1869 (Season 32) Season Thread
So we'll do the 1st set of the season on Monday (March-May) but just note that it'll be probably be later that evening because I'll be flying back late that night and so, I won't get to it until I get home.
Schedule ----- 1st set (March-May) Monday 2nd set (June-July) Tuesday Wednesday off-day * trade deadline sim 3rd set (August-September) Thursday Playoffs - Friday |
Here's a link to the '69 Financials. For the first time in ages, no one is over $100m in payroll. Seems the era of big spending might be over.
|
Then:
Now: Eusebio Salavisa was designated as San Diego's FRANCHISE player nineteen seasons ago after his 5th season in SLOP. He's still going strong at nearly at 45 and he'll become the oldest player in SLOP history. Ed Saunders was 44 when he came back during the '63 season to play eight games for the Carolina Kings en route to his SLOP record 800th career home run, but Salavisa is an everyday player and barring some meltdown or Las Vegas's desire to let him go, he'll play past 45, making him the first guy to do that in this league too. Pretty crazy stuff. Easily the best FRANCHISE player to ever lace 'em up and in this case, has been a bridge for this club from its origins in San Diego to its days now in Las Vegas. |
CPR rule is dead. Playoffs effective now are Top 3 in each league regardless of division. In the off-chance a team is a Division Champ non-qualifier, they'll get a small piece of the playoff pool (this happened in MLB for 2nd place teams that didn't qualify for the wild card up until last year with the 2nd wild card) but that's it.
I never liked the CPR solution, but it was always a test case and after testing it for few years and soliciting some owner feedback, it seems a consistent rule was better for the league. Since we play a balanced schedule anyway with no inter-league anymore, the divisions are most cosmetic and this just ensures the best teams get into the post-season. |
Salavisa's age is certainly impressive, but the ability to still produce and how consistent he's been over the years is what's truly remarkable.
|
Elimination Series is going to be best-of-seven.

Does this reflect this season's cap? It has the projected 1870 cap, but where's the 1869. |
Here's each team's salary cap for this year:
Code:
$107,642,878 St. Louis Aviators |
With the $25m change from Washington to Vegas, Washington's revised cap is $79,548,356 and Las Vegas revised cap figure is $129,666,332.

Ah,crap.
|
Tomorrow we'll sim June and July. File is up.
|
Well, at least I know why I'm in last place. I must not have exported...crap.
|
Quote:
I did get an export from you, because I looked but mayhaps it wasn't your most recent edition that you meant to send up. But that export didn't have a hole in it for MacAulay. I just put whoever he was over your initial starting guy. |
yeah, i must not have done the most recent. It's all good, plenty of time left.
|
Holy shit, DC!
Did you ratchet up the offense settings this year?!? Must be the 'roids era of SLOP. |
Quote:
for realz! my team BA is 307... and thats 8th in the NL! LAs is 358.... well probably have multiple players hit over 400 this year! |
where did all the walks & strikeouts go?
|
Mde the mistake of not letting the game auto control league totals. I fixed it last night thanks to the minors having the right levels but yeah...it'll just be a Roidy year thanks to the first few months.
|
|
So Online_Kevin is taking over the club formerly known as San Diego/Joplin and currently residing in Minnesota (hello nice uniforms). He's a longtime owner over at FOOL and understands the fast-sim game well.
Welcome him. |
Struggle to believe that my entire pitching staff only struck out 58 batters in 64 games? Less than one batter a game, total! I know we're pretty crap but this stinks .....
I don't mind losing, you build to develop & I've got a good pitching crew moving from Rookie to A-ball this year but come on! 58 K's? |
Quote:
It's not just you. It's the way the game generated league totals this year and didn't adapt them. Everyone is having those problems, but I fixed the league totals and so, we'll see things normal for the rest of the year. |
Almost party time

ok so gonna prep the file now. We'll take tomorrow off for trades and such alike. We'll sim the final two months of the season on Thursday night and post-season on Friday.
|
If Lake Tahoe had any sliver of offense, they'd be killing. Top pitching, just can't hit worth a damn.
|
File is up.
|
Bad, bad season for the Aces.
|
Draft pick tracker is updated in case you want to see what picks you have for potential deadline deals.
For the new folk(s), we do our draft a year behind because it's done at the end of the season. Draft order is based on the lottery for non-playoff teams, playoff teams get in based on finish, then record. |
We'll sim to the end of the regular season tonight!
|
Grand Rapids doesn't have a pick in the first 3 rounds of the upcoming draft? Hell yeah!!
|
Quote:
I owe your team an incentive payment for joining the league though. I dangle them when I want a team filled and to try to keep folks around and rather than making you wait 3 seasons for it, we'll give it to you now. I won't know the amount until I go into the spreadsheet, though, because it's just a % of gate revenue (of 19 teams, not yours) that I'm going to take as a tax. |
Assuming Grand Rapids = Minnesota?
|
Quote:
Grand Rapids = Minnesota = Joplin = San Diego 2.0 I would've closed them up and created a new franchise, but each owner joined after the pre-season so I never had a chance. |
A new file is up with the trades processed.
|
Any exports that were on the server, I imported before I processed these deals.
|
A.J. Hoogland is hitting .404 with about 6 weeks left in the season. Will he be the first in SLOP history to hit .400?!
|
CArlos Palacios is hitting 315 with 16 steals on 18 trys.... yet is -1.9 WAR... only in SLOP :)
|
Yeah because that .315 is really inflationary .235 ;) Plus he plays for the worst team in baseball right now.
|
If you made a trade that involved a player tonight, you MUST submit another export tonight and everything will be screwed up and it takes more time to fix because the game can be dumb about these things. Just a reminder/FYI.

The moment we've been waiting for all day. Let's do it.
