WW CLVI - Clue: Master Detective - GAME OVER! MURDERERS WIN! (Post 1817)

Welcome to the Hill House, just off scenic Route 41!

Things are not all as they seem, however. After a lovely dinner of monkey's brains, which, while populate in Cantonese cuisine, is not often found in Washington DC, you learn that many of the folks attending dinner are being blackmailed...by the very host of the dinner, Mr Boddy!

To make matters worse, the house is locked, and informants, blackmailer, and blackmailees are all locked in this massive old house....and the police are on their way! You need to decide who dun it to give that person over to the cops, before the murderer kills you all.

Usual rules apply. Don't edit posts, vote in bold, ah la: VOTE HOOPSGUY.

Lynch deadline will be tentatively 8:00pm Central Time.
Night actions due 7:00am Central Time, to be processed around 8:00am. Maybe earlier, maybe later.

The first time you tie the lynch vote, nobody dies. The second time you tie the lynch vote, I unleash unspeakable horrors. The third time you tie the lynch vote...one does not speak of such things.

Characters are divided into four separate categories, as follows.

The Big Six
-----------
The Big Six are the original six characters. With the exception of Mr. Green, they all have some sort of vendetta against one of the Informants, and thusly all a very vested interest in murdering the living hell out of them. Any of the Big Six has the potential to become a murderer.

The Informants
--------------
Also invited to the party are the Informants. They have all been secretly passing information to Mr Boddy for years, allowing him to blackmail the Big Six. Unfortunately, now they are stuck in the very same house as those they've ratted out.

The Extras
----------
While they have no chance at becoming a murderer through ordinary means, the Extras have also come to attend the party, and each has a vested interest in finding the killer(s).

The Murderers
-------------
There is at least one murderer at the start of the game. They are not known to you, but they have a very big interest in making you die, to fulfill their nefarious plots. Any one of the Big Six may also become a murderer during the course of the game, if certain conditions are met.

Note. Despite the multiple categories, there are only two factions for gameplay purposes: Not Murderers and Murderers.

Really note. This game has the potential of being a serious bloodbath. MOST characters have roles, and most characters roles can result in horrific painful deaths for certain parties involved. I make no guarantees that this will not go horribly horribly wrong/right and result in a shit ton of people dying immediately.

Specifics to follow.

Coffee Warlord 02-28-2013 04:07 PM

All roles/titles will begin the game as hidden. You will not know what people can do, or who they are. You WILL learn the identity of the person when they die, you will learn if they were a murderer, but you will not learn their ability.

Also, do not expect roles to be the normal WW roles. There are a few similarities, but for the most part, they are weird.

The Big Six
The Big Six, as noted above, are all fully capable of becoming a murderer at some point in the game.

Colonel Mustard
One very fat fellow, the morbidly rich Colonel stole essential airplane radio parts and sold them on the black market. The Motorist informed on him to
Mr Boddy, who is now paying him a small fortune to stay quiet.

Miss Scarlet
The quite attractive Miss Scarlet runs an answering service that provides a gentleman with the company of a young lady, for a short while. She's been
bribing The Cop for years to keep her business going, but Mr Boddy has found out, and is trying to cut in on the action.

Mrs White
The pale, tragic Mrs White. C'mon guys, she's only had five husbands, who have all vanished under mysterious circumstances! No sweat! She has a particular
dislike of Yvette, who she caught cheating with husband #4.

Mr Green
Mr Green works for the State Department. And...he's a homosexual. Thank you.

Professor Plum
Know what male doctors can't do with their patients? He did. Whoops. An affair with The Singing Telegram Girl resulted in him losing his license, and
paying a great deal of blackmail to Mr Boddy.

Mrs Peacock
The wife of a corrupt Senator, Mrs Peacock rose to fame by collecting bribes for her husband. Also a big fan of monkey's brains, though she has little taste in
hats. The Cook found out her secrets and told Mr Boddy.

The Informants
While the informants cannot become a murderer, they stand a better than average chance of being murdered themselves. They've ratted out their former
employers, and are now stuck in a house with them. The good news is, they have a few tricks up their sleeve.

The Cop
You've been taking bribes from Miss Scarlet for years.

The Motorist
You were Colonel Mustard's driver during the war.

The Cook
An expert in Cantonese cuisine, you were once Mrs Peacock's personal chef.

Yvette
The scantily dressed maid, you had an affair with one of Mrs White's prior husbands. And you worked for Miss Scarlet. And you banged Colonel Mustard, you dirty slut you.

