Widespread Tennis Match Fixing?
|
Certainly seems like the sport most suspect to match fixing given that it's individual and you can drop a set and still win. Although if they're saying Grand Slam winners without naming names it's probably some doubles player who's pretty low on the totem pole in the scheme of things.

This, plus it's really common for a player to get injured for a set or two and then make a miraculous comeback. Basically, this is the least surprising news ever |
Not good news on the eve of the Australian Open. Without names and specific matches involved however it seems like there is little they can do about it. Especially if the investigation unit created for this crime appears to be ineffective at its job.

As I said on FB, there is a ridiculous disparity in incomes for tennis players outside of the top handful of stars, and it's getting worse rather than better. Not surprising at all that the sport would find itself a big target for match fixers.
