FOFC Ultimate Fighter - Season One (The Finals!!! 10 PM EST - Thu)
1 Attachment(s)
Welcome to the Werewolf edition of The Ultimate Fighter. Based on the Spike/UFC reality show of the same name but with a minor twist. Fight to become The Werewolf Ultimate Fighter winner (season one).
During the day there will be two deadlines. The first will be the challenge deadline. The team which wins the challenge will vote on which fighter from the other team they will face in the evenings matchup. In addition they will chose which of their fighters will fight for them. The winning fighter will remain alive for the final tournament. The losing fighter will be out of the tournament but will remain in the game for the team challenges. The twist is that each team will have a traitor amongst their ranks. They do not want either team to win and will win as a "team" if they can arrange a "team tie" (neither of the teams achieve their winning condition). The traitors will have PM rights between themselves. Multiple winning conditions will exist. The team winning condition will be to advance the most fighters to the final tournament. Players have an individual winning condition of winning the tournament final. The traitors win by nullifying the team winning conditions (making it a tie), they do not win with either team. Each player will define thir fighter. See post three for fighter creation details and what is required. Post two will have the rules/roles. Post four will be the signup sheet. |
Rules
Daily Deadlines Challenges - 7 PM EST Fight Votes- 9 PM EST (Can be submitted prior to the challenge deadline) Fight Strategy - 10 PM EST (Can be submitted as conditional at any time) Team Threads - Each team will have their own thread in which to post. - Players may only enter their team's thread and the main thread. - Fight matchup votes will be done within the team threads (the other team will not know the matchups until they are announced after the voting period ends at 9 PM EST). - This thread will be the main thread where all results will be posted. Challenges - Each day a challenge will be run between the teams. - Each team must submit their strategy for the challenge (by reference this will be similar to a dungeon crawl in which the teams will submit how they want to approach the challenge). - Results of the challenge will be based upon the strategies that are sent in by each team as well as the fighter skills (using stronger fighters for challenges whih require strength may help the team gain an advantage). - The team which wins the challenge will vote on afighter from the other team which will fight that evening and select a fighter from their camp which will fight. The advantage here will be to select a potentially favorable matchup for the winning team. - Effort given at a challenge may affect the fighter's stamina for that evening's fight, adding the the advantage the winning team gains by selecting the matchups. Fights - The fights will be run at 10 PM EST. - The winner of the fight will move on to the next round and gain a victory for their team. - The loser of the fight will remain in the game to participate in challenges and will be part of the undercards during the final tournament (those fights will not affect the winning criteria but are for added atmosphere). Final Tournament - The final 8 fighters will fight in a single elimination tournament to determine the overll winner of "season one". - Traitors will have no affect on the final tournament, though they wil participate if they have made it to the tournament (which means they have won their qualifying bout and therefore were not discovered). Fight Votes - The team that wins the challenge may vote on who will be in that evening's fight (from the fghters that have yet to fight). - They will select a member of the losing team and a member of their team. - Votes may be case at any point during the the day but only the votes by the winning team will be caculated. - Votes will be case within the team threads. Fight Strategies - Fighters may submit fight strategies at any time during the day through PM (conditional on if they are fighting). - They should be submitted via PM. - If no strategy is submitted the default strategy will be used (even percentages for all options if no default was submitted at fighter creation or what was submitted at fighter creation). Roles Team Captain - The team captains will be voted on by each team on day one. The team captain will submit the final orders for the team challenges. At any time during the game ateam may decide to change team capatains by voting someone else into that role. Team captains may select another team member to be in charge of submitting the challenge orders for any given day (example: they know that they may not be around but another team member will be; they can give temporary authority to that player to submit that day's orders) |

Born in 1982 Fighting out of Austria Gregor grew to his amazing size in Austria, earning him the nickname "The Mountain". Too big for most sports, he utilized his size working in the quarries, smashing rock, lugging it. That wasn't exciting enough and so he turned to weightlifting, taking a place on the Austrian Olympic squad. It wasn't until he turned to fighting that he gained his new nickname. No longer just notable for his size, Gregor was most notable for falling on his opponents like an avalanche. Using his size and strength he likes to beat an opponent down, and has done it to any number until this point. As placid as a mountain, Gregor is well liked by fans. "Wick" Ed Johnson 6' 0" 235 lbs. By the age of 17 Mike began to train Kickboxing. While not technically classified as a world class kickboxer he managed to rack up an impressive 14-2-3 professional record(to go with his 32-5-1 amatuer boxing record and 3-0 professional boxing record). In 2008 Mike began to train MMA after the explosion of global popularity for the sport. As of today his record stands at 5-4. After losing his first three contests, due in no small part to being nearly completely one dimensional, he has since developed good takedown defense and won 5 of his last six fights. Mike got his big break when Don Spears showed up to scout Dan Jones as a potential FOFC TUF cast member in August. Dan was matched up against Mike, and in that fight Dan was knocked out in just 32 seconds. Following the fight Don offered Mike a spot on the show no questions asked. I'm in
|
I'll post the rules in a little while, have to jump online for work for a while (hopefully just a little while).
