(Vote) Random Debut Historical League Poll
Ok, these are the options that the RDHL owners need to vote on:
1) If we make it to 16 teams, what is the preferred league setup? Option A) Two Eight Team Leagues, top team in each league qualifies for World Series Option B ) Two Eight Team Leagues, top two teams in each league play for league championship, winners play for World Series Option C) Two Eight Team Leagues, each League has two four team divisions, division winners qualify for playoffs, winners play for World Series 2) Do we go with a designated hitter? Option A) No DH in either league Option B ) DH in one league, but not the other Option C) DH in both leagues 3) Do we use the Reserve Rule? (This means that players whose contracts expire are still bound to the team indefinitely, the real rule was in place until 1973) Option A) No Option B ) Yes 4) What is the preferred sim length/amount of sims per week? (The default length of the disabled list will match one sim, so if we sim 10/15 games at a time, that will be the length) Option A) Two sims per week (Monday/Friday), two weeks/15 days per sim Option B ) Two Sims per week, (Monday/Friday, 10 days per sim Option C) Three Sims per week (Monday/Wed/Sat), two weeks/15 days per sim) Option D) Three Sims per week (Mon/Wed/Sat), 10 days per sim Option E) One Sim per week 5) (Joke question, it's tradition) Do you have a trout in your rectum? A) Yes B ) Of course C) I have a hatchery suppository D) Enough stupid questions already, Foz! |
1. C, but I am cool with B. With 16 teams, 4 playoffs teams is a good number. It keeps it like baseball and more teams stay interested during the playoffs.
2. A 3. A 4. C is my preference, but it is really up to you as the commish. You're doing all of the work, so that's up to you. Whatever the sim length is, we need to make the DL length the same or in increments of the same. 5. C |

Ooops! I replied via PM.
1- B or C. I feel that in on-line leagues it is important to draw out the relevance of games late into the season for more teams. 2- A. I like the equity or balance of having the same rules. 3- A. 4- B or C. Either one works but whatever works best for the Commish. 5- C. Additionally, I do prefer no scouting and no recalculating (keeps some randomness to historical players) but neither is a game-breaker. |
1. C (I'm with PurdueBrad on this. Gotta keep people interested until late in the season)
2. C (Since we are simming games, not managing them, I'm still not sold on the AI handling the 'when to pinch hit for a pitcher' correctly) 3. A (Need to have FA to keep people engaged in the offseason) 4. C (agree with Spleen, that the DL time should match sim time) 5. E - all of the above |

1. B - I have no problem with C either. My preference toward B is by about an RCH.
2. A 3. A 4. A - Really ambivalent on this one. I'd prefer the 15 day sim options to 10, but again not by much. 5. C |

2. I am fine with B or C. I prefer C. 3. A 4. C 5. The answer, of course, is Yes, since I have a hatchery suppository. That's a silly question, Foz. |
Ok, so far:
1) League Setup: Looks like 16 teams, two eight team leagues, top two in each league get into playoffs 2) DH: Still close, but the yes to DH folks have an advantage 3) The Reserve Clause will NOT be in effect 4) Sims: 3 times a week, 10-15 days at a time, I think I may go 10 days, just to even things out ( a month a week sounds fine) |
I'm fine with those settings if we get 2 more.
