That pass interference against Washington State is exactly why college should adopt the NFL rule (spot of foul).
Iowa up, 7-3, entering the fourth quarter against Iowa State. Certainly an offensive explosion for the Hawkeyes. Nary a single safety in that total of seven points. |

Both were serviceable and gritted out everything they could, but they were not top 30 QBs in terms of talent. Neither could throw a consistent accurate long ball, so teams never had to worry about that and could stack the line and defend the short / middle passing without worry of something going over the top. |
Nom nom nom nom nom
|
Appalachian State just got called for roughing the passer. That's BS.
They are up 17-14 with 6:30 to go. This should be a good finish. |
I didn't review film, so I don't have a great sense of either quarterback, but both had excellent stats in college. Book had some Heisman votes his senior year. They were more than just game managers. Both got low marks for the deep ball. Book added a lot with his feet, which is probably why he was drafted and is hanging on to a clipboard. Coan is a pocket guy, so he didn't have a skill that made him draftable, and might not get a second shot at a roster.
They were 44-7 over the last four years. Granted, they didn't have to play a full conference schedule, but they were a solid team with good quarterback play. Now they're a solid team with a turnover machine at quarterback. |
A&M misses a FG to tie. 17-14 and 3:43 to go.
This is a crazy weekend for upsets and close calls. EDIT: App State just had a nice long run. It's going to happen unless there is a fumble or interception! |
Appalachian State with a long run to put it away!
|
App State is going to win after that big run.
|
Washington State takes down Wisconsin. Great day of football on a schedule that didn't seem so great at the beginning of hte day.
|
And down goes Wisconsin, despite looking like they should have had an easy win.
|
How much is Jimbo getting paid again?
|
Let's see what kind of cajones this Iowa qb has
|
This is glorious. I will take Alabama escaping to watch Jimbo lose.
|
Iowa Boo Birds more like it
|
Hey, at least they won the recruiting crown.
|
Quote:
Not saying it'll happen, but the Hogs may go 4-0 before meeting Alabama. Great post-game interview with the coach. Hope to see them in a bowl game. |
What is Jimbo's buyout amount?
|
Maybe Iowa can get one of Notre Dame's quarterbacks.
|
Notre Dame has a quarterback? :)
|
Tennessee with so many mistakes in the 2nd half. It's amazing they're still ahead.
|
Conspiracy: Alabama looked rough today because their second team defense was sent to College Station and dressed for App State.
|
That was a very Iowa-Iowa State game.
|
Quote:
Well, 150 total yards today, lost 10-7. I'm also skeptical of the statistic - just seems made up to me, but I could be wrong. |
Tennessee- Pitt tied with 2 and change left.

Texas A&M's Jimbo Fisher's contract buyout largest in college history 95.6 million |

Woohoo Sun Belt! |
EKU and Bowling Green are in a 7th OT.
|
This has to be Scott Frost's final game if he loses. Right?
|
The refs from the Texas game flew to Gainesville, I see. This is some terrible officiating.
|
Crap, Gardner-Webb just went ahead in the 4th. Coastal pass defense struggling big time
|
Wolverines start delayed to 9:00 due to lightning spotted around 8:00. It'll be a weird vibe there. People like their noon kickoffs. Poor weather, 51-point favorites, lots of season-ticket holders wouldn't have shown anyway. You just hope no one gets hurt out there.
|
Quote:
Hopefully Neal Brown's as well |
Quote:
Well Coastal went back ahead quickly, then the pass defense finally shows up with 2 INT's by the same player to salt the game away 31-27, whew! still gave up 400 yards passing though. QB McCall goes 22/30 for 308 yds, 3 TD's and 1 INT. Next week: Buffalo who we barely beat last year, comes to town. |

ND fan here and I will say the Irish are a good MAC program talent wise at this point, Not being in a conference is not going to improve their recruiting either. |
Quote:
Is it really talent. Or is it coaching? ND seems to rank decent-high in recruiting. Being a Hog fan and seeing how Petrino won with same (e.g. supposed limited base of) homegrown talent, I'm a believer of more coaching than anything. It may not get you beating the Top 10 but should get you beating the Top 25. |
Quote:
Yeah that is also part of it. |
Congrats KY, good win against Florida.
Hogs vs Missouri State next week. And speaking of Petrino, should be interesting to see how much he shreds our middling secondary next weekend. It should be a relatively easy game (and welcome gimme before A&M and Alabama) but our secondary is easily our weakest spot. I can see the #16 Hogs jumping over #12 Florida and #8 Notre Dame in the polls on Mon. Not sure if #6 Texas A&M will fall that far. Also hoping that BYU beats up on #9 Baylor. |
Very impressed with UK. We had 2 RBs, used a WR on several plays. Defense was impressive but Anthony Richardson was awful.
What a day. If Alabama had lost it would have been a clean sweep for the way I wanted games to go. |
Quote:
I thought Neal Brown would be safe this season, but this has to put him on the hot seat. I actually like him and thought things were headed in the right direction, but I think he’s going to need to steal some wins (can’t go 0-3 vs Oklahoma, OSU, and Baylor after this horrendous loss at home). |
Nice work, Jimbo |
Nebraska trying to lose this.
|
They're going to leave Scott Frost out with the Children of the Corn tonight.
|
Nebraska misses a 52 yarder as time expires.
|
Sun Belt collecting some skins today
|
You know, Im over this. It is ridiculous what KF is doing to his legacy making sure his son has a job.
1st time since 2001 that a B1G team scored 7 or less points in their first 2 games. This is our OCs 6th season. |
Thank goodness for Scott Frost. I am laughing my ass off.
|
In general, the Big Ten not covering itself in glory so far this year.
|
Quote:
They sure are |
A fun exercise would be could you build a better Nebraska team than Scott Frost using just players who are in the transfer portal and free agent coaches... I'm willing to bet the answer is a clear yes. Maybe not at the QB position now the season has started but I still think you'd come out ahead.
Holy crap he really lost to a first year Clay Helton coached Sun Belt team that went 3-9 last year. |
Quote:
Oh yeah BYU! Thanks. The Hogs should move up at least by 3 to #13. Crazy weekend. I do think UGA swaps with AL at #1. |