|
I'm in. I'll read more carefully and do all the homework later.
|
Hoping to get 16 players as that will tie in perfectly to a schedule. This will be unlike many other games as there is not a true werewolf mechanic and only the "traitor" mechanic.
Additionally everyone will be involved during the entire game. It will also have a set schedule (we will know exactly when the game will begin and end). If we get the 16 players I am hoping; for the first 8 days (week days) will be the qualifying days which will include challenges. The 9th day will have the quarterfinals and the semi-finals (using the 7 and 10 deadlines). Day 10 will be the finals at 10 and will include a full card of 8 events with the co-main event being the "3rd place match" and main event being the final. |
Please let me know if there are any questions at all about this.
I hope to get it kicked off on Monday (I will try to push this in the main thread). |
I'll play, but I might not have internet access from Saturday until Tuesday, as we are moving across town.

How are you feeling? |
Quote:
Eh. Not great, but good enough to sit at my desk and play Civ 5 and WW. :) Tomorrow morning I go to the Neurologist to discuss my EEG, and see if I'm clear to finally drive again. I really hope I can because I feel trapped right now. I went to my normal doctor today to talk about my thyroid test, and my gastric emptying test, and I actually gained 2 pounds since last week!! Once I have my thyroid removed, that will seem like nothing. 20-30 more pounds and I'll be happy. Anyway, wish m luck!!! |
I wish you the best of luck with everything. How are you liking Civ5?
|
I am in. I'll read up tomorrow to see what all I need to provide here for fighter details.
|
Sure. I'm in.
|
In the skills list, can you explain what Ground Game covers?
|
I'll give this a shot.
|
Quote:
Ground Game covers the ability to transition, block transitions or escape. |
dola: sorry for the delayed response. I have bee working overnight this week to work with our India offices and ended up sleeping from around 11 to 7.
|
Added year of birth to the list of attributes.
|
All: Feel free to send in a write up bio if you would like. I will add that to the bio post.
|
In. I'll send a bio over the weekend.
|
In. i'll get a bio ready
|
Halfway there...
If this goes over well would those involved be interested in seeing this carry over as an interactive dynasty? |
This looks very cool but I'm not going to be able to participate, have two weddings to go to in the two weeks. Hope a bunch of people join up for ya.
|
Have fun at the weddings... and yes.... GO FLYERS!!! :)
|
Is this still going to start Monday, I'm really busy that day and would hate to miss day 1.
|
Quote:
I would really like to get to 16 people so I may delay it a day or two. Have been making a PM push like crazy to try to get players. |
EF -- What does the 'control' skill refer to? What is the difference between 'toughness' and 'heart'?
|
Quote:
Control is the ability to control your opponent (dictate the fight). From what I see in my testing it seems that toughness is the ability to take damage while heart is the ability to continue longer with damage. Being tough can get you to eat that punch without flinching but having heart can get you to keep fighting even though you have gotten pounded to the point where others would tap. |
Okay I"m in. :) This sounds cooler than cool. (which is pretty cool)
|
We're getting there. Looking into a way to do this with fewer than 16, just in case we can't get 16 (based on some of the responses that I have received it sounds like WW will be very rough to find players for over the next month or so).
|
I have named the two teams. Based on nothing more than the first two players that responded. This competition will be Team Danny versus Team Autumn.
