Season 26 (1863) Thread (ST/Season)

I'll run the draft lottery for this year now.

Young Drachma 11-16-2012 12:05 PM

Maybe Ed Saunders should come back at age 43 and hit his 800th home run for an expansion team.

Young Drachma 11-16-2012 12:10 PM

Young Drachma 11-16-2012 12:32 PM

This isn't accurate though in the sense that expansion clubs are slotted into the 3/4 spot. So with that, here's the

1863 DRAFT ORDER

1. Wyoming
2. Kauai
3. NL expansion
4. Boston
5. Cleveland (NL)
6. Memphis
7. Lake Tahoe
8. Columbus
9. Chicago
10. Gettysburg
11. Rio Grande
12. Kauai (via St. Louis)
13. Brooklyn
14. Cleveland (AL)
15. Washington
16. San Diego
17. Carolina
18. Winnemucca

2nd round: 2.12 Washington (via St. Louis)

Young Drachma 11-16-2012 02:01 PM

Reminder that this year the cap is set to $200m temporarily thanks to arbitration (which is now turned off for future years) and we'll go back to $100m next year.

All teams except Washington have a cap of $200m this year, Washington is at $175m because they accepted the one-time $25m offer to get access to FFP/RFA.

So for the new people, don't be alarmed by wacky cap numbers. It's just a one-year blip.

Young Drachma 11-16-2012 05:48 PM

Jax Powers will take over the NL expansion club that he ought to be naming here shortly.

Young Drachma 11-16-2012 07:10 PM

The new NL team will named the Denver Crows.

Young Drachma 11-16-2012 07:37 PM

Also, the game gave both Denver and Boston 2 Rookie league teams apiece, because they joined too late to get Winter League teams. We'll adjust one of them apiece to the Winter League between the post-season and start of FA.

Young Drachma 11-16-2012 08:22 PM

SLOP hall of famer and career home run leader Ed Saunders with 799 is coming back for #800 this year. He'll be in FA when you get the post-ST file tonight. He's 43 years old.

We'll see if anyone wants to give him a sympathy run around the bases swan song.

Young Drachma 11-16-2012 11:43 PM

Ok, Spring Training time.

Young Drachma 11-17-2012 12:16 AM

Young Drachma 11-17-2012 12:39 AM

Ok, file is up. We'll sim the 1st half on Monday night. Have a good weekend. In the off-chance someone wants to make a deal, I'll process trades through Sunday night.

Young Drachma 11-17-2012 12:52 PM

I'll put up a new file to process the trades later tonight or in the morning, I'm about to leave the house right this second. Exports will obviously work fine, I'm not advancing any days, just processing deals.

Young Drachma 11-17-2012 03:38 PM

I got a chance to process trades, so there's a new file up right now for the people that made deals.

Also, I guess it's worth noting that a year ago this week we moved SLOP over here and got started and we have a year in the books. 26 seasons and counting. Not bad. So thanks to you all for playing along, I've been enjoying it and I hope you have too.

1863 Season Preview & Playoff Odds - Front Office Football Central

These playoff previews were so much easier when this was an 8-team league ;)

Young Drachma 11-19-2012 02:21 PM

Ok, I need to put up a new file to process today's trades.

Young Drachma 11-19-2012 02:21 PM

Will post once I've done so. 1st half of the season takes place tonight.

Young Drachma 11-19-2012 08:30 PM

People who've made trades today, I put up a new file for you to make changes if you wish. If you're prefer to send me changes to make, I can also do that.

TurnerONU22 11-19-2012 08:34 PM

YD, can you make sure that you have my export? Thanks!

Confirmed!

Young Drachma 11-19-2012 08:40 PM

I'm really excited to see what happens this year. It's one of those rare seasons where I wish we were a sim all at once league, just so I could see the results. Of course, when we finish 5th, I'll wish there was a mid-season break. So you know, there's that.

Young Drachma 11-19-2012 08:52 PM

Only a few FRANCHISE players left out there. Pat Kenady was Lake Tahoe's (Though now he's not) and as such, they're eligible for FFP/RFA now.

Anyway, here's what the rule was regarding trading FRANCHISE players. I had to dredge it up because I didn't remember the exact wording:

Quote:

Franchise players may be traded. Upon being trade, the franchise player receives a one-year contract extension with an annual value equal to the median salary of the Top 10 players in SLOP at the time of trade + $1 million. His deal for the current year will be equal to the media salary of the Top 20 players in SLOP at the time of trade + $1.5 million

Thank goodness I made this median and not average. Smart guy back then.

Anyway, Kenady gets a 1-year extension worth $31.25 million +1 million for a total of $32.25 million. His current year deal will be for $24 million + 1.5 million or $25.5m

Draft pick tracker updated

Young Drachma 11-19-2012 11:01 PM

Welp, it's almost that time...

Young Drachma 11-19-2012 11:25 PM

wolvie did you export for Kauai?

Young Drachma 11-19-2012 11:33 PM

Ok, he's not here. I thought he was. Anyway, I fixed their team since they had 33 on the roster. Let's start simming. Good luck to everyone.

Young Drachma 11-19-2012 11:38 PM

Carolina brought back Ed Saunders to get his 800th HR apparently. I've placed him in AAA until mid-season since they already had 25 guys on the ML roster.

Young Drachma 11-19-2012 11:41 PM

There's always a lag in April, because the game takes like 3-5 minutes to calculate league stats settings. It's a painful process.

Young Drachma 11-19-2012 11:44 PM

On April 1st, Denver led the NL. Just thought you'd want to know...

Young Drachma 11-19-2012 11:47 PM

Lest anyone tell you late trades don't matter. Washington's Pat Wright -- yes, the same Pat Wright that got traded early tonight -- currently leads the majors in HRs with 15.

OTHER NOTABLES
Shakil Sa'eed has found his groove. He's 2-4 with a 2.14 ERA through eight starts with the Denver Crows.

Lake Tahoe's Zachary Allen and Pat Black are two pitchers you've probably never heard of. But they currently have five wins apiece.

One of these days when I've got a bit too much time in my hands, we'll see which team made the biggest ever comeback at mid-season to the end of the year. I feel like we don't see enough of them, but I imagine it's happened before and I just haven't been paying attention.

Young Drachma 11-20-2012 12:10 AM

Though for the first three years of this league, we had 1st half and 2nd half champions, rather than the playoff teams decided by overall record (except when the same team won both halves...)

Young Drachma 11-20-2012 12:19 AM

Uploading the file now. Quick turnaround tomorrow, as we'll do the 2nd half tomorrow and playoffs on Wednesday because of the holiday. If you have any trades, please get them in before 7pm eastern because then I can come home and generate a new file and get it up to you all in time to export again for tomorrow night's deadline.

Young Drachma 11-20-2012 12:25 AM

OK, file is up. See you tomorrow night.

Young Drachma 11-20-2012 12:53 AM

Oh Ed Saunders is hitting .625 in AAA, so at least we know he's no slouch.

CleBrownsfan 11-20-2012 07:42 AM

Sweet - looks like progress has been made by the Spiders. Hope it holds up!! ;)

Edit: This (Team avg .267 Team ERA 4.46) makes me a little curious how I have done so well the 1st half of the season.
