To varying degrees in each market, variety based on the integrity and credibility of the "publisher"...the 24/7, Rivals and Scout platforms typically are pretty much good journalism.
The "fan boy" sites masquerading as legit media are the problems. I know recently retired and HOF Clemson SID, Tim Bouret, has asked security to remove journalists from the press box on two occasions after they showed up decked out in team gear and cheered openly and loudly for the home team |
Washington State's Mike Leach called out Pac-12 officiating
Mike Leach is going to get the PAC 12 execs fired, rightfully so |
Double post

Rumors flying that the Board of Regents commission at Maryland have found no evidence of a "toxic atmosphere" at the school and that the fate of DJ Durkin will be known in the next couple weeks.
|
Iowa goes old school on Maryland in a windy game. 52 rushes and 24 passes. Owned TOP. 23-0 win.
Im not worried about anyone in the B1G. |
AR finally gets win #2 vs Tulsa.
What a crappy season. |
woooooooooooooooooooo
(yeah, had a band competition so we've been on DVR delay) |
OSU exposed.
AL vs LSU next week should be good but think LSU will come up short. My guess is AL and Clemson in the NC. |
Go look at the ending of the Old Dominion/WKU game.
|
Quote:
That was crazy. And what makes college football so much fun. |
Quote:
And they (osu) quit. Lack of character in that bunch. Alabama should just be crowned champ. Then pick 4 other teams for the playoffs. Maybe move Alabama up to the AFC South. |
Best comment I saw on Twitter last night:
I hope Urban Meyer remembers to report this beating. |
Quote:
Saw this one OSU board of regents has formed a special task force. They aren't going to do anything. But in 2 weeks they will tell us Urban had nothing to do with this loss. |
Quote:
The craziest thing about this is that 2 of the 3 untimed downs were in WKU's favor - and led to them losing! |
Amazing that Old Dominion has two wins this year - this crazy one against WKU and one where they put up 49 on Virginia Tech.
|
Sounds like Petrino is on his way out. Louisville looking into using his off field behavior as a reason to fire for cause.
It's going to be interesting to see if Brohm takes that job or stays at Purdue. |
Quote:
He would have a better chance in the ACC I think. Purdue would be harder to recruit than Louisville. Dont forget Matt Campbell at ISU should be ready to move on soon. He has done wonders there. |
Hopefully Chris Ash is ready to move on, or Rutgers is ready to move on Ash, because I can’t deal with all these terrible teams I support
|
Quote:
It must suck. I hate that you have to go through that crap show. |

It wouldn’t be so bad if the Mets had a good year or the Giants weren’t looking at a 1-15 type season, or if the Flyers had a goalie, but just the combination of everything makes them all worse |
Annual Tech-mo Bowl tonight between Georgia Tech and Virginia Tech.
During CPJ's tenure: The outcomes of the games have fallen along an odd split. Georgia Tech is 4-1 on games played on Saturdays and 0-5 on four Thursdays and one Monday. The home/road split has been identical – Georgia Tech is 2-3 in Lane Stadium (including wins in the past two trips) and 2-3 in Bobby Dodd Stadium.Given that and GT's general road troubles lately (not including Louisville), I'm not expecting much here. |
Tough Thursday to be a favorite.
GT has embarrassed VT. Appy State has embarrassed themselves Even Western Michigan trying to get in on the act. |
I'll take the win, but I definitely don't think running the QB 40 times and only passing once will work long term.
|

Eh, it works okay enough sometimes against bad teams / bad defenses. Only completed one pass vs Louisville after all. No margin for error with it (and you know how much this team loooooves making mistakes) but with careful scheduling it might get 'em to 6 wins now & then. I gather that's the ceiling we're supposed to accept most of the time & all. Long-term aside, it was a very nice coming out party for Oliver (who had been effective in a previous relief stint too) so I'm happy for him as a random player at least. |
Good Lord the UCLA receivers can't catch the ball to save their lives.
|
Find out if Iowa is a contender or a pretender today.
They win today and they should jump into the top 10. I predict a 31-14 Iowa win. |
Willie Taggart is a national god damn treasure.
|
Coastal Carolina with a thrilling win on the road at Georgia State to get one win away from being bowl eligible. That might be difficult to obtain with their next three games, but their last game of the season is certainly do-able. Would be quite an accomplishment given their situation.
|
Wow, Mizzo
|
Good win for GA.

Northwestern now with the best chance to make the B1G championship game from the West.
They also have Notre Dame to come. They are notorious for playing up to the level of their competition and Notre Dame has a history of choking it up at some point. |
Washington State, UVA, Northwestern, Utah, and Kentucky lead P5 divisions |
Quote:
And I think Utah State probably warrants a Group of Five mention here too (since it's Boise's division they're leading) |
What a dose of reality. I bought in. I guess I didnt realize how bad Minnesota, Indiana and Maryland really are.
I can see Iowa finishing this season 8-4 and headed tot he Holiday bowl. |
Quote:
We couldn't get anything done on offense, I get that. No way in heck that's a defensive PI at the end of the game though. |
Tarcone, where it's either FIRE FERENTZ
OR We're CFP contenders baby! Never change |
Quote:
Welcome to Iowa fandom. There is part fot he fan base that want us to take the next step. The data shows that there is no reason we cant be Wisconsin. There are 2 things that keep us from that. And Im sickened we have to aspire to be like Wisconsin. But I digress. We need to get rid of our AD Barta and then Ferentz. The staff completely choked. One example is leaving in your QB, who is so inefffectual, that the announcers were comparing him to a middle school QB, for the entire game. What a sham. But, yes, I fly freely on the spectrum. If Iowa does well, it is despite coaching or beating inferior opponents. If Iowa does poorly, it is crappy coaching. Which, honestly, is hidden by the players sometimes. And remember, Iowa football is the only show in the state. No pro teams, no other good FBS programs. |
Quote:
Haha! I was thinking the same thing. |
Quote:
I totally can relate, lol. |
Wow, shades of 2007? A load of turnover in the AP poll.

Rutgers football player charged in attempted double-murder plot
Terrible look for Ash and his program. That's gotta be another strike against him. |
Saw a tweet that was something to the effect of, boy the ACC getting $31 million not to have to deal with Maryland seems like the best conference tv deal, and that's counting the Longhorn network.
|
|
Quote:
Do we have any idea how this ACC Network is going to work? Is it just going to be an additional channel? Are they going to put the Longhorn Network out of its misery? Replace ESPN Classic? |
I haven't seen anything in a few months, but that was the exit payment that the ACC ultimately negotiated with the B1G and Maryland.
|
Wow. A state of 3 million has the #16 and #24 teams in the CFP.
I agree with the poll. I think they did a good job. |
Sidenote: I'm not at all sure there's too many things more overpriced than tickets to see mediocre (to bad) college football.
Did I mention it's Parent's Weekend at Ole Miss this weekend? |
