CL Best Fielders for 2207 Selected
Friday, October 30th, 2207 Great glovemen can range far and wide to make a backhand stop or an over-the-shoulder catch -- and the best usually make it look easy. Today the winners of the Continental League Best Fielder Awards for 2207 were announced. CL Rookie Trophy to Leduc's First Baseman
Saturday, October 31st, 2207 The Continental League's Benny Myers Rookie of the Year Award winner for 2207 is José Gonzáles, the 25-year-old first baseman for the Leduc Bullets. He won the award by hitting .261 and collecting 175 hits, 31 home runs, 109 RBIs and 30 walks with 78 runs scored and a .295 on-base percentage. Best Rookie Trophy Presented to Vélez Saturday, October 31st, 2207 The brightest new star in the Republic League has been named. The 2207 Benny Myers Rookie of the Year Award has been handed out to Hartford's shortstop Alfonso Vélez, who outshined all his first-year peers in the balloting and on the diamond. He hit .314 for the Hartford Riverhawks, racking up 190 hits, 4 home runs, 73 RBIs, and 80 runs scored to capture the trophy. |
CL's Best Pitcher is Cowan
Monday, November 2nd, 2207 The Apex clubhouse staff referred to him as "the kid" this season. Next year Josh Cowan will have to have a new nickname. He earned it after winning the 2207 Continental League Gabriel Prado Award. Cowan made 31 starts this year, winning 18 and losing 5. He threw 213.2 innings, fanned 202, allowed 157 hits and 21 walks, while holding opposing teams to a .203 average as he logged an impressive 1.90 ERA. Tremblay Selected RL's Top Pitcher Monday, November 2nd, 2207 The Gabriel Prado Award for 2207 has been presented and the Republic League winner is Noah Tremblay of Tokyo. "It's always nice to receive an award like this," said Tremblay. "I just hope I can improve on my performance next year and be in the running again," the Catfish star told reporters. Tremblay excelled with an impressive 18-8 record in 39 starts. In 252 innings he yielded 214 hits and 27 walks, while striking out 211 and compiling a fine 2.07 ERA. |
2207 Premier Batter Picked By CL
Tuesday, November 3rd, 2207 The top batter in the Continental League in 2207 was Baltimore left fielder Ramón Hernández. Today he was named the winner of the Hideaki Tanaka Award. Hernández starred this season with a .367 batting average, 242 hits, 36 home runs, 115 RBIs, .436 OBP and 129 runs scored. Manuel Rodríguez Nabs Best Bat Trophy Tuesday, November 3rd, 2207 Manuel Rodríguez was hitting on all cylinders in 2207, making Toronto a very happy organization. He put up some solid numbers this year and was awarded the Republic League's Hideaki Tanaka Award today. The first baseman piled up 196 hits, 31 doubles, 2 triples, 30 home runs and 96 RBI on the way to crafting a .322 batting average. |
