[POLL] When is Thanksgiving dinner?

I've had occasion to think about this a couple times today, and am curious where the consensus is... when does the meal begin?

Suicane75 11-27-2014 03:57 PM

The plan is 1pm, but there's so much shit to do it's much closer to 2pm by the time the proper sit down and eat, begins.

Didn't see an option for the night before.

I voted 1 as thats the time we eat...but 12 would feel much more "right" its just with travel time for all the folks coming in it never works out.

The eating started with apps at 2pm. Formal sit down meal at 4pm. The last food was consumed around 12:30am this morning.

We'd prefer noon (we are hosting, and have been hosting the past few years), but the younger son's naptime is roughly 1 to 3, so 4:00 works better for now.

Definitely prefer earlier rather than later so cleanup isn't as long into the night (bigger deal with kids and not being able to sleep in the next day).

Technology is really taking over, we now have apps for Thanksgiving dinner...

:D

Differs. Was 2 PM this year but it depends on our plans and if anyone is coning to dinner. Usually go for 1 PM. Early means the evening meal will be the first round of leftovers.

Noon since my brother and has wife have dinner with her family.

The following day. Seriously.

We've been going to the in-laws house the last 15 years for Thanksgiving since my family was too far away. Except my M-I-L can't cook worth a damn. Everything is horrendously overcooked, the only spices used are salt + pepper and generally the overall meal is pretty bland. Between that and the lousy company, I hate going to their house for Thanksgiving.

I bitched about it for about 10 years and then realized there was another way out. I made a deal with my wife who has turned into a very good cook. I'd go to her Mom's house to eat that lousy food on Thanksgiving and never say a bad word. But the next day my wife has to do a mini-Thanksgiving dinner, complete with turkey (rosemary basted!), dressing, potatoes and pumpkin pie. So my real Thanksgiving dinner takes place about Friday at 1:00 PM.

Depends upon when the Cowboys are playing. If they're playing the 3:30 game, then it's a noon-ish meal. If they're playing the Noon game then it'll usually be an early dinner.

Have the Cowboys ever played the noon game?

I just ask, because I can't recall the Lions ever starting a Thanksgiving game later than 12:30. It certainly could be the case, but I just don't remember any.

BillJasper 12-02-2014 11:40 AM

Noon-ish.

Traditionally it was about 3 pm when my parents were alive. Since their passing, and I've had to rely on other people's families, it's usually been around 4, this year it was closer to 5

Honolulu_Blue 12-02-2014 12:10 PM

I would say around 4:30 or so.
