen & Flamebeard qualify at identical speeds. Heh.

ntndeacon 02-06-2012 12:38 PM

not a good start for the Ruddy Rhenish Racer! The actual race HAS to be better!

DataKing 02-06-2012 12:44 PM

Trick Dickle was the fastest in practice, but finished a disappointing 31st in qualifying for the Daytona 500. When asked the reason for his disappointing performance during qualifying, he winced slightly and then ran for the nearest bathroom...

RendeR 02-06-2012 02:02 PM

Qualifying == 2 laps

Race == 300-500 laps depending on the tracks.

perspective is everything =)

Race #1 of 20 - Daytona 500 Results

The two dominant cars for the last half of the race were the two who ended up battling it down to the checkered flag. Benton Gale held off a strong challenge from Kyle Kappe down the stretch to take the win in the Daytona 500.

The race only featured 3 cautions, but those cautions knocked a lot of top cars from contention. Ace Idol had the strongest car early on but was caught back in the pack before a wreck and suffered some damage, knocking him a lap down and out of contention. David Gonzalez, Alejandro Murrieta, Kerri Kong and Aemon Snow were all knocked out in a lap 32 crash. Chris Snow's day ended early with a broken valve, Trick Dickle was knocked out with a fuel leak and Dan Schoonover was knocked out in a wreck on lap 135.

PurdueBrad 02-06-2012 06:00 PM

A terrific day for Dumbo Racing as our two rookie drivers put their talents to good use. First, Nick Harold had a big day moving from 29'th to a 16'th place finish and even found his way to the lead for one lap. Cash Bradley, starting out of the 11 spot, fought his way to a top 5 finish, leading 7 laps, and scoring 160 points in the Chase.

BYU 14 02-06-2012 06:54 PM

Well at least we know Topaw racing can qualify well, now we just have to finish :)

Surprised that first wreck didn't take more people out as tight as the pack was. Good season opening race.

TRO 02-06-2012 07:23 PM

Disappointing finish after leading 29 laps for Kevin Kong, but still better than getting caught up in a wreck like teammate Kerri.

CrimsonFox 02-06-2012 07:32 PM

That game is fantastic! Thanks for running this!

And the fox and the wolf are both in the top 10! Woooo!

Wow Fox just lost 2nd place in the last lap.

RendeR 02-06-2012 08:30 PM

I hate restrictor plate racing. Lets get to some 1.5 mile tracks =)

kingfc22 02-06-2012 10:33 PM

Great....Both FC Racing teammates get taken out in the same wreck.

britrock88 02-06-2012 11:48 PM

A mixed day for Ninth Circle Holdings.

Helen Wheels accomplished her usual pattern of mediocre qualifying, a great race day, and a bad last lap. She lost 3 positions after the white flag flew to finish in 7th, but still gained 26 positions on her qualifying spot.

Rip Lickingood's #07 Vanilla Coke Chevy was caught in one of the day's cautions, but rode out the damage to a mid-table finish.

cmp 02-07-2012 02:00 AM

New drivers can still get into the series. You would be able to start at race #3. I have actually already run the 2nd race, trying to get a few ahead so I will be able to post them on fairly regular schedule.

Any new drivers would still have a shot at making the chase due to the wildcard spots.

cmp 02-07-2012 02:05 AM

It was a mediocre day for Cannon Pace and #5 car. He's not much of a super speedway driver so for him to stay mid pack was about all we could hope for the at CMP Racing. Hopefully he will be able to break out at when we get to tracks better suited to his skills.

Breeze 02-07-2012 06:35 AM

I think I've already done better in this season than I have in all the others combined....

PilotMan 02-07-2012 08:30 AM

Dixieland finishes with 2 running cars in the middle of the pack. Fantastic editing there cmp! Looks great! We'll take the finishes and the points. The General Lee was almost knocked out of the race by 2 of those crashes, so to finish at all was a plus.

PackerFanatic 02-07-2012 08:39 AM

PF Racing had a so-so day...Elliot Foley had some changes made to his car after a weak practice and I thought Andrew Foley would be the better of the two to start. Not so, as Elliot finishes with a top 10 and Andrew finishes 7 laps back in 25th. Still early in the year, but I'd rather see them both in the middle of the pack than at opposite ends like that.