That does not mean that they will be the team leaders. Each team can change their name on day one with a team vote, if they choose to. |
Fighter details sent.
|
Also, FYI my availability during the day will be nonexistent due to FOFC being blocked at work and the fact that I'm supposed to be at work.
|
Working on a way to tweak the game a bit if we can't get the 16 I had hoped for.
|
sorry, when does this start?
|
Quote:
Going to rework some of what I have planned to see if we can get it started by Wednesday with a smaller roster. We hoping we would b able to start Monday but that isn;t going to be the case. |
Gotta get you my fighter bio...
|
I'm in for the even number. Maybe you could create 6 cans to fill the roster out?
|
Quick bounce from here. I am thinking of taking the approach of adding 6 fighters outside of this group to fill out the roster to 16. I'll post details this evening. I have received other fighters that I haven't updated yet (will update that when I am at home, after I enter them into the sim). For those who have not yet sent fighter details, please do so.
|
If we can get Lathum to sign up, maybe he can talk saldana into it as well... :)
|
I can't commit to reading the rules until tomorrow, I'll let you know then. I'll talk to Sal as well.
|
If we can get to 12 fighters I'll throw in 4 made up fighters to complete the rosters. They will be default fighters (8's, with default strategies). I will put 2 on each team. Will flesh out how they will be used tonight.
|
Of the signed up players there are 5 that have not sent their fighter details. We will begin on Wednesday and I will post the teams and details about the first challenge tomorrow evening.
|
Oh, Lathum, great pix that you posted on FB of the first feeding. Reminds me of when my daughters were that age. Enjoy the **** out of these times as it is amazing how quickly they grow up.

Two players have not sent the fighter details as of yet. I will name the teams and flesh out the universe a bit more with another exhibition fight (or two) to announce the beginning of the game.
There will be some changes to the game at this point. With there being 10 current players The teams will be 5 and 5 with each team having 3 "CPU" fighters. With 10 players I will remove the traitor roles and add a couple mechanics that will allow for some team versus team "espionage". Additionally the CPU players will only fight other CPU players during the first round. This way the team game will be decided by 5 fights that are human player versus human player (the 3 CPU player fights will not count towards the team totals). With that said, if we get two more players before the game starts that will put us at 12 human and just 4 CPU. The traitor roles will remain in play at that point as there will be 6 human versus human first round matches. |
Tonight at 11 PM the FOFC has signed Chris Leben and Phil Baroni to square off in a 3 round match prior to the announcement of the teams.
Once the teams are announced the day one challege will be announced and the game will begin. Anyone may post in this thread. The team thread may only be used by members of that team (and anyone who is reading along but not involved in the game, just don't tell the teams what the other team is doing for the challenges). |
This sounds like a lot of fun. Thanks for running this.
|
Quote:
No problem. I'm enjoying it as well so it's almost selfish reasons for me. :) |
The FOFC would like to announce a last minute signing for the exhibition fights prior to the FOFC UF team announcements. Fedor Emelianenko will face Brock Lesnar in a three round exhibition bout. This bout will be after the team annuncements.
|
|
Welcome to the Team Introductions for the FOFC Ultimate Fighter Season One. Tonight we will see two esciting MMA fights. The teams will be announced between the two fights and the first challengess will be announced after the fights.
When all is said and done the game will be on. |
My fighter details are in.
|
Chris Leben glares at his opponent from the opposite corner.
Phil Baroni is calm in his corner. He looks convinced of his possibilities. This is the first time they meet inside the cage. It's hard to say who will be winning this fight. The specialized media doesn't have a favourite either. The referee of the bout is Dan Miragliotta. |

I'll add them once the announcements are done. |

Clearly Fedor wants no part of Mike Jackson.
|
Don Spears re-enters the cage. Clearly pleased by the action which the crowd has seen tonight. Looking determined that the FOFC will offer the same kind of excitement to their fans.
