WW Amazing Race - Game Over (Moles Win & Team Reebok Wins)

Werewolf meets The Amazing Race. The players will be split into teams. Each player will have various abilities that will help them during the competition. Werewolf mechanics come into play as well as Team Play.

The size of the teams will be determined by the number of players. The wolves will be randomly chosen after the teams are chosen (the two selections will have no impact on each other).

There will be two deadlines. The first will be for the daily competitions (the race). The second will be for the lynch votes / night orders.

I will post more details when the time is available (at work but wanted to get the signups started so that we won't have much time between the games).

EagleFan 02-18-2011 09:26 AM

The Stages

Competition Stage

The competition stage will be the actual race. The race will be determined based upon the orders submitted by each team and will play out accordingly.

Each compeition stage will consist of a travel stage, a detour stage and a roadblock stage. For the competition stage that day the team will decide how much of the remaining "extra" energy to use, how many of the team's "aggression" to use and based upon the "clues" decide which detour to chose and who will perform the roadblock.

The team that finishes last in a stage may be eliminated from the race (pending randomly determined non-elimination legs). If your team is eliminated and you have not been lynched or "night killed" you will remain in the werewolf portion of the game. You will travel with the crew and stay with the remaining teams a the pitstops for the lynch vote and "nights". A player will only be completely eliminated if their team has been eliminated and they have been lynched or "night killed".

Travel

Each team may submit a plan for the travel stage. Aggression points used by each team will play into how the travel stage plays out. This stage will consist of getting to each section of the race and to the pitstop for that leg of the race. There is no "perfect plan" to use for this stage as teams may submit their own plan of action for what they want to attempt to do during the travel stage of the leg. Be creative and successful and it will pay off. Be too foolish and your team will lag behind.

Detour

There will be two choices for the detour. Each team may chose which choce they want to attempt and a plan for how to accomplish the task. Choosing the right path here may the differnence between winning and losing a stage.

Roadblock

A clue will be given for the day's roadblock. Based on that clue each team will chose one player to participate in the task. The player may chose how much of their extra effor to put forth on that stage. The result will be solely based upon the player's skill and effort used.

Skills

Each player will have skills rated in each of the following:

Travel: How well the player can travel and find a destination.

Eating: How well a player can handle eating foods, including those that are of the less than savory variety.

Water: How well the player can handle water type of events.

Physical: How well theplayer can handle the physical challenges along the race.

Mental: How well a player can handle mental challenges along the race.

Winning the Race

The first team to cross the final finish line first will be the winner for this portion of the game.

Werewolf Stage

The werewolf stage is like any other werewolf game. Lynch votes and night actions will occur.

Lynch

The player with the most votes will be lynched. A player that is lynched will be removed from the werewolf portion of the game but may participate in the Race as long as his (or her) team remains in the race. A player will only be compleely rmoved from the game once they are lynched (or "night killed") and their team is eliminated.

"Night Kill"

The team of wolves are actually a group of moles that have been planted by a rival reality show. Each night they may attempt to "convince" another player that they do not want to give it their all while playing ths game. They hope to lower the show's ratings and allow their rival show to become the best reality show on television, as far as ratings go. If they are successful their target for the night will lose all of their extra effort points and advances skills and will play the game out only with their brain. They may still participate with their team for as long as their team is still in the race and may stll be used for roadblocks and other strategy.

Tie Vote

A tied lynch vote will lead to no "lynch" and additionally there will be no night actions performed by either side.

Upon "Death"

Upon either a lynch or night kill a player's role and side will be revealed (participant or mole). They will only be completely out of both portions of the game if their team has already been eliminated. Players are free to continue to participate in all discussions within the thread until they are eliminated from both portions of the game.

Winning the Game

The wolves (moles) win the werewolf portion of the game if they achieve a 1:1 ratio. The network wins of the contestants can "lynch" all the moles.

Competition Deadline: 9 PM EST

Lynch/Night Order Deadline: 10 PM EST

Sides & Roles

The Network

All contestants that are not moles are on the side of the network. Thy are playing the game because they love it and want to see it continue (and of course because they want to get paid). There will be some network insiders planted within the cast as well. The number of insiders will depend upon the number of overall players. The following roles may be in the game as network insiders.

Talent Specialist - The talent specialist has an eye for what someone may be able todo or how they may appeal to the masses. Each night the Talent Specialist may research one player and learn if they are truly in it to win it (seer).

Promotion Specialist - The promotion specialist knows how to promote the show and how to get everyone pumped up about the show. The promotion specialist may select one patron each night to promote the show's qualities to. If the player that he has chosen is not a mole and is the target of the moles that night the player will not be talked into giving up on the show and will continue to play with all of their abilities (bodyguard).

Network Executive - The network executive has the ear of the network president and will be able to, once during the game, change the result of the "lynch" vote (duke).

Network or Mole

The following roles could be had by either a mole or network player.

Russell Wannabe - This player is a wannabe ruthless player. As long as this player is still "alive" in the werewolf portion of the game they may once setup a "Yield" on a leg of the race. This player will know the details of setting up a yield. The yield is not guaranteed to help the team and could backfire.

Rob Wannabe - This player is a glory hog and wants to be on reality shows as many times as is humanly possible. If this player is still alive in the werewolf portion of the game (and his/her team is still in the race) the Rob wannabe may once setup a fast forward on a leg of a race. Much like the yield, this is not guaranteed to help his/her team and could backfire.

