The Rules
- Each Sim will be one "weak" of game play which will be 2 simmed games per team. - Owners may submit their lineups prior to each sim. - No trades. - No additional signings. |
The Schedule
NOTE I'll fill in the actual dates once I see how I can get it to fit into my upcoming schedule. The first week won't be any earlier than Thursday to give everyone time to get lineups in. Still trying to come up with a way to "live stream" a game. May just create a "game of the week" thread in dynasty forum and just post it in the thread per at bat. Week 1 - Sim: 8/29 (6:00 PM EST lineups deadline) San Fernando @ New York - Game of the Week Big Inning @ Tallahassee Indianapolis @ Baltimore Stamford @ Canton Willow City @ Otisburg New York @ Big Inning Canton @ Indianapolis San Fernando @ Stamford Otisburg @ Baltimore Tallahassee @ Willow City Week 2 - sim 9/2 (6:00 PM EST lineups due) Baltimore @ Canton Big Inning @ Stamford - Game of the Week 8:00 PM EST Willow City @ New York Indianapolis @ San Fernando Tallahassee @ Otisburg San Fernando @ Baltimore Otisburg @ Canton Big Inning @ Indianapolis New York @ Tallahassee Stamford @ Willow City Week 3 - sim 9/4 (6:00 PM lineup deadline) Willow City @ Indianapolis - Game of the Week New York @ Otisburg Tallahassee @ Stamford Baltimore @ Big Inning Canton @ San Fernando Stamford @ New York Big Inning @ Canton Indianapolis @ Tallahassee Willow City @ Baltimore Otisburg @ San Fernando Week 4 - sim 9/6 (6:00 PM EST lineups due) San Fernando @ Big Inning New York @ indianapolis Canton @ Willow City Stamford @ Otisburg Tallahassee @ Baltimore - Game of the Week Tallahassee @ Canton Indianapolis @ Stamford Baltimore @ New York Otisburg @ Big Inning Willow City @ San Fernando Week 5 - sim 9/10 (lineups due 6:00 PM EST) San Fernando @ Tallahassee Indianaplois @ Otisburg New York @ Canton - Game of the Week (8:00 PM) Stamford @ Baltimore Big Inning @ Willow City Baltimore @ indianapolis Canton @ Stamford Tallahassee @ Big Inning Otisburg @ Willow City New York @ San Fernando Week 6 - sim 9/14 (lineups due 6:00 PM EST) Indianapolis @ Canton Baltimore @ Otisburg - Game of the Week 9:00 PM EST Stamford @ San Fernando Big Inning @ New York Willow City @ Tallahassee New York @ Willow City Otisburg @ Tallahassee San Fernando @ Indianapolis Canton @ Baltimore Stamford @ Big Inning Week 7 - 9/17 6:00 PM EST lineups due Baltimore @ San Fernando Willow City @ Stamford Tallahassee @ New York - Game of the Week 9:00 PM EST Indianapolis @ Big Inning Canton @ Otisburg Indianapolis @ Willow City Otisburg New York San Fernando @ Canton Stamford @ Tallahassee Big Inning @ Baltmore Week 8 - simmed 9/23 Canton @ Big Inning Tallahassee @ Indianapolis New York @ Stamford Baltimore @ Willow City San Fernando @ Otisburg Willow City @ Canton Otisburg @ Stamford Indianapolis @ New York Baltimore Tallahassee Big Inning @ San Fernando Week 9 - sim 9/25 Stamford @ indianapolis Canton @ Tallahassee New York @ Baltimore San Fernando @ Willow City Big Inning @ Otisburg Otisburg @ Indianapolis Baltimore @ Stamford Canton @ New York Willow City @ Big Inning Tallahassee @ San Fernando |
Preseason Predictions - As Generated by Game
Standings New York 11-7 Stamford 11-7 Baltimore 10-8 Willow City 10-8 Big Inning 9-9 Canton 9-9 San Fernando 9-9 Indianapolis 8-10 Otisburg 8-10 Tallahassee 8-10 |
I know the format of the league screws with the game for those predictions. Example: It has Pedro Martinez and forecast for 17 games. It also has Scherzer listed as one of the top 10 projected pitchers with just 6 games played and a predicted ERA of 5.14.
|
The first week will be simmed on Thursday 8/29. Will fill in more of the schedule prior to that.
Note to All Teams Please have your lineups in by 6:00 PM EST on 8/29 for those games. You can PM them to me. |
Hey EF, for those of us with the game will you be releasing a file that we can use to see our team and help set up our lineups/follow the league as it goes along?
|
Should we just PM you lineups, etc?
|
Can we also just get pm'd the star ratings so we know how they look in game?
|
Quote:
Forget PM'ing them I'd love to see the star ratings for each player perhaps alongside their draft position? I can only imagine mine go miniscule in the middle rounds and then buff back out again late (or never :) ) |
Quote:
Yes, please. And is there a format you want the lineup in? Do you want R/L splits or just a batting order and defensive set up. |
Posted stars with the rosters in this thread. The stars are relative to all players in the league and it looks like it downplays relievers.
Not going to post the league file. Want to keep competition as even as possible so everyone has the same chance. For lineups. As much detail as you would like, if you want to designate depth chart as well that would be fine. For pitchers you can give me stater one, starter two and then what reliever assignments you have (LR, MR, SU, CL). |
You can give me right/left or just one generic lineup. Whichever you feel comfortable with.
|
I am so glad I chose Jacob Degrom lol but 0.5 Cy Young wow.
|
PLAY BALL!!!!
|
Quote:
I can only assume he's horrendously nerfed because he averaged less than a strikeout every three innings and a K/BB of around 1.4, but come on. He managed to keep a WHIP around 1 over 453 innings and 48 complete games and it's in the top 20 all-time in single season WAR FFS. |
DOLA - any chance of a screenshot, even if you PM it to me?
|
My experience stars alone don’t determine performance. It’d be interesting to see ratings at some point.
|
I also wouldn't be hung up on the stars. I don't know how the game determines them overall.
|
Started to enter lineups but have to go deal with some teen drama. My youngest daughter's friend ran away so I am going to go join the search.
|
Any chance I can see game ratings so that I can make my lineups?
Maybe you can export ratings into CSV and attach it to a post here? |
|
Love it!
|
Quote:
Trying to keep it about the players, not turn it into just another OOTP league. :) |
I am honestly super intrigued by this management style. An actual league where you had to GM blind - no ratings whatsoever but just worked off of statistics - would be weird as hell. And maybe amazing.

