American - 2015
Time to set up your new recruiting boards, redshirt players, and request OOC opponents on your schedule. The 2015 season is almost here!
|
OH BABY
|
All set with our board and such.
We want to play our rivals if we have a rival, then a couple teams like Nebraska or Cal, not juggernauts, but good teams from major conferences. Prefer to have our last home game as late in the year as possible, and one as close to midseason as possible. |
All done.
As far as schedule: I'd like as many home games as possible after week 10. I'd like them to be against any ofthe following schools: Navy, UCLA, SDSU, Rutgers, Army, Toledo, or any other mid major school. |
Quote:
vs. Cal week 2 at USF week 4 at Penn State week 8 Couldn't get Nebraska. You have locked home games from week 9 to 12, and you are locked from week 9 to 15. |
Quote:
This game generates crazy schedules. You have locked conference games weeks 1-8, and then week 15. You have away games for you first 5 weeks. Wk 10 at Navy Wk 12 vs Army Wk 14 vs Wake Forest |
Quote:
I'm good with it. |
You can line me up with some mid majors. Illinois, Indiana, Miss. ST., Virginia, Kansas, Kentucky. Those will all do.
|

Your schedule is crazy too. Locked game weeks 7-15, with the last 5 all being home games. Wk 2 at Kansas Wk 4 at Illinois Wk 6 vs. Kentucky |

Outer Banks QB Andrew Pruitt is the preseason favorite for the Heisman. Let's make sure he doesn't get it!

I really though this was going to be a throw away season, so I decided to redshirt my scrambling QB and focus on Colvin...
Well, I may have to reconsider that. We just upset Vicksburg 21-17!! :) Our defense was the key. I think I've finally got a good defense for against the computer. We'll see. Our offense started off horribly as the guy I thought would be our best received dropped ball after ball. We went into the 1st only down 3-0 as dropped passes repeatedly stalled our drives. However, our defense was ferocious and was forcing 3's and outs. Our offense got going in the 2nd quarter after our special teams recovered the rare muffed punt! We finally got our running game going and Colvin found Tucker for a TD pass. Tucker had a big day and he had another TD pass to put us up 14-3 with 1:50 to go... Then, Vicksburg's offense has their first big play of the day as Stokes broke a tackle and had a huge run against us. A play later he ran it in from the 2 himself. 14-10 and I knew we were getting the ball back but I decided to go aggressive even with only 50 seconds left... It paid off as I took a chance trying to squeeze a seam route pass to my TE who broke a tackle and rumbled 66 yards before being dragged down from behind. The next play we ran it in for a TD. We went into the half 21-10. We got the ball and promptly had dropped passes return. They were horrible today. We couldn't move the ball, but our defense stood firm. We went 3 and out again due to an easy drop on 3rd down. So frustrating. Furthermore, our defense fell apart and missed tackling STokes on 3rd and 1 and he ran it in for a 36 yard TD... 21-17 and I was nervous. But, we put together a long drive in the 4th. We ate up clock and got inside their 30. I went for it on 4th and 1 as I didn't quite trust my kicker from that range. They stuffed us! But, we played really great defense and forced a 3 and out as they couldn't complete hardly any passes against our defense today. We ran out the clock and took a knee inside their 20 to secure the 21-17 win :) Edit: Now, I need to decide if I'm going to undo the redshirt on my scrambling QB. He could be the difference in some games as a change of pace QB... hmmm. |

Nice, Cal right out of the gate. Time to make some noise with this run game.
|
Also, I gotta say playing games in this league has definitely been a welcome challenge compared to our juggernaut teams in the other leagues.
|
Yep. So far, it has been a challenge that I am not up to!
|
We came VERY close to upsetting the plague, but we had two key turning points. We had a ton of drops early that helped them build a 14-0 lead. We started out 1 of 8 due to drops.
We had a chance to tie it at 21-21 in the 3rd but we failed to run it in from the 1 on 4 consecutive plays :( We still had a chance in the 4th, but we failed to stop them on a 3rd and 17 as they converted a deep comeback route. We lose 28-21. :( |
Our receiving corps is not strong this season, so we were incredibly excited to get our hands on a speedy running back in recruiting. Well, he was so good in our game that I only ended up throwing the ball like 12 times. Despite missing most of the 4th quarter due to an injury, he busted out well over 300 yards on 25 runs. He actually was averaging over 15 a carry before they basically went goalline against us later in the game to slow him down. Our backup runners got some work too, but nobody matched up to the Juco transfer. Hopefully he stays healthy this season.
Oh, and we smoked Cal, 45-17. |