DataKing 02-07-2012 09:47 AM

Trick Dickle springs a leak...the press is gonna have a field day with that one...

Avery Thomas was tied up in one of the wrecks and ended up dropping way back.

Looks like the ToPaw Racing team will have to pick it up here.

msuballa 02-07-2012 05:12 PM

Team Phillips is very pleased with their showing in the Daytona 500. Phillips and Henderson are not super-speedway drivers and anything in the top half of the field is good. They should both look better in the 1.5 mile races.

And you're also gonna see a nice Guinness logo as Nielsen blows by you and takes the checkered flag.

Race #2 of 20 - Samsung Mobile 500

Trick Dickle and Kevin Kong completed dominated the race this afternoon as the two nearly lapped the entire field, leaving only 6 cars on the lead lap at the end. It was Kevin who led the most laps but it was Trick who took the lead and then held off a challenge from Kevin on the final lap to take the win. Mustafa Henderson was 3rd, David Ginsberg 4th and Bo Duke finished 5th.

The race was unusual in the fact that there were no cautions. That allowed Trick and Kevin to continue to increase their lead the entire race.

Headline: Dickle firms up performance, pounds his way to a huge, Texas-sized victory.

TRO 02-08-2012 12:52 PM

Teammate - Kerri Kong is not going so well.

Completely thrilled with the 4th place finish, never beings in danger in this race as well really helps.

PurdueBrad 02-08-2012 01:50 PM

Two drivers in the top 6 thus far for the season standings, I'm pretty happy. As someone else said earlier, this is already my most successful season in FOFC Sprint Cup!

Race #3 of 20 - Richmond Qualifying

cmp 02-10-2012 12:11 AM

FOFC Sprint Cup Series - Season 1 - Race #3 Richmond

Luke Duke took the pole and dominated the early running of the Richmond 400 before getting into a pit road accident while he was the leader. He later on would get collected in another wreck and despite leading for most of the first half of the race he would finish 29th. David Gonzalez took advantage of Luke's troubles and dominated the final half of the race leading 194 laps en route to an easy win. Ace Idol, Dan Schoonover, Andrew Foley and Chris Snow rounded out the top 5.

Gee, Bo and Luke, do you think you hit enough people? That's NOT cool! :)

sterlingice 02-10-2012 05:37 AM

Whoops- missed the start of the season.

The 4th at Daytona was a really nice finish and a middle of the pack at Texas to go into 2nd overall was very cool. Unfortunately, Richmond was not so kind and Silvers is back down to 8th. Still, it's in the Chase if the season ended today but there's a long way to go.

SI

PurdueBrad 02-10-2012 05:46 AM

Team Dumbo is having some fighting over the peanuts apparently. If you check out the 1:26 mark of the video from Richmond you will see my #7 Jack Daniels car spin out our #49 Addidas car. A bad, bad day for the team.

PilotMan 02-10-2012 07:31 AM

The cars obviously had a great day. Can't say that much about the drivers but what else do you expect from a couple of good ol boys? A pit road crash isn't indicative of a quality effort. Lots of wrecks, but it looks like it was a gearbox that put us out of the race. Rough to have a top 5 in the chase and a bottom 5 as well. It'll take some more good luck and consistency to stay/improve.

Wrecks happen, especially when slower cars don't get out of your way. Just move over and let us blow by and you can go back about your business. :)

BYU 14 02-10-2012 08:08 AM

Nice, overall points lead for Ace Idol and Topaw racing! Hopefully the consistency continues.

britrock88 02-10-2012 08:28 AM

Rip Lickingood continues to be caught in the accidents of the other poor drivers; this time, it's his suspension that gave way.

Helen Wheels began her usual comeback, and I saw her in what looked like the top 10 or so during the highlights. But she receded to 3 laps down and a middling finish, pushing her further down into the teens in the Chase standings.

TRO 02-10-2012 09:09 AM

Race turned into Survivor.

