It's a fantastic simulation! It's right up the alley for college basketball fans!

Best online league I’ve ever been a part of
|
Coach Firings/Hirings have begun! The craziness begins again with Wacky for WAC added in!
|
I'm a little surprised that there aren't more people loitering around here who wouldn't want to give this a go. It's a damn good time. I know there are quite a few, but there's so many more regulars who could.
|
I’m interested. How do I get started? Haven’t done a deep dive on the site but plan on it tonight.
|
Dola Can I run a Grinnell College offense? :)
|

You can PM skrath here, but I'd go through the application process on the site. JBL | Rules https://jblfl.com/signup.php How many leagues can say they have this many human players with this many actual podcasts? Spotify - Web Player: Music for everyone |

Wisconsin just came open too. You should jump on that |

I filled out the application. I think it still worked even though I just wrote “don’t have one” for the invitation code? If I’m Wisconsin, then I’ll have to go the opposite of Grinnell. Wisconsin and fast pace just aren’t made to be a pair! Big Ten slog ball. No idea how I’ve missed this thread. Haven’t played much for basketball sims since I went to Mac. |

Sent you a PM. Anyone else wants to join, please send me a PM to get started with an invitation code! |
The first phase of recruiting has started and you have 72 hours to get your iniital recruiting done. Subsequent phases will be 48 hours, Don't take all my recruits please :)
|
The 2031 season starts tomorrow! Last chance to get in before the season starts -- you can of course join midseason but it's great to have the full year.
|
Taking a break for a bit to get ready for a move and a baby! Hope to be back in action before too long. Keep us posted!
|
CJBL Tournament Elite 8 games tonight. Now is a great time to join and evaluate your team before the 2032 transfer and recruiting phases start.

Congrats Brit! Babies are the best. What's the time commitment for this league like? I've been intrigued for a long while, but with a 9-month-old of my own, I don't know if I'd be able to keep up. |
With a single CJBL team during the season you can get by with checking box scores and making lineup tweaks as you see fit with just 5-20 minutes a day. The first stages of recruiting probably will take you an hour or so if you are looking at the minimum time commit.
The community is very active and you can get sucked in to as much time as you want. |

It's not that much time once you get the hang of it but the slack gets you deeper into it if you allow/want it to. |

I miss the NCAA 53 league! I think I'm going to have to give this a shot. |

We all miss 53 :banghead: |
I'm shocked that more FOF guys aren't playing. This is straight up, right up the FOF strategy alley. It's all the stuff that we wish our other games had, and it's got the advantage that it runs in a very immersive way. Plus, the advantage that you can't have someone running 100 seasons to see how different things work. The only thing I can compare it to is a mix of FOF, with more variables, and FM without the depth of the player personalities....yet. When Locker Rooms roll out for good, it's gonna be awfully close. I think it's modeled in the game, it's just not available for AD's and GM's yet. You can draw that info out with the incredible depth of stat keeping that's involved. Anyone here with any interest in those games should take a look. It's just another level apart from anything else. And I say this as someone who watches almost no basketball in real life.
|
I emailed the Commish and read through the FAQ / Rules. Getting more and more excited!
Except someone is already running UCSB? This is bullshit :) |
Ironically I left the league. Louisville needs an AD now unless someone has already snapped them up.
|
hey ladies, did the JBL slack channel change or is down? Since late afternoon yesterday, I am unable to connect to JBL slack. Am I the only one? Can one of y'all fine folks PM me the address please? Thanks!
|
I'm on right now. Slack can be "stubborn" about loading at times for me at least. Try reloading the page. You might try looking through the thread here for a link that will work for you
|
Thanks! I had to go into Firefox and remove slack data cookies and restart. Bitch was using 2G
|
Glad you made iy back, right in time for transfers. :)
|
Just a heads up. The first stage of recruiting is about to start and last 72 hours. And you can now clear your recruiting watchlist with the click of a button :)
|
This league is incredible. If you're even remotely curious you should really check it out. I'm barely scratching the surface so far and I love the hell out of it.

Yeah, I had this same issue - pretty sure I was above 3 gigs. |
Hi guys, after a longer than thought timeout after NCAA53 and NCAA2018, I´m starting here too, taking over at Tulsa first.
Nice to see some of the old guys here. Best wishes to all from Hamburg, Germany... Michael |
This is the last multi player sports sim that you will ever play. Great community, great developer, great world. Even if you don't like basketball that much, it's the best thing out there. Nothing for MP GM/AD simulations really even comes close.
|
Nice to see all of you familiar faces. They hype is real. That website is an amazing achievement.
Coming in phase 6 with 5 open scholarships, I am just trying to get any higher end 3 stars I can get. I imagine I will take more advantage of the scouting tools in the future. |