This is awesome, thanks for running it!
|
The big bats from Big Inning speak loudly. Wheres the pitching?
Are Canton and Indianapolis playing Slow pitch? |
The preseason predictions are hilarious in that they exactly mirror the standings after the first week.
|
Any way to see box scores?

I drafted for defense but it looks like I have a high powered offense lol.

I'm looking for an easy site to post the data to so I can link to it here.
It's a bit crazy at the moment, hopefully I can settle into s oattern. My mom is in the ER, I'll be going to see her shortly. We still have the friend drama going on. My daughter's friend stayed at our house last night. The more I piece together, the more i think her mother just might be insane. |
Sounds like you have your hands full. Hope your mom is ok!
|
Thank you. Okay, my daughter and her friend ended up staying over another friend's house so that cuts down on some of this. My mom has been admitted and they are still doing tests.
She is having some mild dementia from a UTI (I know that seems like an off combination but this has happened before). The nurse was treating it like we had no idea what we were talking about when we told her this is what is doing it. When she is okay she may have a few minor memory issues but nothing like what happens when she gets a UTI and is admitted to the hospital. She sort of lives in her own reality when that is going on; we're lucky so far that this has been a pleasant reality. There have been times in the past where she was paranoid that people were going to kill her and other insane things like that so we are happy when she has a reality that is at least pleasant when going through this. |
I should have time tomorrow afternoon to get back to this. I apologize for the early pause.
|
Odd that the nurse was acting that way; I'm pretty sure the UTI-dementia link is fairly well known. Then again, I've had several family members deal with dementia and my wife is in the medical field, so maybe my perception is skewed from normal.
|
Added the link to the first post.
BNN Home Page It's very basic but it should do the trick for now. Let me know if it works for everyone. |
Quote:
It's the 2nd time we had pushback from a nurse. The next one that came in didn't question it, however. Just found out that she has sepsis which I know can be bad. She seems okay at this moment and they don't seem alarmed so maybe it is mild (if that is a thing). |

Will post the updated site after a few. The universe seems to be against me tonight. The stomach issue mentioned in the GotW thread, my mom seems to be losing her mind a little more tonight and the teenage drama has resurfaced. My daughter's friend is apparently in the hospital in handcuffs. The only story I have heard so far is from her mother but I think she is a little insane to be honest so I don't know what to think. The last thing her mother said was something about having her church pray over her daughter because she is full of evil spirits. That kind lo loses credibility with me.

Updated the online files.

