Shane Ryan, an author and writer for pgatour.com started a trivia league a while back and just invited people to sign up for the next round a few weeks back. I signed up and will be participating next week. Thought it might be fun to share my experience - honestly, I wish I had notified FOFC about this when he was asking for signups, this seems right up some member's alleys. At least it's on the FOFC radar now, and maybe you guys can get in next time he asks for more people.

There are a lot of sports writers in here so I expect to be below average. However, it's an incredible idea and I'm glad to be partaking!

Summited my Day 1 answers. I got one question correct of the first five. I'll post the questions later (in the off chance someone else playing reads this).

I absolutely had no idea on 3 of the 5, and thought I would have 2 correct. We will see later how my opponent did!

AST is recruiting new people and wants a blitz of folks to fill an entire new conference. As the person responsible for infecting this forum with Learned League players (heh)

I'll say AST is 100 times more enjoyable daily than playing LL, where you just hate yourself about what you know or don't know. AST is fun, it's breezy and even if you're getting beaten it's not a burden. The seasons are shorter too.

I would've won today but I changed my HR at the last second to question 1, and made a mistake. So I will get a tie.

I had a quick look at this, checked out the sample questions to see how out of my depth I'd be and one of the questions was "There are five types of goals in hockey: even strength, power play, short-handed, penalty shot and empty net. Who was the first player to score all five in a single game?"

Later that evening I was watching hockey on TV and their fan trivia question was that very question. Felt like a boss actually knowing the answer to a hockey fan trivia question for the first time ever.

Too specific a subject for me. YD has relayed some of the questions, and eh, I think I'll pass. I'll stick to the more general LearnedLeague. ;)

Got my first 10(5) tonight, and that was with a total guess on #4

Still messed up the defense but luckily dude missed 2 questions

Eschaton / Premiership. It's a lot less annoying to me than LL, but still...the questions can be sort of odd at times.

Where do we think the level of cheating is at? I'm playing a guy who is in 1st right now, he has never missed a football question, 80% or better on three other categories. Come on.

I've been thinking this, too. It's gotta be a much higher threshold than Learned League, just given the trivia bonafides. I think he's trying his best to write questions that sort of mitigate this a bit, but...I'd have to guess it's pretty high.

How many folks we have from FOFC doing this now. I'm about to join up (in May I have been told) Just being curious.

I doubt I'll be as good here as I am in LL. However I like the concept. I'm hoping for 3 but can see myself in 4.

Got a nice win on Day 1 thanks to my correct answer to the final question.

I'm curious if he will accept my answer for number 5. Thought I'd get Q1, I didn't. Only 1 of 4 so far, 2 of 5 at best!

Only got 1 so did my opponent. But his was his HR

Same, I'm bitter I didn't take time to really think about the last 2.

Also, I played my HR wrong, so I cost myself 2 points and a tie.

This is the epitome of Apocalypse, you're going to fit in just fine

Got my first win today vs the other 0-2-0 player! A homer helped.

My opponent got 5 right today as well. Doesn't matter the questions, this guy is 85% or better on every single category, in fact, he has never once missed an NFL question. I'm playing the Schwab.