The Singing Telegram Girl
You had a thing for the Professor, and for having bit roles in B-rate movies.

The Extras
The Extras also cannot become murderers, but they do have special abilities. Mr Boddy and Wadsworth are guaranteed to be in the game.

Mr Boddy
Oh yeah. He's here, he's blackmailing you, and he has in his possession six lethal weapons.

Wadsworth
Mr Boddy's personal butler, he himself was being blackmailed by the odious Mr Boddy. It was his idea to gather everyone to the house and confront Mr Boddy.

The Other Extras
These are publicly known characters at the onset of the game. Whether or not they are a murderer is, however, not known. What powers they have is also not known. HOWEVER. The Other Extras are running late, and don't arrive to the mansion with the rest of the guests. They will arrive at an unknown day (no later than day 3, most likely earlier). They can take no actions, be targeted for night actions, or be lynched until they have arrived at the house. They CAN take part in any discussions, however, and they CAN vote.

Miss Peach
The very picture of beauty, this innocent flower seems entirely out of place amongst such sordid fellows.

Monsieur Brunette
A hideously wealthy and hideously ruthless arms dealer, the frenchman is a master of disguise and intrigue.

Madame Rose
Word is the Madame is more than the fraudulent fortune teller many claim her to be. What she's actually doing here is a different matter entirely.

Sergeant Grey
Another corrupt cop...is there any other kind? However, the timing of his visit to the manor house leads to many questions as to who he's working for.

The Chief
The local chief of police is, amazingly, the only honest cop around.

Lady Lavender
Lady Lavender is and old bitter widow. She's seen it all, done them all, and lived to tell the tale.

Prince Azure
A disgraced Prussian nobleman, the Prince has worked in the underworld for years. He is a leading figure in the criminal world...what's he doing here?

Rusty Naylor
The groundskeeper at the mansion, this old man has seen far too much, and just wants to retire to the country. He's been tending to this house for decades, and knows it inside and out.

Mr Meadow-Brook
Mr Boddy's attorney. He's been known to represent some of the foulest people on earth, and has always gotten an acquittal.

ORDER OF OPERATIONS

All night actions are to be considered happening at the same time.

When an event occurs that would prevent a character from completing their actions (aka any sort of 'blocking' action), that will take priority.

In reasonably simple terms:

Player A attacks Player B at night.
Player B has an ability to block Player C's action.
Player C is a seer, and scans player A.

This would be resolved as: Player B is killed. Player C's scan is blocked by Player B, despite the fact he died in the process of it.

It can get more complicated than that, but the simple rule of thumb is - everything gets resolved at once. You can complete your action in your death throes.

I actually have Clue: Master Detective, so I figure I've got this one in the bag.

Coffee Warlord 02-28-2013 04:18 PM

And it has nothing to do with Master Detective. Based off the movie more than anything. :)

That's a good way to put it. Or creepy. Probably a little of both.

You are not sorry! :-P

So no one knows who anyone is? Or would the Cop and Miss Scarlet know who each other are? I was confused enough in my first game...

Wolfish mind is different from this. it sounds like you just know peoples names and no one know the other roles (so killers can kill killers on accident)...

Well I hope I get to be Vyette lol... This way I can google image "scantily dressed maid" and say it was for the game only...

This should be SOP going forward. :D

Autumn 02-28-2013 09:26 PM

I think CW should personally travel to our houses and slap us if we tie the vote 3 times.

Am I the only one that kinda wants to see what he would do if we did tie it that much?

I suspect it would involve a really gruesome seen with yaks.

Coffee Warlord 03-01-2013 09:39 AM

You ARE playing, right hoops? RIGHT?

RIGHT?!?!

Coffee Warlord 03-01-2013 09:39 AM

Oh, and note the Order of Operations post at the top.

Chief Rum 03-01-2013 09:47 AM

In my game, if you tied it, you would have lost the right to lynch anyone until you eliminated a wrestler.

(j/k... but I wish I had thought of it sooner...)

Standard commentary about work getting in way of access, blah blah blah :)

Although I can't say I'm too pleased with the subliminal message in the rules:

I always appreciate when fellow players look out for me like that ;)

In all seriousness, I'm concerned that by D3 I will have work screwing up my access/availability. But if this is a bloodbath then I can safely partake in early carnage before exiting, stage left. Or just recklessly disregard important work stuff to scheme here ... one or the other.

Lathum 03-01-2013 11:38 AM
