Ladder replacement league
Since teambuilder is fighting me doing the Ladder semi-recreation, I've come up with a far simpler solution.
1. Entirely new dynasty using real teams. I will edit in up to 5 Ladder players from each team if people would like to do that (Jimmy Thomas lives!). 2. If an owner likes, they can create a teambuilder team for themselves (looks in Julio's direction.) to whatever specifications they like. Right now, I am torn between using IU or the fictional North Dakota Tyrants squad that I came up with - or maybe even Rochester) 3. 7 minute quarters, same sliders we've been using, but fatigue off, user coaches max out at 10. We can assess how the fatigue-off thing is working after season 1. 4. I will edit up the coach and some players on the primary rival for each of our teams. 5. I will probably reconfigure conferences a bit (like gettting Maryland and Rutgers out of the Big Ten and putting in Notre Dame and Missouri). 6. No recruiting athletes. 7. After a few seasons to let people build up their rosters, we might reconfigure conferences to a setup similar to the Ladder where USC/IU are in the Big Ten and Ole Miss/Rapid City are in the SEC. |
Ok, I think I can handle picking 5 players from my old team. I'll make my team a 3 star team using Minnesotas roster, everything else as far as set up here sounds solid to me.
My 5 players: QB Brian Blaylock TE Craig Smith ROLB Anthony Burton MLB Demetrius Nolan DT Tony Jackson My team can be found under formanopinion as the Rapid City State Knights. I've also edited myself onto the roster as a Freshman WR rated 73 OVR. I took the place of a 73 OVR freshman WR on the team. Do I need to set my Academic Prestige and things like that? |

You can set them as you see fit. :) |
All right we're good to go then. We're an academics-first school that just recently discovered the potential of using our football program to fund research.

You don't have to have players edited in. But you can, if you want. Otherwise, I'll just go with whatever Ole Miss's roster is in the roster file that I download from OS. |

Sounds good, nerds. :) |
EF. Which 5 players would you like me to edit in?
|
Jimmy Thomas
T.J. Adams George King Thomas Keller Adam Carter |
Okay, give me the following 5 off the FAU roster.
QB Carlos Brown MLB Patrick Avery SS Rob Banks RE Martin George HB Dan Clemens |

Looking at it in teambuilder, I don't see any of your five guys on the roster. |

I haven't put them in, but I can do that tomorrow morning probably or perhaps later tonight. Do I put the players into my roster exactly as they are listed? For instance, Blaylock would be a junior coming into next season.. But making him a Junior will rob him of a year of development. So do I make my guys according to the class they are listed on the spreadsheet or do I advance them a year? just want to make sure I don't get an added advantage. |
That's a tricky issue. I've wrestled with how to handle it. I don't think that anything that involves us manually progressing them can work. It'd be too hard to do so fairly, and I'd rather not have to figure out what's fair for my guys and other owner's guys. I think we should advance their eligibility a year, but not progress their ratings. Also, any imported player should replace the best player at their position by rating. So sort by rating and then edit the guy on the top of the list.

All right, sounds good. I'll do that then, should have it done by tomorrow. |
Good news. I figured out that if I edit existing teambuilder teams in Teambuilder, they don't disappear, so we're able to go back to the original plan for our teams.
Teambuilder specifications (work in progress) 1. Teams will start with 3-star prestige level 2. Locations - Indiana is in North Dakota; Rapid City is in South Dakota; USC is in Wyoming; Ole Miss is in Nebraska 3. Base roster for teams is Minnesota 4. Base pitches - B across the board |
To calculate the Kick Return rating, I took the average of SPD+AGI+ACC.

FYI working on finishing my team right now. Had some unexpected sidetracking over the past few days.
Will update when done. |
Done now. Team ready to go. Sorry if I was holding things up.
|
You weren't. I still have some editing of the roster file to do before I'll be ready to roll. I'm thinking this weekend or more likely next weekend for getting this off the ground.

Could you kindly not move it until after we pick my kid up for the summer in a couple weeks? It's a bitch of a drive as it is  |
:D I'll see what I can do....
|
Indiana's recreated players:
QB Zach Martin HB Troy McKinney WR Anthony Glover TE J.D. Slaughter CB John Wade |
Welp, I got everything all set up and hit upload, and got an error message saying "online dynasty is unavailable". When I try to load an existing OD, it works no problem, so online dynasty is available. I think it doesn't like the roster file that I spent hours editing. I tried to upload multiple times but got the "online dynasty is not available" message each time. I'm thinking of throwing in the towel at this point. It's really annoying to waste a bunch of what little free time I have, only to run into shit like this. Maybe I should just adopt Julio's "Fuck EA" sig...
I'll give it one more try some other time, but I think it's not going to work. |

That sucks! :(
|
I'd still be ok with a league with us taking over existing teams or whatever but that's up to you guys. I think I could find a scrub team to get behind in the spirit of friendly competition.
