Werewolf VIII - A Transylvania Twist
 

Welcome to another edition of Werewolf. In this game you are trapped in a village, where violent storms have washed out the bridge. Darkness has descended upon this village as you wait for the bridge to be repaired. Darkness isn't the only thing that has descended upon this village however, as a creature walks among you. The dreaded nosferatu, or vampires, walk among you.


Here are the rules. there will be 15 players. There will be different roles for different people that I will randomly assign. Below is a list of the roles

Vampire
The vampire is a truly evil creature. Every night the vampires will pick one villager to feed on. This villager will then turn into a vampire. However, this fledgeling vampire will be quite weak and still under the control of his master. If all of the orginal vampires are killed, then the people turned into vampires will die also, as they are unable to survive without the guidance of their masters.

Villager
Just your standard Villager He has no special powers. Every day the villagers will pick on person to hang up and lynch.

Descendent of Belmont
The Belmont's have hunted vampires for many centuries. They have some extrodinary powers. Once a night, they can choose to view one person and determine if they are a vampire or not. If they are attacked by a vampire there is a 50% chance that they will kill a random vampire in the process. In either case, they cannot be turned into a vampire. If they are attacked, they will be killed in the process.

Doctor
The village doctor is skilled in the arts of healing. Having lived in transylvania he has seen people attacked by vampires. Every night he can choose a different person to watch over. If that person is attacked, he has a 50% chance to keep the person from turning into a vampire.

The Duke
A nobleman has found his way into this village. One time during the game, he can choose someone else to be lynched, even if he is the person chosen to be lynched..



Once we get enough people signed up we will begin. All day actions will happen at 7PM CST and all night actions need to be PM'd to me by 6AM CST.

One final word about PM's. Any PM's I send you are strictly for your eyes only. Under no circumstances are you to directly post a PM. The only roles that might reveal information are the doctor and the Descendent. You may reveal your visions, or who you saved. However, you have to do so in your own words. I reserve the right to immediately kill anyone breaking this rule :D

Tie's
In the event of a tie the tie breaker will be decided by the last person that voted for the tie.

Game Over
The game will end when all of the vampires have been eliminated. It will also end if at any point during the game, the vampires equal the humans.

Sure, I'm in. I seem to be dying on the first or second day lately, so I might as well play it gung-ho.

Wanted to take a break, but I can't. Damn you Peregrine ;).

I'm thinking there should be some other way to tell master and fledgling apart, some restriciton or incentive that would cause them to act different. This will turn into a guessing game real quick.

I hope to finally get into one of these. I'll play.

I'll play, but I think that prehaps this needs to be balanced a little more as it seems to be heavily in favor of the vampires. Prehaps the people they attack don't turn into vampires? Or prehaps a 10-25% chance? Or just the first 1 or 2 they attack?

Yeah, this is going to get impossbile real fast.

Are we going to know anything about the new vampires? If we can recognize a new vampire, that might help. It doesn't do any good to try to kill them since the master vamps need to be killed. They would be kind of like creature victims that are still alive. It might be interesting to have the walking (un)dead around.

That would mess with their voting though. Might as well flip a coin if you are a fledgling. Don't want your master to die, but you can't be obvious since everyone knows your allegiance.

I think the format is fine. As long as you lynch the original vampire you are golden.

I disagree. If every night somone converts it's going to be damn near impossible to vote out an original unless you get lucky the first couple of days. There will be too much confusion and resistance from the converted.

But we'll see.

Can the Descendent tell the difference between fledglings and masters? That would be an out.

I dont wanna give to much away. But I'll try to drop some clues if the vampire is a master or not.

Well, I know in this day and age of political correctness we are taught to respect the cultural differences between ourselves and the vampires, but I am a confirmed vampire hater and I'm proud to admit it. I don't know if that makes me a vampirist or not, but I don't care.

I say they should all be hanged or staked or whatever you have to do to kill them. So if you're a vampire, watch out! We're coming to get you.

I'm scared....when I heard someone mention vampires I went in search of garlic, but it appears Eaglesfan beat me to it. The market is trashed and he is up to his neck in garlic. The rest of us are screwed.

