1982 FOOL Offseason Thread!

The other thread had lived its purpose. Lets get excited about the offseason!

Tonight's fun fact. Masazumi "Slider" Sanu throws three pitches and none of them are a Slider. He throws a Fastball, a Splitter and a Changeup.

Pike 10-27-2008 08:35 PM

Are we running a 9:00 CST tonite? Having a brain fart here. LOL

Pumped about this offseason!

Yep! 24 minutes

Pike 10-27-2008 08:40 PM

Is there any way I could request a 15 minute stay or so?

My little girl (8 weeks old) is a little cranky tonight, and I haven't been able to really get down to business as I'd like to.

If we can't, I understand! :)

If you need extra time, then that is fine. Just say when you're done.

Pike 10-27-2008 08:45 PM

Wilco, thanks Alan. I'm on it as we speak.

QUIT TALKING ABOUT HIM SOMEONE ELSE MAY NOTICE HIM!!!!11!!1!!!!!!

Any yes, its funny he doesn't throw a slider, but has that nickname. Maybe its more of a wishlist than a nickname?

seriously we all need to be aware of my MLC here ;)

Tasan 10-27-2008 08:55 PM

I think we should have a thread where everyone who bid on "Slider" posts what they bid. It would be funny to laugh at all the outrageous bids he's gonna get.

Pike 10-27-2008 08:59 PM

I need another 10-15 minutes, prolly just 10

thanks for holding!

Ramzavail 10-27-2008 09:01 PM

me too :)

Is this me too that you need more time? Just making sure I know who I'm waiting for and don't run before someone is ready.

Tasan 10-27-2008 09:02 PM

Ditto on the time. 9:10 should be good for me.

Tasan 10-27-2008 09:03 PM

err, 10:10 for all the east coast wonks. 7:10 for those on pacific time. MT can go screw yourselves.

The Tattler is available in all metro areas serviced by a FOOL major league franchise.

Tasan 10-27-2008 09:10 PM

Ready

Pike 10-27-2008 09:11 PM

Ramzavail 10-27-2008 09:12 PM

TimGuru 10-27-2008 09:16 PM

Dude, I promise you, Slider won't take "a half stake in the Tattler". It just won't work.

Puh-lease. Baseball is a hobby. The Tattler is my life. I would never give any ownership stake in the Tat to these louts. Half stake, pfffft. 48% max.

Pike 10-27-2008 09:21 PM

and the Black Sox are ex-ported,

thanks again for the wait!

Alan T 10-27-2008 09:22 PM

Ok, grabbing the exports now. Good luck all!

Pike 10-27-2008 09:23 PM

well, after you guys see what I have done.....I may be more unpopular than Mr. Violator.

Definitely went against my usual plan, but we all know what a talent this SP is. If it works out, I will have a cornerstone to my franchise for the next 10 years. It if doesn't, I think I have limited my exposure fairly well.

Still, I can't shake that I might not get him......

Tasan 10-27-2008 09:24 PM

Let the bidding war commence.

Tasan 10-27-2008 09:24 PM

How many days get run right now?

TimGuru 10-27-2008 09:25 PM

82 million, 8 years, VERY front loaded. And you?

Alan T 10-27-2008 09:25 PM

Thats not gonna come close.

*edit Not trying to sound like a prick here either, sorry about the possible perceived tone.

muns 10-27-2008 09:29 PM

that war should be interesting

Alan T 10-27-2008 09:29 PM

I remember a similar war for Artie Wiley. He ended up not taking the highest 2 or 3 offers and settling for a much smaller offer.

Well that could make it headache inducing for someone.

Pike 10-27-2008 09:31 PM

Well he gets 20 in the first year, so that's my only hope.

Pike 10-27-2008 09:32 PM

Seriously, I offered ELEVEN million over a few season to Birkbeck to sit in my minors for at least a year, and he takes an MLC?

TimGuru 10-27-2008 09:37 PM

We really need someone running the AI team so we can have some hope of prying talent out of there in trade.

Was an "issue" that we found with several players that we think Markus ninja fixed in the last patch. Markus's comment regarding fixing players that have sudden rating dropings mid season without injuries involved we think was this issue.

My hypothesis on this was the player's ability got so high it somehow wrapped to the bottom again on one side. We've seen about a dozen players with similar issue.

We have not seen any happen though since the patch so hope/think it is fixed.

We discovered this back in the early 60's. This is why we went to a draft instead of just offering contracts to newly created players.
