Werewolf CXXIX - Doctor Who and his Trusty Yak - WOLVES WIN
Two Sides. One goal. Save the universe, or rule it. Or destroy it. Or turn it into sentient space goo. Or ensure that space yaks rule the world. Oh hell, you get the idea.
Fighting across time and space, the Doctor must find and eliminate some of the most fearsome enemies he has ever faced. Unfortunately, the universe is a big, big place, and time is short. Every moment he wastes trying to find his enemies will result in more innocent blood being shed. At its base level, this is straightfoward game, albeit with a lot of roles and abilities, some hidden, some not. 8pm Central Time lynch deadline. There is a secret provision in the event of a tie. 8pm Central Time time travel deadline. More on this below. 9pm Central Time night action deadline. FAIR WARNING: Coffee Warbaby sets his own schedule. If I'm late on posting results, I apologize in advance. TIME TRAVEL This is the weird part. In addition to voting on the lynch of the day, you are also to vote on where you wish to travel. There are 5 eras to choose from: ANCIENT MEDIEVAL INDUSTRIAL MODERN FUTURE Some roles only function during certain eras, and some bad guys gain additional abilities during certain eras (and also may only use some of their powers during certain eras) When voting for a time travel era, you vote basically the exact same way you would vote a lynch candidate. Note the change in verbage from 'vote' to 'time', just to make it easier for me to tabulate. Aka: Quote:
You will be notified what Era the Day portion of the game starts in at the same time night actions are processed. Time travel occurs LAST in the order of events during the night. So if your powers are era-specific, right now, and for night 1, it'd be the Modern Era people that may use their abilities. The move to the (currently likely) Industrial Era would occur after all other night actions process, and Day 2 would begin in the Industrial. Aside from that, the standard victory conditions for each side applies. Kill all the Bad Guys if you're good, or achieve a 1:1 ratio if you're bad. The Doctor and His Entourage --- The Doctor The last of the Time Lords, the Oncoming Storm, the lonely god. Jumping across the universe through both space and time, the Doctor is always there, and even occaisonally on time, to fight back against those who would try and destroy the universe. Being a Time Lord, the Doctor does not age, does not die, he regenerates. Any time the Doctor is killed, he immediately regenerates into a new player. He will never regenerate into a "wolf" player, nor will he regenerate into certain roled "good" players. The Doctor's powers will only be removed from play if he is killed and no valid player remains for him to regenerate into. The Doctor's actual abilities are unknown. Example: Lathum is the Doctor, and is night killed. I know how strange this sounds, since Lathum is always a wolf, but bear with me. Lathum would be out of the game, but his role as the Doctor would immediately transfer to a new randomly chosen player. The new Doctor loses whatever abilities his original role had, and gains the Doctor's abilities. Captain Jack Harkness Once a Time Agent, a strange series of events left Jack effectively immortal. As such, he has no problems sacrificing himself to save others. Though he cannot die, he can certainly be imprisoned, shuttled off through time and space to live forever with giant space yaks, and otherwise removed. Jack is the bodyguard. He may guard anyone, but his lack of concern for his own safety prevents him from guarding himself. He is not a subtle man, however, and he clashes greatly against the backdrop of Ancient times. As such, his bodyguard power does not work during the Ancient Era. Cap'n Jack may also never become the Doctor. The Doctor's Companion The Doctor loves his nubile young women. Unfortunately, they have a tendency to grow too attached to him, and oftentimes find themselves in grave danger. The Doctor's Companion may never become the Doctor in the event of a regeneration. When the Doctor regenerates, a new random player is chosen as the Doctor's Companion. Unlike the Doctor, the new companion does NOT lose their previous role powers. The Companion, being quite fond of the Doctor, has a chance of sacrificing themself, taking a Bad Guy with them if the Doctor is night killed. Example: Doctor is targeted for night kill. Companion has a random chance to kill the attacker, but will also die (along with the Doctor). Other Human Roles There are several other roles in play, that are era-specific. In english, each player has at least one small ability that is ONLY usuable when they are in their home era. There are 5 major 'other human' roles (1 per era), along with several minor roles. All are contingent on number of signups, and their powers will be detailed upon their death. The Major roles: Warlord (Ancient Era) Count (Medieval Era) (and here's a hint - he ain't a duke, he's a count!) Tycoon (Industrial Era) Scientist (Modern Era) Starship Captain (Future Era) Example: Player is a native of the Medieval period. Player may only use his special ability when in the Medieval Era. Aliens, Monsters, Demons, and Other Crazy Shit --- The Master Okay, so we lied. The Second to Last of the Time Lords, the Doctor's constant nemesis. He is extremely skilled at hiding from the Doctor, and as such, always scans as Human. The Master, being an extremely powerful Time Lord in his own right, has other secret abilities. Dalek Kahn The most clever, and one of the last Daleks in existance. At least until the writers decide to add more. Despite his increased intelligence and ability, he still loves him some extermination. If Dalek Kahn is lynched, he may EXTERMINATE! any player of his choosing upon his death. (He is the Brutal). Dalek Kahn finds it easy to hide in places of high technology, and scans made in the Future Era will show him as Human. Cyber Leader The leader of the fearsome legion of Cybermen, their goal is to 'upgrade' the galaxy into Cybermen. If they get their grubby little metallic hands on an innocent human, they will immediately convert them to the Bad Guy's side. If they attempt to convert the Doctor, the Doctor is instead killed. Cybermen find it easy to hide in modern times, and scans of Cyber Leader will show as Human in the Modern Era. The Yak Horde --- Kidding, kidding. |

