As far as I know, we don't have a general news thread. This isn't political, covid, or strange news so I'll start this thread.

The headline doesn't do justice to how awful this is.

How about outrage news? I almost put this in the shooting thread because, while it doesn't involve a shooting (yet), it does involve what clearly appears to be police misconduct.

Yup. This is just one town, but it is not the only one. I imagine you can find other places just like it in other states in the deep south as well. If you ever ride through somewhere and ask "how does such a small town have so many nice Police vehicles?" it is probably too late.

Honestly, Alabama and Mississippi are probably 50 and 51 on my list of states I want to ever visit.

Huntsville is nice. It is worth it to go to tour the Redstone Arsenal and the space center there. Just a good day trip kind of place. And Dreamland BBQ is worth a stop by if you ever get a chance. Just insanely good. Other than that, both states are crap-holes.

There are so many towns like this around the country. I remember reading about one that was right outside a casino (maybe Florida?) that would use civil forfeiture on anyone they pulled over because so many had a lot of cash on them.

Definitely lots of small towns where police misconduct is an issue. Like Chicago, for instance. :D

I'd be saying WTF and not so nice if I was her, but that's some dedication to the job. Probably still on a high from knowing it's her last week on the job...

Some local nutzo parents have doing the usual, trying to ban books, which led to this gem recently at a meeting. (It's a reddit thread, I'm not smart enough to isolate the video).