Night 1
You sleep uneasily tonight, not knowing what is in store for you. You wake in the morning and come down the stairs into the great hall. Everyone is here, and there was no signs of a struggle last night. Hopefully no-one was attacked.

Got to love the first day.

Should we all just vote for Lathum now and get it over with? I mean his posts make him sound like the Duke might as well give him what he wants. Something to remember is that the Duke could be changed to a vampire at any time.

Would he lose his Duke "powers" at the time of conversion?

Do we really think he would ask to be lynched if he was the Duke? He can use his powers when anyone gets lynched, so it doesn't really make sense to bring attention on himself. It is also too early for him to know who to go after. I don't know why he is talking wolf-like, unless he is going to claim to be a wolf and not a vampire? Do people smell tasty to vampires?

Ugh. The good news is, if we kill a master vampire.. any thrall vampires go up with him, so we have a chance, but every day, there likely will be another member of the vampiric gang up on us.

Our best chance at not being tasty meat with blood sauce snacks for a vampire is to vote your best guess in Round 1.. spread the vote around. Force the Vampires to ake themselves pick a person to vote for to save their own necks. If we spread votes out amongst five or six people, then they can't force a bandwagon onto a target of the vampires choosing.

So, to start things off at least for me..

I'm not sure about the spread it around plan. I'd rather vote out someone who isn't participating. I'd like to vote for blade - he has only posted once in the thread (to say he wanted in the game). My thinking is that if he's not a werewolf, at least we won't be voting out somebody who's actively helping.

If we all just spread the votes around, don't you think the vampires will do the same? And if there's a tie with one vote for everyone, the last person to vote really decides who's lynched all by themselves.

I'm open to trying out the strategy, I'm just not sure what it buys us. So, if I'm missing something, try to explain it to me.

I agree. I used to not, but Peregrine brought up a good point in the other WW thread.

No matter who you lynch, chances are they are going to be innocent and that it was a dumb reason to lynch them. Might as well vote off the guy who may go awol.

So anyone want to admit they are the vampire?

I like the strategy of voting for the non posters first. If you are gonna gamble may as well have some purpose.

I like the idea of keeping the vote spread out for now, so I'll follow that plan. Absolutely no rhyme or reason to this...

The odds are, if we spread our vote over 5 or 6 targets, each getting two or three votes each, that at least one Vampire will be caught in the net. They then will have to scramble to cover their asses, because with that many votes spread, all it takes is one or two switches at the end to catch em and stake em. That means they'll have to work together to make sure it's not one of them who gets it.

That's not so useful in Day 1, especially if we get a villager.. but day 3 or 4? Hell yes, it helps.

Also, it forces people to defend themselves... which is useful for catching people in lies.

Very true. However, if everyone votes "Randomly" it also makes the voting patterns more difficult to analyze. However, I definitely see the merits in this plan.

I'm voting this way for 2 reasons.

#1, either Lathum is the duke and to reveal himself like this means he MAY have some inside information. Don't know how this early, but just prehaps he does.

#2 Lathum tried to make us think he is the duke to throw us off and he is really a vampire. I have no clue, so at this point, both of these options sound good to me.

Well it would be a potentially very smart strategy to make such a comment and then just pretend it was a joke. I'll stick by my vote. I think you are a vampire trying to hide in plain sight as it were.

Sorry Lathum, got nothing to on right now, so I have to have something. To be honest I thought you were the duke, if something else comes up, I may just change my mind, it is EARLY in the game. My vote is far from set right now, I'm taking a hard look at Blade, something shady is going on there.

Everything I do in these games seem to be very suspicious, that's why I always die on the first or second day. :)

Honestly, I had nothing to go on, and didn't have time to pick apart everyone's posts, so I looked at the front runners, read that one dude's post, and picked you. Sorry, but dems, the breaks.

To add something, Lathum actually defended himself, which may, if he stays around hurt him in the long run. Blade comes in, sees he is getting voted heavily, and just plays it off. I may be changing my vote, as big of a no-no as that is.

Voting 8 minutes after Blade makes you look suspicous. When it is discovered I am a villegar you are gonna look, real, real, bad
