Cool, another Ohio team. Looking forward to a good rivalry!

scotto313 10-13-2012 07:05 PM

I am thrilled to be here! The fast pace is going to be a blast.

Is there a default password for the HOF voting?

Gomer 10-13-2012 10:33 PM

Sup Scotto. This league is full of whining sore-loser mercenaries. Oh wait. That's just me.

Welcome!

HerbD is taking over the Winnemucca juggernaut. Herb is another one of those FOOL 1.0 guys who has decided to rejoin us here in SLOP, so we're excited to have him on board!

Young Drachma 10-14-2012 04:05 PM

Ok, so here's the scoop so far:

Hilton Head moves to Cleveland and becomes Cleveland Laborers
Denver moves to St. Louis and becomes St. Louis Aviators
St. Louis and Lake Placid are going to swap leagues for next season.

Finally, I think Winnemucca is either moving (aka, retiring the franchise because I don't want those titles leaving that city) or staying there and getting a new nickname. We shall see.

Lots of change in SLOP, but CHANGE IS GOOD.

HerbD 10-14-2012 06:51 PM

Hello to everyone...glad to be back in fast sim baseball.

We are looking to trade for some cap room this offseason if anyone is interested pm or email is best.

Herb

Young Drachma 10-14-2012 07:13 PM

I'll give a $10m $25m one-year cap exception (that you can use anytime in the next 5 years, provided your club doesn't change hands and the person is still in the league when you use it) to any owner besides me that can successfully recruit someone to SLOP.

We need someone take Lake Placid full-time.

Young Drachma 10-14-2012 07:29 PM

The Winnemucca Choo-Choos will become the Winnemucca Lake Monsters for next year!

Young Drachma 10-14-2012 08:00 PM

I put up a new file for the GMs in Winnemucca and Cleveland, which have the teams changed/renamed and you all in control, too. You should redownload the GMs account file so you can find yourselves in it.

Also for the new guys, if you want to explain some of the quirks of this league, please don't hesitate to post and let me know. I like to say that SLOP has "less than 10 rules, but more than 5" which is kind of how we like things around here, but there are a few exemptions and things that make things more interesting.

So if the rules thread is too opaque in explaining, let me know on the board or via PM.

Tomorrow night, we'll sim to the start of free agency. Meaning if you want to offer extensions to anyone you have on your team now that might become an FA, this is your last chance to do it. On Tuesday night, we'll sim the 1st stage of free agency. Almost no one signs during FA1, it's just a chance for everyone to make bids on guys, it's FA2 when the majority of the big signings happen (and that happens on Wednesday night's sim.)

The deadline is midnight eastern time, unless I post otherwise.

Young Drachma 10-15-2012 09:23 AM

We'll sim to the start of FA tonight, just a reminder to everyone.

Subby 10-15-2012 10:06 AM

Leme make sure I understand this before I release a guy with a $20+ million contract. I thought I read that there are no guaranteed contracts but when I go to release someone to get under the cap it still says his contract will be counted against me. Is this done manually or what am I missing?

Herb

You can release who you want. When I go into the game tonight and download your export, I'll clear the dead space so you're able to make signings unfettered. If you release a guy during the off-season though, you're going to have to alert me, because you'll have the same problem.

Young Drachma 10-15-2012 09:54 PM

QB1 is taking over Lake Placid, which means I don't have to dole out any extra financial incentives to anyone for recruiting. But...should you recruit someone down the road, the incentive is still there.

Young Drachma 10-16-2012 12:54 AM

Ok, here we go.

Young Drachma 10-16-2012 01:16 AM

One of these days, claphamsa will approve deals before he goes to bed. I've got a deal in the works that might negate my interest in sending a 2nd rounder for Matt White...

Young Drachma 10-16-2012 01:32 AM

SLOWSIE.

QB1 10-16-2012 12:39 PM

Ok gonna try this out. No promises that I'll catch on though.

Young Drachma 10-16-2012 12:57 PM

All right, a new file is up for those people who made deals or asked me to make moves for them. (Subby, Doc P)

claphamsa 10-16-2012 01:20 PM

comeon people! send me trades :) I can send cap space with players!!!!

Young Drachma 10-16-2012 02:11 PM

Looks like I need to play SLOP Trade Machine for the rest of you...

Young Drachma 10-17-2012 12:01 AM

You'll be pleased to know that when pre-season starts in January, I will push back the number of minor league seasons a player has until FA from 4 years to 5 years. Seems like a fair compromise as it's better than the 6 we had for ages, but 4 seems like it's just too fast.

Young Drachma 10-17-2012 12:08 AM

Here we go...

No no...that was the night before FA1. Some people released players prior to the start of FA1. FA2 is tonight!

Young Drachma 10-17-2012 05:40 PM

CleBrownsfan is taking over Shem Creek in the form of a (likely) rebranded NL club that will be playing in Cleveland. We went from zero clubs in Cleveland to two in one off-season. Unless he decides to put them elsewhere.

He's an experienced fast-sim guy, so we're happy he decided to join the SLOP.

claphamsa 10-17-2012 06:21 PM

Cleveland sucks

Young Drachma 10-17-2012 11:12 PM

Starting this year, home field advantage in the post-season will return to the team with the best record. The all-star game experiment is over.

Also, the Elimination Series will now be a best-of-seven game tilt. This increases the reward for winning the league's regular season title by making the wild cards play a bit longer in theory.

Young Drachma 10-17-2012 11:15 PM

Here are the signings:

San Diego Fathers: Signed free agent MR Jimmy Rybarczyk to a 3-year contract worth a total of $31,800,000.
Sunday, November 25th, 1860
San Diego Fathers: Signed MR Javier Macías to a 1-year contract extension worth a total of $1,690,000.

I love AL Cleveland's one-year money truck deal to Ridgeway. Very creative to get him in the fold. Lots of teams active on this one. Here's the December transactions.

Young Drachma 10-17-2012 11:20 PM

There are still some talented guys out there on the FA market for FA3, lots of them available for much cheaper than they wanted the past two days. Beau Fisher still thinks he's worth $20m a year, but he only asks for 3 years now rather than that long term deal I think he wanted before. We'll see how that goes for him and whether anyone bites.

A good number of middle of the road hurlers available too. So it should be an unusually vibrant 3rd day heading into the start of spring training tomorrow night.

New guys: The export deadline is midnight eastern (or 11:59pm whatever) and tomorrow's sim will sim to the start of spring training. Then on Friday, we sim ST and then the season starts on Monday night with the 1st half sim.

File processing now. Will note when it's up.

Young Drachma 10-17-2012 11:27 PM

File is up. FA3/sim to ST tomorrow night.

Young Drachma 10-17-2012 11:44 PM

With no one making drastic moves this off-season outside of that crazy guy in St. Louis, this next season is poised to be another year full of parity in both leagues. Should be very interesting.

Young Drachma 10-18-2012 08:35 AM

HTML is updating now. Check it in like an hour.

TurnerONU22 10-18-2012 01:29 PM
