2014 NFL Regular Season, Week 4
Rogers has set himself up for a bad quote, if the team doesn't come together, after his telling folks to just relax, it'll be okay in Green Bay.
|
Packers vs. Bears will be interesting to see who wins. Lions against the Jets so they could end up being alone in first place. Philly at San Fran will likely be the game of the week. Hard to imagine San Fran starting out 1-3.

Just awesome. Surprised this wasn't a link to The Onion.......
Jacksonville Jaguars Send Letter Asking Fans to Sit Down at Games | Bleacher Report |
Quote:
I'm sure those standing section tickets are full price! |
Quote:
I don't know. If the Niners don't find a pass rush soon, I'm afraid the Eagles will abuse the secondary with their speedy receivers. Just look at what John Brown did this past weekend. |
Quote:
Well, FWIW, all of the big catches Brown had were against blown assignments/coverages. 49ers vs Cardinals coaches film tweets - Niners Nation |
Rubber meets the road for the G-Men tonight. Have to win and get to 2-2. After tonight they have a rough stretch where they get Atlanta at home, @ philly and Dallas, Indy at home, then to Seattle.
If they drop to 1-3 tonight they are likely looking at 2-7 after that stretch. |
Quote:
Yeah, but when you read the letter you realize there's a group of douchebag fans standing up and blocking everyone's view in that particular section. Obviously this is an ongoing problem. |
Quote:
I didn't have an issue with it. I kind of agree, standing on third down, etc...ok, standing on first and 20 with my 4 year old sitting behind you, annoying. |
Let's go Giants!
|
I have no idea who is even playing tonight. Watching American Dad on Netflix.
|
Looks like he tapped that left foot to me.
|
But not with the ball, it seems.
|
Yeah, I think the slight shift of the ball was the issue.
|
Amazing what happens when Eli doesn't throw INTs.
|
I wonder how many people watching know who "THAT Joe Walton" was.
|
Okay, I need some help with this one. How can he have completed the process of catching the pass (two feet down, made a football move, whatever), and still be a defenseless receiver?
According to the rules, as soon as the process is complete, he's now a runner. As a runner, helmet-to-helmet contact is not illegal, so.... |
How are you considered a defenseless receiver if you have already made the catch and are running with it?
|
Redskins, how do you let Victor Cruz get THAT much space on an sideline toss with :07 left on the clock?
|
That's...a pretty good question on the catch and run. It looked to me too that he ducked, and just got sandwiched - with the two Giants hitting each other just as much as Paul.
|
Since when is helmet to helmet not illegal on a runner?
|
Quote:
Since always. |
Here's the rule for defenseless receiver
"(2) A receiver attempting to catch a pass; or who has completed a catch and has not had time to protect himself or has not clearly become a runner. If the receiver/runner is capable of avoiding or warding off the impending contact of an opponent, he is no longer a defenseless player;" So I guess they're saying that even though he completed the catch, he didn't have enough time to protect himself so he's still labeled "defenseless". |
Do you all think the football gods will smile on teh Bengals this year for the Devon Still story?
|
The Giants defense have commenced "melt down mode".
|
Well nevermind...
|
Ummmm,... No?
I can't paste the text on my iPad, but... http://www.nfl.com/static/content/pu...er_Conduct.pdf 8g and 8j clearly state you can't use your helmet. |
I see the note at the bottom, I stand corrected.
|
Eli pins Washington down on the 1.
Very clever by Eli. |
Looked like a TD to me.
|
I think we can end the "Kirk Cousins is the man in DC now" talk
|
Yup
|
Quote:
"(g) If a player uses any part of his helmet (including the top/crown and forehead/”hairline” parts) or facemask to butt, spear, or ram an opponent violently or unnecessarily." That's the "Spearing" rule. "(j) if a player illegally launches into a defenseless opponent." A runner is not "defenseless". Helmet-to-helmet contact has never been an automatic penalty against a runner like it is against a QB or defenseless receiver. Helmet-to-helmet contact happens on running plays all the time. It just happened on the last running play to Jennings. EDIT: Quote:
Or I could have just read one more line and quoted that... :) |
Wow. Eli with the rushing TD.
|
Gruden didn't make it any easier for Cousins. up until the midway point in the second quarter, when they were down by no more than one TD, Washington had twice as many throws as runs. I saw that in Cincy and wondered why he kept asking Dalton to be a superstar.
|
I actually feel bad for cousins.
|
I has many sads