The Sponsor - You love the money gained from advertising on the show and want the show to last longer. While there are already a couple pre determined non-elimination legs you have the ability to select another leg to be one as well (as long as you are still "alive" in the werewolf portion of the game).

Mole

The moles are the wolves of this game. They are playing the game and trying to convince the "non-moles" that they no longer want to "give it their all".

The Admiral - You are the leader of the pack. This power allows you to "take someone with you" if you are lynched and you will convince someone to give up their effort and no longer try their best at the race (brutal).

Cindy - Hey molie molie mole... you are a mole and it shows but everyone is so focused on the mole that they can't see that you are a mole. You will look like a regular contestant. (cunning)

Vanilla Mole - Standard vanilla mole (vanilla wolf). There could be more than one.

Me first, me first!

Lathum 02-18-2011 09:37 AM

how important will it be to be online at the competiton deadline?

Will you need to know the results of the competion for voting purposed?

Basically 6-7 is the worst time of the day for me so trying to determine if I can make that work.

It's basically two games in one. The race portion can be affected by the wolves but the vote deadline will play out like any other werewolf lynch deadline. Conditional orders can be sent in for that deadline and orders for the first deadline can be sent in at any time by anyone on your team.

EagleFan 02-18-2011 09:53 AM

dola: It's basically going to be similar to the Olympic game that I ran last year (except teams will be racing each other similar to Amazing Race).

The Amazing Race part will be the atmosphere.

Going to try to add bits of information about various "locations" in which you will be "travelling".

CrimsonFox 02-18-2011 10:45 AM

Oh yeah and barkeep is in too :D

In. Funny that you mentioned the Olympic game -- I was just cleaning out my PMs, and most of them were from that game. I read through the PMs, then read the thread, which was a lot of fun:

Welcome aboard. Always happy to have new players.

EagleFan 02-18-2011 05:52 PM

Added some of the rules; will continue to add rules and roles throughout the next day or so.

Basically it is a two part game. The Race and the Werewolf side. You may participate until you are eliminated from both sides.

I hope this adds a different flare to the game. Roles will lose their abilities once they are eliminated in the werewolf portion. They still my post and participate in the discussion until completely eliminated. It will be a challenge to balance out the werewolf side of the game because of this but I think that I have added enough to both sides to be able to balance this out.

I am taking what I did with the Olympics and took it a little farther (I think).

Darth Vilus 02-19-2011 01:01 AM

i assume the teams will be in pairs just like the show?

CrimsonFox 02-19-2011 02:15 AM

LOL! Eaglefan. when I read your rules, I hear Phil Keoghan's voice in my head! :)

Most likely but it depends upon the number of players.

I was thinking of going that route but I thought random would be the best way to go; I think that will even help in the long run (clique avoidance).

EagleFan 02-19-2011 12:50 PM

Added the roles to the second post.

My only concern with that is it may be easier on the teams if people can be paired whose schedules work well together. It may not be fair to put 2 west coasters together for example.

Understood. But it could still end up that way with picking the teams (those who don't end up getting paired up early) and then if someone gets stuck it will feel like the system worked againt them and for everyone else. In the case of random each person has the same odds of it being good/bad. :)

Looks like another nice big game. This is awesome.

EagleFan 02-21-2011 01:53 AM

Added the list of skills which each player will be rated in. Each player will be randomly given skill ratings (all players will have the same total "skill points" but how they are given out will be random. Each player may then chose to add 2 points to their total, to whatever skill they chose.

The race will begin in Las Vegas. But that is the only teaser gven about the race until it starts. :)

EagleFan 02-21-2011 01:56 AM

The game will begin at some point when the current game ends. At this time we have 16 players which would mean that we have 8 teams. It we could get 22 players and have a full 11 teams that would be great. :) Though 8 teams gives us a good number.

EagleFan 02-21-2011 02:02 AM

I have no clue (or any inside information) about how long the current game will take to complete but I am guessing that we may be able to start on Wednesday.

I'll start planning for a Wednesday start (with Thursday as day one) which will give everyone a chance to get their strategies together for the race and get their bonus points sent in.

hoopsguy 02-21-2011 07:09 AM

I generally haven't enjoyed this style of game as much as conventional werewolf - probably my bias against reality TV coming through, to some extent - but I'll give this one a try.

Autumn 02-21-2011 08:46 AM

I've only seen the show a couple times, could you explain what a Yield or fast Forward would be, in show terms?

In show terms, the fast forward will help a team bypass remaining tasks and go straight to the pit stop for that leg (giving them a nice boost in time).

The Yield may not be the right term anymore (I think it is changed now). It used to be a time penalty given to a team but now it forced a team to do both legs of a detour (thus giving them a potentially really bad time penalty.

Welcome. Still going to be a full blown werewolf game going on at the same time (only difference being that it won't be a "kill"). :)

EagleFan 02-21-2011 03:45 PM

Double dola. The Werewolf game will pretty much be standard with a major exception (that someone voted out may still participate in the discussion, but not the vote, if their race team is not yet eliminated).

Poli 02-22-2011 09:01 AM

I'm liking this turnout!

EagleFan 02-22-2011 11:03 AM

Needing one more person and I can start setting up the sides.

Room for one more?

The Jackal 02-22-2011 01:20 PM

Very nice player list. I've been debating signing up or not, thinking I need a bit of a break. If you get a 19th and need me to balance the sides I'll come aboard, otherwise I'll be happy to just read along.