"Wow, what a evening of action. That was just two fights but I promise you that we will see much more action like that. We will be featuring our own crop of fighters as we get this federation on its feet. We start with heavyweights with out Ultimate Fighter competition but we will bring you more, as much as you demand." "Here is what the teams are waiting for. What will your first challenge be?" He turns towards the screen. On the screen appears to be a sand pit. In the middle of the sand pit are two barrells. One is red, the other blue. As the camera pans out there seems to be a finish line about 50 yards from the barrells. Between the barrells and the finish line are two obstacles. The first is a 10 foot wide well filled with water, the depth cannot be determined. The second is an 8 foot high fence. Above the fence is a bar which leaves about 3 feet of space between the top of the fence and the bar. Then you can see that sitting on the ground between the two obstacles are several items. There is a rope, a deflated raft, 2 cubes (1 cubic foot), 2 cubes (8 cubic feet), 2 cubes (27 cubic feet) and 2 poles (11 feet long). "Those barrells weigh 300 pounds each. The first team to get their barrell across the finish line wins. The winning team will select the first matchup of the competition and gain another advantage, which only they will discover." "Good luck and Game On!!!" |
Posting the challenge desciption in the team threads as well. Feel fee to ask any questions.
|
deadline?
|
Quote:
7 PM EST deadline for the challenges. 9 PM for the winning team to decide on the first fight matchup (and for either team to change team name or team captain). 10 PM for the fighters to get their strategy updates. |
The teams are being briefed about the challenge to make sure that all are aware of the rule. The course has been setup and everything is laid out. There appears to be dark clouds in the area, that sand could become mud if the rain breaks out...
|
Running the results now and will be posting shortly. Sorry for being a couple minutes late, had some issues with the kids doing their homework (and Halladay having a no hitter through 7 helped me lose track of time during that as well).
|
The teams are in place and they are about to start the challenge. The tension mounts as the participants put their game faces on.
Teams Ready!!!! Teams Set!!!! Go!!! |
For Team Autumn:
Strauss and Johnson rush to the barrel and begin to roll it towards the water. Alll the while Jackson, Rurik and Loff sprint for the water an dive in to swim to the other side. Rodriguez, Wheeler and Vanderzee stand at the starting line and watch. In the meantime... The entire Team Danny is crossing the water to head for the supplies. (HE'S THOUGH 8 INNNIGS!!!!!!) |
There is a mad scramble at the supplies as Festas and Imada manage to grab the poles for Team Danny. Loff manages to grab the raft for Team Autumn and there is a mad scramble for the rope. An impromptu tug of war has begun.
Strauss and Johnson almost have the barrel to the edge of the water for Team Autumn. |
(this is very hard for me to concentrate with the game on, I am sorry for the slow results.... I have no nails left)
|
NO HITTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

|
Team Danny has the rope and they send McCracken, Radovich, Schmidt and Ouyo across the water with the rope as Festas and Imada take the poles to the well and place them across the well.
Team Autumn has the raft and Loff throws the raft across the water to Strauss and Johnson bt they are not sure what to do now as they seem to have not gotten everything they wanted. |
Team Danny has thei barrel tied with the rope and have rolled it to the well. Strauss and Johnson have begun looking for a way to get the raft inflated.
Rodriguez, Wheeler and Vanderzee still stand at the starting line and watch. |
I'm rooting for Rodriguez, Wheeler, and Vanderzee.
|
Willis and Augosto begin to stack 3 of the cubes (one of each size) into a staricase at the fence for Team Danny.
Jackon has begun to stack a set of stairs for Team Autumn. Team Danny is beginning to guide their barrel across the water using the poles as a bridge and the rope as emergency retrieval. Johnson finds a quick inflate on th raft and the raft begins to inflate. As it reaches full size the questin is if the raft will hold the weight of the barrel. |
Team Danny has their barrel across the water and carry it towards the stairs. Festas has taken the rope off the barrel and runs to the wall. He climbs the stairs and secures the rope on the bar above.
Team Autumn has their barrel in the raft and have begun to attempt to float it across, they must go slowly as it is not steady. Team Danny is at the wall. |
Team Danny ties the rope around their barrel and begin to use the rope to help lift it up the stairs and over the wall. It drops to the other side with a thud. Imada has lost his balance at the top of the wall and falls to the ground on the other side, he appears injured.
Team Autumn has their barrel across the water and are trying to make up time getting to the wall. It is to late as Team Danny is now crossing the finish line with their barrel. Using their full manpower realy helped them secure victory. |
Team Danny gets to decide the matchups tonight. There will be one CPU versus CPU match and one player versus player match. Thedeadline for the decision is 9 PM ESTand the fights will be at 10 PM EST with the fighters having that time frame to adjust their strategy.