Looks like fun. Count me in.
This looks awesome, great idea for the time travel mechanics.
I'm in. |
No Yak Horde makes me waver a bit, but I guess I'm in.
Regeneration, time travel, brutal, cunning, conversion. Crazy. I would absolutely sign up, but since I'm moving this weekend and have no idea when internet will be available, I'm going to have to pass for now. If I find out that I'll definitely have access by early next week I'll get on board.
Sounds very interesting. I am in.
In.
This sounds absolutely nuts. I'm in.
I'll come out of hiding from behind the sofa for this one.
As long as conditional orders are allowed - different lynch/night action deadlines are pretty rough to cope with otherwise. |
Yeah, I have no problems with conditionals, as long as they are either/or. I draw the line at like flowcharts for night actions. :)
A. If Lathum==wolf, go to B, otherwise go to C.
B. Scan Lathum, go to D. C. Loop to A. D. Reveal Lathum is a wolf |
In. So is the doctor starting at cool guy Christopher Eccleston or ancient guy William Hartnell?
Was going to stay out of the next WW game but this looks too fun and interesting to pass up. You'll have to deal with me again, guys!
I should have time for this game. Count me in.

Well ch'yaaa! Tom Baker! :) I wished there would have been a David Tennant/Tom Baker "Two Doctors" kind of episode. :) |
Figuring on a monday morning startup at this point.
Don't know anything about the show but I'll give it a shot.
Monday, oh man. Don't make us wait!
Quote:
I'll kick it off earlier if we nab a few more players, but I'm not sure if starting on like a Friday is a good idea. Or hell, it might be. |
Wait for Monday Coffee. Otherwise the weekend will kill the momentum early in the game.
I'm in, don't know much about the show though.
Nobody needs know anything about the show. I'll have the Doctor singing to flying Lobsters after 4 minutes.

Alas - I also missed out on the Dr Who bandwagon. But who can pass up a chance to time travel? Tyke is in...
Roles will go out Sunday night (or first thing monday morning if I get occupied), Day 1 deadline will be as planned, 8pm CST.
As a side note, the starting Era will be determined by el-randomizer. |
Hopefully by Sunday I'll know when I'll have internet. The damn previous tenant hasn't cancelled his service yet, and he needs to vacate by tomorrow.. which means I can't setup an appt yet.
For the time zone challanged that is 6 PM PST, right?
Correcto senor. I'm 2 hours ahead of you.
So we're looking at a Monday stat up I assume?

*start

Posting without having caught up in the thread yet? Wolf move. VOTE DARTH VILUS |
Deadline.
Darth Vilus dies. He was a yak. |
Just for that Autumn I'm voting your ass
Keep in mind, he only wants your ass...
Don't drop the soap Autumn... |
I'm voting we travel to the medieval period, before they had soap.
My goal is to make CW wish he had started the game already. Keep it coming guys.
Sorry guys, I have a set player limit, and we've already eclipsed that. Unfortunately, someone has to go. Through random pick, that person is...Autumn.
And now we can start! :D |
Damn that random.org.
Though it did pick Mckerney for a random kill the other game, so I guess I can't be too grumpy. |
Quote:
are you serious about this...i was still pondering.... |

pretty sure he was not serious |