PackerFanatic 02-10-2012 09:43 AM

Terrible qualifying (to be expected) for Andrew Foley, but a 4th place finish is fantastic.

DataKing 02-10-2012 11:31 AM

Nice job by Tricky Dick to salvage an 8th place finish after getting caught up in a couple of those wrecks. And up to 5th in the overall standings...I'll take it.

RendeR 02-10-2012 01:06 PM

Both Chris and Aemon Snow worked magic as they avoided all the talentless hacks that were wrecking around them.

13th to 5th
30th to 6th - AWESOME day for Young Aemon! his quick wits avoided at least 3 wrecks.

another 32 places gained during the event and another back to back finish for this team. They know how to work together!

cmp 02-10-2012 01:07 PM

Mediocre showing for Cannon at Richmond. Started mid pack and finished mid pack. Currently sitting in the final chase spot so hopefully we'll have some good weeks ahead and move further into the top ten.

kingfc22 02-10-2012 03:47 PM

Gonzalez with a much needed win to get us back in the race. Murrieta is still buried down in the standings and will need to get hot soon.

DanGarion 02-10-2012 04:06 PM

I missed the first couple races there. Glad I hit the wrong button and realized this was going on now.

Race #4 of 20 - Coca-Cola 600 Results

Trick Dickle and his team have the #15 Coors Light locked in early on in this Sprint Cup Season. He moved up from his 20th starting position to lead 236 laps and dominate the last half of the Coca-Cola 600 and win his 2nd race this season. Aemon Snow made a strong charge at the end but it wasn't enough to overtake Trick. Once again the Snow's finish back-to-back as Chris Snow finished 3rd after starting 25th. Kevin Kong was strong yet again as he finished 4th and Nick Phillips bounced back from a terrible Richmond race with a top 5. David Ginsberg, who had the strongest car early on finished 6th followed by Luke Duke, Andrew Foley, Mustafa Henderson and Ken Schoonover.

Coffee Warlord 02-11-2012 03:23 PM

Ahhh, now my drivers are back to their usual style.

britrock88 02-11-2012 06:08 PM

Ninth Circle's drivers both qualify well at their home track. Helen Wheels edges into the lead position from her 6th-place start, but she fades to the back of the lead lap and a 16th-place finish. Rip Lickingood, meanwhile, fades from the 5th row to last among running cars. Don't know what's going wrong in the 07 car's shop.

Aemon Snow from dead last at Daytona to 7th in the points 3 races later.

What more can you say about Trick Dickle right now. Once again, in a two car battle down the stretch it was Trick who had the strongest car and took home the win. This time he battled with Nick Phillips all day long as Nick led 111 laps, and Trick led 103. But Nick's car faded after the final restart, and despite a minor yellow flag accident that gave Trick's car a bit of damage no one could catch him as he went on to take his 3rd checkered flag of the season. Aemon Snow was 2nd followed by Mustafa Henderson, Cannon Pace and Phillips.

Trick Dickle is starting to pull away a bit at the top of the points. Mustafa Henderson has been consistent all year and sits in 2nd. Aemon Snow, Ace Idol and Cannon Pace round out the top 5. Andrew Foley and Bo Duke sit in a tie for the final Chase spot and Benton Gale and David Gonzalez hold the two wildcard spots currently.

FC Racing will need some tweaks in the offseason.

Gonzalez and Murrietta are brutal right now.

britrock88 02-14-2012 12:32 AM

From the Charlotte video: Ninth Circle is a bit more disappointed coming away from North Carolina after seeing Rip's 07 Vanilla Coke car running in the top 10 early on, and Helen's 6 Discount Tire car running in the top 5 fairly late.

In Phoenix, Rip overcame a poor qualification, picking up 14 spots to finish 20th, but he is still struggling mightily this season. Helen once again waxed toward the front of the pack, but waned as the race went on, finishing 16th. (I thought the heat in Phoenix would suit her!) She is one position outside the Chase as of now.

DataKing 02-14-2012 11:52 AM

Wow that back end was really caved in...good thing Phoenix isn't a big aero track...
