(FOFC GAME) College Football Bowl Game Betting..

I figure that since we do it for the WSOP and others, it'd be good to run a fantasy/betting league for the college bowl season)

Ok, here's the rules:

$10,000 in mythical money to bet.

You can wager the following:

Point Spread Results: Max $1,000 Per Game, $2,500 for BCS Games, $5,000 on BCS Championship

Non Point Spread Bets (First Half, Second Half, Over/Under, and Prop Bets), $500 per Game, $1250 for BCS Games, $2,500 for BCS Championship)

I'm looking for a good site to use for non point-spread bets, I was planning to use VEGAS.com: Gaming: NCAA football sports betting line Vegas.com's link and the Caesar-Hilton's books, but if someone has a better site to use with lines and prop bets, I'm all for it.

Suggestions, ideas? I was thinking of an option once per week, that you can bet double the limit on a point spread, but you have to give up three points (-7 becomes -10, +7 becomes +4 etcetera)

Seems interesting to me.

First set of lines are out (12/15-12/22):

Nevada-Arizona (-10)
Toledo at Utah State (-10)
BYU (-3)-San Diego State
Ball State - Central Florida (-8)
East Carolina - Louisiana Lafayette (-5.5)
Washington - Boise State (-5.5)

My wagers:

Nevada-Arizona I'm going to take Arizona, giving 10, for $750. I wasn't that impressed with Nevada the couple times I saw them.. I thought about making this the risky wager (doubling the limit, but having to give up three extra points), but I figured 13 points was too much to give.

BYU-San Diego State: I'm taking BYU giving 3 for $500. BYU has been in some real stinkers this year, but when you're talking about a FG only, that's enough of a benefit in a game they should win.

East Carolina - Louisiana Lafayette. I'm taking the Pirates getting 5 anad a half for $500. I think that you go with the Pirates here, and the spread is right.

Washington - Boise State: I'm wagering $1500 here, so I have to take Boise State giving 8 and a half. Yes, this is always a risky bet, and doubly so because Boise hasn't been, well, Boise-like this year.. so why am I moving the line three points and upping my wager? I watched some of U-Dub's Apple Cup Stinkeroo with Washington State. They don't deserve to be here.

Well, since this is only me so far, I'll just track it.

Arizona managed to pull off a crazy come from behind win 49-48. Great game, but Arizona failed to cover

Wager: Arizona (-10)
Game Result: Arizona 49-48
Wager Result: LOSS
Down $750

BYU 14 12-16-2012 09:03 AM

I'll give it a go

BYU (-3)-San Diego State - This comes with a big if depending on who BYU starts at QB. Starting Lark will open up the running game IMO and the defense should do the rest since SDSU likes to run and BYU has been solid there, minus the ND game. Still probably more of a bet with my heart, than my head. $750

Ball State - Central Florida (-8) - The MAC plays some very exciting Football and put a bunch of teams in bowl games, getting the Cards +8 is too good to pass up - $500

Washington - Boise State (-5.5) - Chris Peterson prepares his team for bowls better than probably any coach in the country and I see this being a tight game due to Boise's offensive struggles. I say they win but don't cover $1000

Teaser
Lets take a 3 team teaser selecting Ball State +14, BYU +3 and Washington +11.5 for $500 as well

Here's the lines for the Christmas Week Games (Note: In a couple cases, there was no line at the casino we're using, so I had to use one of the other casinos)

Southern Methodist University-Fresno State (-12.5) (Over/Under 59)
Central Michigam-Western Kentucky (-5.5) (O/U 58.5)
Bowling Green-San Jose State (-7) (O/U 46.5)
Cincinatti (-7.5)-Duke (O/U 60)
Baylor-UCLA (-1) (O/U 80.5)
Ohio-Louisiana Monroe (-7) (O/U 61)
Rutgers - Virginia Tech (-2) (O/U 41)
Minnesota-Texas Tech (-13) (O/U 57)
Air Force (-1) - Rice (O/U 61)
Navy - Arizona State (-14.5) (O/U 56)
West Virginia (-4) - Syracuse (O/U 74)
Oregon State (-2) - Texas (O/U 57)
Texas Christian - Michigan State (-2.5) (O/U 40)

SirFozzie 12-19-2012 02:40 AM

My bets:

Baylor-UCLA: UNDER 80.5. This is a crazy high over/under. I know that bowl games are usually a little weaker on defense then most, but asking both teams to score 40 (which is what a -1 line with an 80.5 O/U) is asking.. I'll probably have egg on my face but, that's just too high a number for me ($500)

Virginia Tech (Giving 2) vs Rutgers: Not a great year for Va Tech, but I think that they have a pretty good chance of covering here. Any time you have a favorite by less then a FG that you think will win, you gotta go after it. ($500)

Rice (Getting 1) vs Air Force : This is more of an instinct bet then anything, but I think Rice wins this one. ($250)

West Virginia (giving 4, going to Giving 7) vs Syracuse[/b]: Wow, the Mountaineers had a stinkeroo of a a second half. And with their defense, betting big is like playing Russian Roulette, with all the chambers loaded with rock salt. Painful. But I think that they're too good offensively, and the weeks of practice they've had between the end of the season and now will help ($1500 - BIG BET, Moves line 3 points)

TCU-Michigan State (OVER 40): These teams are not offensively inclined. That's probably a surprise to no one, but just like 80 was an eyepopping O/U, 40, in the silly season that is bowl games? Seems a bit low to me ($500)

One last bump before the bowl games return tonight.