I'm still seeing the results from the first week; is there a different url? |

Sorry you're still dealing with all the stuff :( At least your head feels better? I hope? |

Thanks. The headaches tend to happen in clusters. Hopefully the last cluster is over. Next week starts my run of concerts I'll be going to so I hope they remain away for that. I'll be honest with you. I am seriously wondering if there is anything that we could do to help her friend but I also don't want to overstep our bounds either. |
Quote:
I'll take a look. I thought that I uploaded what was created, let me make sure the local files were all updated correctly. |
Not sure what happened. Taking the local links I see the same. Going to see if it will update if I run the files again. May take a few.
|
My bad. I grabbed the almanac instead of the online reports.
|
Okay, should be better now. Let me know if that worked for you.
|
Thanks EF very nicely run league. By chance are my park setting Yellowstone National Park? :) 0 home runs through 4 games despite one game having 19 runs.
|
All of the one-run games for my team! And New York resorting to small ball to beat us for our only defeat thus far: single, fielders choice, stolen base, score from 2nd on a single to LF with a play at the plate.
Loving this league! |

Week 4 will be Friday or Saturday (have to see what family scheduled look like). Week 5 will most likely be the following Tuesday. Next week marks the start of an insane 3 week stretch where I will be attending 7 (still could be 9) concerts in 21 days. I'll work the scheduling into that and family schedule.
What are the odds I will have hearing after that? It's my "mid life crisis" I guess; my last full month before turning 50 so I wanted to send off the 1st half century with one hell of a party. |
Quote:
I love it. What's the lineup of concerts? |
I know it's only 6 games, but man some of these stats:
Seaver with a 7.04 ERA Alexander with a 5.57 ERA Carlton Fisk is 2-23 for an .087 average. Mr. Padre (your player of the week) is hitting .481. Helton, whom I thought I drafted too early, is hitting .400 and leading the team in RBIs. Everyone on my infield (including Fisk) has exactly 1 home run. Everyone in my outfield (including Mays and Aaron) has exactly 0 home runs. |

I switched Quisenberry into the closer role because Sutter was taking a beating and what happens? Quisenberry takes a beating.
Im frustrated with my bullpen. They have 3 of my 4 loses. |
Im starting to wonder if I should have focused on getting finessed base pitchers since they seem to be doing better in this league.

|
Finally broke the win one , lose one streak.
Not many teams left in the race |
Sunday's sim is going to be make or break for the playoff:
10-4 New York: @ 4-10 Stamford vs. 4-10 Indianapolis Overall Opp. Winning %: .446 Although New York has gotten most of the heavy lifting out of the way in their schedule, they still have Big Inning and Canton lurking in the last week of the season. If they blink against either of the cellar-dwellers, their prime position could quickly change. 10-4 Canton: @ 8-6 Big Inning vs. 9-5 Willow City Overall Opp. Winning %: .607 Despite sitting in the driver's seat, Canton has what is easily the toughest schedule from here on out: in order they face t4th, 3rd, t4th, and t1st. Any slip could open the door... 9-5 Willow City: vs. 7-7 Baltimore @ 10-4 Canton Overall Opp. Winning %: .554 Willow City didn't do themselves any favors by losing both games to New York this season, and they have a pretty tough row to hoe the rest of the way; that being said they control their own destiny with regard to at least getting into a tie for 2nd. 8-6 Big Inning: vs. 10-4 Canton @ 6-8 San Fernando Overall Opp. Winning %: .536 Big Inning may be in the best position of the contenders: they have games against two of the three teams ahead of them, which bookend games against "weaker" competition in Otisburg and San Fernando. Making up two games with four to play is going to be no easy task however you slice it, though. 7-7 Tallahassee: @ 4-10 Indianapolis vs. 7-7 Baltimore Overall Opp. Winning %: .482 7-7 Baltimore: @ 9-5 Willow City @ 7-7 Tallahassee Overall Opp. Winning %: .536 Technically the 7-7 teams aren't eliminated yet; that being said it would take a friggin' miracle for either of them to get there being down three games with four to play and having FOUR teams ahead of each of them in the standings. They face off against one another this week, and the loser is almost assuredly eliminated. 6-8 San Fernando: @ 5-9 Otisburg vs. 8-6 Big Inning Overall Opp. Winning %: .518 See below for the crazy path San Fernando needs to take to get into the conversation for the postseason. |
It turns out San Fernando at 6-8 can actually make it into a tiebreaker situation if they win all four of their games and every one of the following things goes exactly this way:
If that all goes down, we have the following records:

For Baltimore or Tallahassee, I'm going to ignore tiebreakers at 10-8 or 11-7 because there are a ton of combinations and I have no idea what the tiebreakers are. Getting in outright comes down to this:
Since Canton plays every single one of those teams listed above and Willow City and Big Inning play each other, this gets convoluted. The linchpin game here is actually Willow City @ Big Inning; if Willow City wins:
Unfortunately, both games with huge implications (Canton @ New York and Willow City @ Big Inning) happen in week 18. How does this upcoming sim shake out in terms of playoff implications? San Fernando is eliminated with any of the following:
Baltimore or Tallahassee are eliminated with any of the following:
Big Inning is eliminated with:
Willow City is eliminated with:

Sorry, it's been a little crazy. Forgot that I said Sunday. I'll sim and post shortly.

Final week will be simmed Wednesday.
If a one game playoff is required for the wild card that will be Thursday live posted. |
I am way more disappointed than I expected to be with that extra innings loss.
