Just going to ignore that last comment. :)
So what are your guys specialties and stuff just so we have them all easily accessible? I went longsword and constitution, so I should be able to take some punishment and dole out some hurting. |

EagleFan and the jackal back the viper against the rocks below the maiden as Chief Rum heads for the lock holding her. The maiden screams "Help me!" distracting the viper and the Jackal attacks first. Miss.
The viper swipes it tail in defense at Jackal but misses as well. The viper then attacks with his poisonous fangs. Another miss. EagleFan lets loose a Magic Missile which slams into the Viper. Jackal misses again. You can hear the DJ laughing in the background. The viper swipes again at Jackal and knocks him to the grass but does no damage. A fang strike from the viper misses. EF shoots another Magic Missile at the viper. Again it connects. The jackal gets up as the viper attacks with his fang. Hit! Ouch, that stings! EF hits with another missile. The viper is really hurt now. It thrashes about, missing with another fang attack. Finally, The Jackal swings and slices the head of the Viper clean off. You have defeated the viper! Meanwhile, Chief Rum has freed the lock and the maiden steps free. The maiden plants a wet kiss on CR's lips and says "Thank you" in a way only a maiden can before the referee grabs you and points you toward a door in the side of the coliseum. You rush through it and into the next room. It took your team 4 turns to make it through this challenge. Well done. |

Do the HP's represent what we have going into the next round? Is tere a max, or is that the max for our character?
In other words, do we go into each round with that total or are we hurt and aready under the max? |
The rope has me wondering if we should pick up a rope or two. It must come into play at some point.

I bought the +1 Lockpicks, so I could be a more effective specialist. :)

I was tempted to ask one of you for 50 gold to buy a +1 longsword, but I bet we'll have other opportunities to get/purchase weaponry and armor. I think having rope and lockpicks will give us some advantages not based on luck (like most of the fighting presumably is). Maybe they just give us +1 on a die roll, but everything helps.

Room 3
Note that this is in the TEAM THREAD. People's rooms may or may not be different from here on out. You are free to discuss in the main thread if you so choose. You quickly make your purchases from the old man and continue through a door clearly marked for your team. At least you won't get lost. Not yet, anyway. Upon entering the next room, you are blinded. You see nothing but white. Fearing the worst, you reach for your weapons, but your vision clears in a moment and you realize it's just the lights from the TV camera crew standing in front of you. TV monitors line the walls and you see the audience assembled in the coliseum. You realize that they are still there watching you on closed circuit TV. Cheers and boos rain down on you from the monitors. You're separated from the other teams now and wonder if they are in a similar room. In the middle of the room are 5 numbered chests. The numerals go from 1 to 5. You take stock and notice that chests number 1 and 5 appear to be locked. The others are not. The audience members are yelling from the stands, trying to get you to pick certain chests, but you can't glean any useful information from that as they seem to contradict each other. However, you do notice a member of the camera crew (unfortunately, it is not Scud Farkus) trying to catch your eye. He points at chest number 3 and quickly shakes his head as if to say "don't." Decision Time: I need you to tell me which chests (if any) you want to open and which character opens which ones. You can take enough time to open them all if you like or you can ignore the chests and rush through the room. In addition, I need to know if you want to open the chests quickly or take the time to check for traps. Any character can try to check for traps, but your Specialist will obviously be better at it. You realize that any of the chests could be trapped, even the ones that are unlocked. So send me something that lists each chest and if you want to open it or ignore it. If you want to open it, tell me who opens it and whether they want to check for traps or do it quickly. Each team should PM me their order by 9pm tonight. |
Question for KWhit - says above I have 14 hp, but other thread indicated I started with 20, yes? Is there any sort of auto-healing between events or is the only way to heal via spell or potion?

You can only heal through spells and potions.

So I think we should have CR open one of the locked chests and maybe I'll open one of the unlocked chests with more hp to absorb a trap? Open to ideas though.

I was asked a question that I thought I would clarify for everyone.
The question was basically if the time element still mattered in this room. Yes. There is a time element to every action you take. You are currently in a race to the end of the dungeon, so the clock is always ticking. Just because I posted a time at the end of that first room doesn't mean that the race is paused. Your other competitors are still going through their sections as fast as they can, so I'll be calculating the standings all the time. Even casting spells takes time. For instance, in this room, you decide who opens what chest which impacts how long it takes to progress. A single people can open multiple chests, but the clock is ticking. If you take the time to have one person open all 5 chests, that will take a lot longer than all three of you getting involved. Or you could just choose to each open one chest and then move to the next room. Your choice. |
For purposes of the race I think we should open 3 chests max, maybe 1-2, unless you are feeling really lucky about one of the chests EF.
What do we think about the 3rd chest? Not worth the risk of the cameraman telling the truth, or does it contain the best item! |
Heading out to the store shortly, will then be around for the rest of the afternoon but out of contact from about 8 until tomorrow morning, though I'll probably check on my phone to see night results/see if input is needed.

Not much time at the moment, just checking in to see what lies ahead of us. Will probably not check back in until after work (early evening).
My initial reaction is to stay away from chest 3. We are a close 2nd in fame so I think the "studio" may want to keep us a little longer (hence a possible inside hint). Just off the top of my head thinking at the moment though, not much thought yet. I wouldn't mind seeing us try 3 chests, with CR taking a shot at a locked one and us going after the other two unlocked ones (avoiding 3). If I have a chance to check in before leaving work I will, but I don't know what time will look like. |
It is probably safest to avoid the 3rd chest so ef and I can open 2 and 4 (we can flip a coin!) and cr can choose 1 or 5, I could see him going for both but I wonder of the time implications

Sounds like a plan. We avoid 3, each open one of the unlocked chests and CR randomly picks one of the other two. Then we move along.

I am guessing that we might as well check. I figure we'll take as long as our longest player and Chief checking for traps while picking the lock will probably be the longest of the three of us so we should be able to check for traps without extending out time.

I'm weighing the possible time loss vs our ability to even uncover a trap. Maybe you should look for one EF since you're probably more intelligent (not sure if that relates, might be dexterity) and since you can take less of a punch. But I think I'll take the risk.