Ditto. The game is just an incredible level of realism and detail, very impressed so far. And yeah, playing catch-up with recruiting is tough. |
Quote:
Welcome! And yes, at this point recruiting is brutal! |
Welcome newcomers! Please stay off my recruits thank you very much. :) At this point, I would be looking at 3-stars who haven't received much (or any) attention and have no schools who have offered a schloarship. The dive deep into 2-stars. as you are more likely to find little touched players.
|
[Hint: sort recruits by no offers for the best look at guys who haven't gotten much attention. ]

Appreciate the help! Im agreeing with this at this point. I was digging more into the recruits on my radar and they really dont fit the philosophy I want to eventually run. I'd like to run a more modern offense while most of my recruits are low post players that cant shoot...   |
Quote:
At this point there is probably a reason for this. I ended up recruiting this C/PF from Spain. He is ranked fairly high(150th) but he is 7 foot and doesnt do much of anything. You would think with a 7 foot 6 wingspan he would block a lot of shots(na). So while he is attainable at this point and probably the highest recruit I can get at this point he seems like a wasted recruit. Strengths Solid on the offensive glass Weaknesses Very little upside Could be a better passer from the post Poor overall offensive awareness Not a prolific or aggressive scorer Game needs more consistency Can sometimes be too passive Doesn't have a high basketball IQ Not overly athletic Struggles to stay engaged in the post And no worries, I wont be upset if one of you come in and snag him from me, lol.... |
One thing to consider is that ratings that are the same for a 5'7" guy and a 7' guy in blocking for example the sim takes height into account behind the scenes (ala FM with jumping/heading). So the big man will be far more effective than Mugsy will.
|
Quote:
Remember to take a look at the offense your head coach has. It will probably be difficult to run an offense that doesn't match your head coach's system. |
Quote:
Positioning and timing matters for blocking as well as their natural blocking ability, but this is mostly typical of low rated big man high school recruits -- big bodies and little else (either that, or they're skilled and undersized). If you have height AND talent you tend to be very highly rated. Keep in mind their ratings are scaled to college, so a guy who dominated in HS may not do as well in college. But yes, what PM said -- by the very fact that they are in the post, they are likely to block more shots as size also matters. Depending on the Philosophy you're running, you may find he works better in your system than whatever system he was playing in High School. As Thomkal said above, don't be scared to dive down a bit. Just because a player is a "2 star", once they are scouted they can actually be really useful players, and their Recruiting Star Rating does not necessarily correspond to their college ability. This is deliberate to allow deep diving and finding some diamonds in the rough. You are behind coming into recruiting half way through, so just see this recruiting period as a chance to get to know the system and come in with experience next recruiting. Definitely save some scholarships and fill the rest of your roster with walk-ons (you can do this my going to My Team > Scholarships > Walk-On Tryouts). |
For new AD's this phase may actually be a good time to "sneak" in and grab some recruits you didn't have much of a chance of starting this late. The way scholarships are set up-hard and soft, many good recruits are back "on the market" because their other 1 or 2 soft offers go back in the pool. (you can only sign 1 of the up to three soft offers, and when one does the other 1 or 2 become more available to all other AD's. Certainly worth revisiting recruits that you didn't think you had much of a chance of before.

Appreciate all of this great information.
I landed the guy from Spain #147 overall. We shall see how it pans out. Ill have 3 more open scholarships next year so I did want to try to use this recruiting period to bring in some rotation players(which I feel like Im getting). The starting lineup isnt so bad so we a bit of depth they could surprise. Where I feel I messed up is. Its looking very promising that Ill bring in 3 C/PF's where as that is a situation I didnt need as much as some guards. I have 1 senior shooting guard on my team and 1 junior point guard. I am recruiting a PG and SF with my other 2 scholarships because I rushed and just started making offers before really knowing what I was trying to accomplish. Now I am hesitant to pull an offer from a C/PF since I am #1 on their list in order to offer a SG. Ill have plenty of depth hopefully and just maybe I can luck out and bring in a higher rated shooting guard next season. Anyway, lots of fun. |
So another season is about to start-so check to see who you are playing in tournaments next season, see who graduated/get ready for transfers, coaching changes and more. Commish often uses this time to make changes to the game, so also a good time to check in. And in case you are wondering no Grand Canyon or Coastal Carolina did not win their national tournaments, but Coastal at least lost to the JIT Champ (by just 3 points!)

I released my out of contract coach. Now I cant figure out how to hire one. I dont see an offer contract screen under Coach Signing. Maybe it is too early to try to hire a coach? Is it just me or is the website a bit laggy? Love all the information but it sure isnt very snappy(at least from my POV) |

Coach hiring hasn't started yet, but the screen where you will be able to sign them from can be navigated to from League > Coaches > then there is a message at the top linking to the Coach Signing page. Re: the lag, runs like a dream for me when all the Yanks are asleep! :D |
Yep he hasn't started the coaches phase yet, should be sometime this week
