I don't have a wife (or husband), but I have no idea what to buy my sister...

My dad got my mom tickets to Cirque du Soleil in B'more with some tapas package. My mom got my dad a Wii + Wii Fit.

OMG my sister and I both have these, they are AWESOME. My mom wouldn't let me get one for my dad because she thought he'd NEVER leave the couch. ;)

DAng, I just checked on QVC and there's a 45 day waiting list grrr.... :rant: I wanted to get it for my sister-in-law cuz she wanted the Snuggie and found out the slanket is better quality. Darn. It's $15.00 more expensive if I get it thru theslanket.com. The guy that invented it is thinking about making some with sports logos.. man that would be awesome.

One of the gifts I just picked up for my wife: I went to Alibris: Used Books, Used Textbooks, Rare & Out-of-Print Books and searched autographed copies of novels by her favorite writers. She's a voracious reader, but has a dozen or so writers she adores. I'm hoping she digs this.

Hmm.. I'm already got most of my shopping done for my wife, but she is always cold and wants more blankets in the house, so I'm very tempted to pick one up for her.

We're going to be in Ottawa for Xmas so we (mostly me) decided it would be nice to leave the kids with my folks for a night and then take my brother and his wife out for dinner followed by a World Junior Championship hockey game...WOOHOO!!!!!

Damn you. I just wound up buying one for my mom.

Oh well, at least I can scratch her name off my list now. :D

Well. Slanket works, now I need more ideas.

See it depends, are your significant others the girly-girly types? Adventurous? Sports fans? What's your budget look like?

Girly-girly types can get perfumes, a handbag (if you're really thoughtful, put another present in the handbag or heck, something in every pocket), a nice pair of earrings... you catch my drift.

Adventerous or sports minded girls might like scuba diving classes, a mountain bike, maybe take her on a sailing adventure.

If the budget is tight, a handmade present from the kids would be pretty cool. Or have someone draw or paint a picture of a portrait of hers. Ant got that for me one year and I loved it.

maybe a annual membership to her favorite zoo or museum. You could put them in the nifty handbag you get her ;)

Another idea is a gift certificate for a manicure, facial, or massage, and/r pampering supplies.

Tickets to a play if she's into that work, too..

Add me to the list that just bought a slanket for the wife. We went halves on a treadmill and then we were supposed to just buy stocking stuffers,oh well, I think she will love it as she is always complaining about being cold.

I beg to differ. Bought that for my girlfriend awhile back, freak sat on it for almost 2 years and never used it.

Get her a subscription to the Jelly of the Month club. It's the gift that keeps on giving...all year...

Coffee of the month Club is good, too, a lot of places do 'em. Or tea. On that topic, a Keurig coffeemaker for the office isn't a bad idea. Keurig has a filter so you can use your own coffee instead of just the cups/pods they sell. I keep meaning to buy one of these for myself!

We did this for my mom 2 years ago. I consider it a failure. We got her an ipod, she JUST THIS YEAR told me that she hadn't figured out how to change the volume (actually, she said she never realized you couldn't change the volume..)....

I cannot sleep with the lights on period, she can sleep while staring into the freakin' sun. Quite a nice thing if she wants to stay up and read.

My wife got me one of those a few years ago. I found it pretty awkward, and the charge ran down pretty quickly. I stopped using it after a couple of weeks...

I use my booklight all the time. But get one that is plenty bright and plugs into the wall.

My wife's slanket arrived today - it looks very comfortable. Time for me to wrap all of the presents this weekend.

I got my gf tickets to Phantom of the Opera when it comes to Hartford. Third row center for tickets. I'm also planning to get a Slanket, as she gets ridiculously cold in the house.

I have no idea where to find them other than the web.

I don't either. I'm about ready to ask TK what it'll cost to give up her Slanket. :)

I ended up going with the IPOD 8 GB touch...who knows.

Across oceans and cultural boundries let's unite....one slanket at a time.