Incredibly frustrating game. Our offense was dropping pass after pass early. We held them to a FG and even with multiple drops managed to trade FG's early. But, then our drops cost us and we had to punt or turn it over on downs over and over again. Before I knew it, we were down 20-3 and that was with a stellar defensive effort. Early in the 2nd half, we got a pick 6 and I thought our defense was going to outscore our offense. We were down 20-10. They took a 27-10 lead on a quick strike TD. We went 3 and out. Then, we got another stop and I knew I had to do something so I put in backup WR's... and I found a WR who was catching everything. Suddenly, we closed the gap to 10. But, our defense was gassed. We couldn't stop them but suddenly my offense was on fire. We came within 3 and had a chance to take the lead but my one reliable receiver was out due to being tired and we dropped a critical 3rd down pass. I was deep in my territory and I knew I had to punt.
We forced them into a long 3rd down situation and then our gassed defense was gashed by a screen play for a 75 yard TD :( Our reliable WR came back in and we struck quickly to make it only down 43-38 but we were unable to get the onside kick and we lost. So frustrating, but I think I found a new starting WR. Edit: Just looked. 9 dropped passes officially and it felt like even more than that. |
Hey guys. Sorry, I'm the holdup this week. In general, my time for games is limited in the near future. My father is going to be living with us for a while as he looks for a place to live in CT. He just sold his house in NC and is moving to CT to be closer to my family and my brother's family. He arrives this Thursday. I'm very happy he's moving closer, but it will put a damper on my ability to play games in a timely manner for a little while.
Also, I'm in training for a marathon this fall, so my usual weekend play times are often going to be replaced by runs. |
That is awesome about the marathon! Good luck with the marathon training!
|
Thanks! We'll see how I do with structure. I tend to like to just do whatever run feels right. But it's a cool bucket list type of thing to try, so I'm giving it a whirl.

Hey EF. When is good for you? Monday night after 9:30 is good for me if it works for you.
|
I think I can do tomorrow night starting around 9:30 PM.
|
Okay. See you then.
|
GAME TIME
|
This RB we got is insane. We beat USF 70-13.
|
I might have to reschedule tonight. I had a very bad day at work and also feel like I'm coming down with something. There is a chance I'm going to pass out early tonight.
|
Quote:
Wow. That is quite the 2 star RB! |
It may be closer to 9:40 before I'm on.
Edit: Oh, didn't see your note before I posted. Game off? |
Sorry Kodos. My kid and I both got sick starting yesterday. I couldn't stay up until 9:30. I'm actually leaving work early as I'm feeling even worse today.
|
Sorry you and your daughter got sick. No problem with missing the game. It worked out okay for me, as I had other things I needed to do. I hope you both feel better soon.
|
Quote:
Yeah, juco speed back, paying dividends. |
I am back on my feet and feeling better. I could play this weekend, but with Father's day activities making things unpredictable, I'm thinking Monday night might be our best bet. Thoughts?
|
That could work. Or I could play early on Sunday (6 or 7 a.m.).
|
Quote:
Hmmm. Sunday morning might be one of the few days this year where my kid actually lets me sleep in past 7 so I hopefully will be sleeping until at least 8 ;) |
Gotta take those rare opportunities. :)
|
Every time I get one of those rare opportunities I stay up later the night before and screw myself out of the extra sleep anyway, heh.
|
Quote:
So are we on for tonight at 9:30? |
Quote:
Yes! :) |
A couple picks got us back in a game that started poorly for us, and our run game was able to carry us to a win against the Axemen. Good game, EF27.