Quote:
Anything to quiet the whole, "OMG, there are 3 former MSU QBs winning in the NFL" thing that's going around is fine by me. :D |
That Paulsen fumble is what killed the game, I said it then .. granted the defense came out better right at the beginning of the 2nd half, but there was too much to do, and Cousins made some mistakes. Probably the worst secondary in the league without D-Hall .. and wasn't far off with him.
|
Quote:
The letter doesn't seem that bad. They aren't asking fans to sit, just stand with the flow of the game. Don't stand during the entire game and block everyone's view. |
Cousins is the modern day Scott Chandler.

Heh, I thought the same while climbing into bed last night. Could you THROW any more interceptions? |

Don't worry. I'm Devin Gardner will be an NFL starter next year to balance things out! |

:D |
Quote:
Yes, we need to get back to the "3 NC State QBs winning in the NFL" bit (once Glennon gets back in the driver's seat). |
|
If I had access to easy sports gambling, I'd be living under a bridge by now. Everything I knew about football told me that the Skins were going to beat the Giants by 14+
|
Quote:
Yeah I knew it was coming. |
Quote:
This. When you aren't running the ball all the secondary has to do is sit back and watch the QB. |
Gruden is running the ball an average number of times.
For the Arena League he grew up in. |
Quote:
Unfortunately for Gruden, players in NFL secondaries don't work at Jiffy Lube during the week. All they do is study film and practice. I'm starting to wonder if Andy Dalton's issues weren't related to Jay Gruden? |
Pretty sure that this is only funny to me because my kids kept me from getting enough sleep. But it occurs to me that Blake Bortles needs a touchdown celebration where he grabs his stomach and pretends to do a huge belly laugh.
The Bortles Chortle. |

I think you need to trademark it before Greggg easterbrook steals it |

Ridiculous penalties already started in the Bears Packers game. They are just making shit up at this point
|
Of course Brandon Marshall gets a TD on the first drive.

One of the big 3 had to leave and he was clearly the most logical. Have fun building your brand in NY while you keep getting fined. |
Refs love the bears.
|
Smith Sr...break your goggles out.
|
Quote:
And now they love the Packers. Terrible officiating. |
Quote:
These refs are embarrassing themselves. Three major penalties that were completely wrong that have seriously changed the game. |
Terrible unnecessary roughness on Mundy. LOL NOW ANOTHER ONE. unbelieveable
|
There is another one. I do love to see refs deciding the game. Great job NFL!
|
Quote:
And it has gotten worse from that point ... pretty much every flag thrown has been wrong. |
I'm glad the Colts play in the AFC south, makes overcoming an 0-2 start easy.
|
What a play call on that TD pass to Jeffery.
|
Goggle up, son.
|
Bears apparently denied on the 1/12 of an inch line. Hard to give refs benefit of doubt on getting that one right.
|
There's no defense being played at Soldier Field today. Rodgers is going to have to score a TD on every drive to win this game and he has thus far. There's not a competent official on the field. My favorite call was Julius Peppers getting called for hands to the face when he never had his hands near the o-lineman's face, it was the o-lineman who had his hands on Peppers face.
|
I want some Bortles Service
|
Every time I come in here, all I see is people whining about the refs. Bunch of whiners. Geeze, stop whining!
GFY |
My connection flight in O'hare was missed...so I am chillin here in a bar watching the CHI-GB game with an assortment of fans but mostly Bears fans. It's really making up for the 6 hour delay I have incurred to watch this game with Bears and Pack fans. 'Murica!
|
Stafford with the plunge and a score.
|
When you think the calls can't get any more absurd in the bears game...
|
If only there was someway we could get replacement refs.....
|
Week of the blow outs apparently. NYG-WAS, BAL-CAR, GB-CHI, IND-TEN, MIA-OAK all blow outs so far. My CBS station just switched from BAL-CAR to the HOU-BUF game.
|
Boom Buffalo!

wow Pittsburgh how do you lose to a winless Buccs team at home after crushing the Panthers the week before? what a horrible loss.

Haha, Pittsburgh.
