this is an interesting angle... i have "bought" maybe 6-8 of these free games, just entering in the free transaction, confirming the purchase, and closing out

in the event I ever actually open up Epic and decide whether to use it, I will have an intriguing battery of semi-old full games already purchased but never installed... not an awful carrot to use to induce me some day, I suppose

Yeah, and they have offered enough "good" games like Civ 6 to make you want to use their launcher rather than Steam. The problem for me is that half the time the launcher fails to work correctly and load so you can play the games, and it takes much longer to download updates.

Right. I'm not gonna use it or anything, but in theory they got me to install their craptraption, so that's worth something I presume.

Heh, now Steam has Elite Dangerous now 75% on Steam. Sorry Steam, last I looked, free beats 75% off. It's 7.50 there though if you don't want to go the Epic route

Humble Bundle has it for sale as well.

Heard there were some issues with getting the Epic version working with the ED servers, but I'm sure that will be ironed out.

I just recently got into Elite Dangerous. I really enjoy playing. I play on a private server with several friends so I don't have to worry about open world gankers that ruined Eve Online for me.

Pillars of Eternity and Tyranny next week? That is going to be an amazing week for RPG fans.

Man that is a great lineup. I have Pillars already, but have only played Tyranny on a free weekend, Cool!

These games are now available. Good news is that the Pillars version contains both White March DLC's and other extras. Tyranny has a DLC and extras too.

The white march DLC is terrific and is better than the base game imo.

Tyranny is underrated if you're willing to be an evil asshole. If you try to play it as the good guy it's just OK.

Apparently they're doing mystery game unlocks as well; there's a freebie unlocking in just about six hours.

Yep 6 days. Clicking on the package brings you to a new page where they are announcing their Holiday Sale starting in 6 days. In addition to the sale, each day for 15 days, a new free game will be available, and only claimable on the day its offered. They had some pretty good stuff last year, surprised they didn't hold the two RPGs until then.

That either means this year is gonna be a letdown, or they're releasing those early because this year's is gonna be fire.

There's a leaked list going around, supposedly. Gonna wait to see what tomorrow holds before I post it here. If the first games match up...then we'll see.

Yeah, I saw the leaked list on another site and it definitely looked too good to be true. It looked more like someone's wish list than a realistic set of free games.

That's a good choice, Surviving the Aftermath was on sale and barely qualified for the coupon, so got it for $5.

The original was great, for OG Xbox, IIRC.i think this is remastered.

The second leaked list is 4-4 so far, but we've reached the first game on it I have no interest in. Tower defense can DIAF.

Yeah, I've spent many hours on this and the sequel. It's a good "beer strategy" game.

Zero interest in tower defense as a genre. I've played a few, and they haven't been entertaining at all. I'll give this one a miss.

Alien: Isolation from the Aliens movie storyline is the free game at Epic today

Getting a 500 error trying to grab it. I don't normally do horror, but that's a game I've been nominally intrigued by in the past and 'free' is the right price.

Not my cup of tea so far with the games I don't already own. Hope there's a surprise or two that deviate from the list I've seen, but if not, there won't be a reason to install the Epic launcher for me just yet.

I would say Cities Skylines would have been the one I most have interest in so far, but I already have it. Not sure what is coming up, but I think Tyranny and Pillars of Eternity would have fit well here instead of a week before.

Like I said, they were either the setup for a letdown because what could be on that level, or prelude to amazeballs.

Epic is making me not want to actually pay for games anymore.

Yeah these days between all of the game services, you almost don't have to pay for one if you are willing to wait long enough or get it from some FOFC'er who has an extra copy/don't like that kind of game, etc.

Inside, a game about a boy drawn into a mysterious, horrible project is the next free game at Epic. Looks like a platformer. I remember one of my You Tubers looking at this game when it came out, and it looked interesting
