Oops, never mind. 11.

Autumn 06-08-2009 09:03 PM

The protection is a good point KWhit. I'm definitely not interested in "flooding" the jails (whatever that might mean) but I don't see any reason not to jail instead of lynch until we run across an exposed wolf. As was said, we will probably get a free scan or two out of it and that means we can buy some days back.

I think we can find a way or two to check the King's loyalties, but I'll talk about that later since it won't work if the wolves scheme for it.

I don't really like any of our choices, but a three horse race isn't a bad idea. Although I don't know where the vote count is.

You just added to the vote leader.

Ultimately, the King gets to make decisions on how to proceed with the people in jail. He can either hope his 20% scan comes into play and let them live or he can gas them. Pretty simple, and it is his call every day.

Meanwhile, I think that if there is not a person in jail and we don't have a clear lynch, or a 1:1 trade option available, then we stick someone in the jail and let the king decide how to proceed. Part of voting someone in as king is giving them some license to make decisions. And then we get to second guess them when they are wrong :)

Well... Yes, mechanically, it is the King's decision on what to do with the person/people in jail. But I think that without any evidence, it would be foolish for the king to kill someone just because he/she was in jail (I know, somewhat self-serving here, but the logic holds, I think). Because given enough time (on average 2-3 days), the aura of the jailed people will be identified. It makes no sense to kill the jailed people "just because."

I think as far as the numbers game is concerned, it makes sense to keep jailed people alive, the seer to scan people outside of the jail, and for the bodyguard to occasionally guard the jail alternating with guarding non-jail people of perceived importance. I think that is the way to mathematically maximize our chance of winning.

I think Pass is leading, but since you know, can you post the vote count :)

KWhit 06-08-2009 09:07 PM

And I thought I was leading.

Anybody have a vote count?

Telle 06-08-2009 09:07 PM

As of post #353

5 - Passacaglia jail - claphamsa (222), USFLTechmo (253), MartinD (261), hoopsguy (300), path (344)
7 - Barkeep jail - Lathum (177), RendeR (210), SnDvls (233), DaddyTorgo (235), saldana (278), Chief Rum (295), Danny (349)
1 - claphamsa jail - Passacaglia (238)
3 - KWhit jail - Autumn (254), Barkeep (275), Telle (321)
1 - KWhit lynch - Schmidty (298)

KWhit 06-08-2009 09:10 PM

Thanks. As is always the way with these things, I paid a lot more attention to the votes cast for me as opposed to the votes cast for others.

My points on the logic of what to do with the jailed prisoners is still valid, no matter who at this point goes in. I think they should be allowed to live for a few days to see what the king finds out about them. That's a pretty cool additional seer-type ability that we should try to maximize.

KWhit 06-08-2009 09:11 PM

What is the argument for Pass going to jail? I may have missed it in trying to catch up.

KWhit 06-08-2009 09:11 PM

Or is it just that he's another option as opposed to a runaway BK vote?

His schedule is bad for at least tomorrow was my recollection. I'll try and find the post.

Autumn 06-08-2009 09:14 PM

I think he was just Clap's standard vote and therefore was a target to avoid a runaway.

Schmidty 06-08-2009 09:18 PM

I'm still here and observing.

I'll be in and out until deadline. About to eat dinner.

Tyrith 06-08-2009 09:24 PM

A big part of me wants to vote for KWhit, because he seems to be okay with the idea of going to jail and I like to foster good feelings. And there doesn't really seem to be a good wolf play here unless he's The Dark One, because ultimately he's going to wind up bad - and we could find out as soon as tonight. The context of the day seems like it would make this a pretty silly sacrifice; he's not going to clear anyone. And it opens him up to all kinds of screwball breakout scenarios that aren't going to help suspicion wise.

This is the problem for me - my gut tells me KWhit is on our side. Why should I put him in jail, then? If I am going to go with my best instincts then I should vote for BK/Pass, but I have no instinct on either of them and that vote feels super random.

Sigh, I hate day 1.

Tyrith 06-08-2009 09:29 PM

And apparently Pass has does the same thing, just while I wasn't actively paying attention. Hrmph. Fine, I'm just going to go with the two horse race route, see if we can develop some information, because my inclinations aren't going to be much help right.

VOTE JAIL PASSACAGLIA

The Jackal 06-08-2009 09:31 PM

And I'm back. Long ass day. I'll be catching up now.

Passacaglia 06-08-2009 09:32 PM

Apparently my voice only resonates louder than hoops when we're both saying that it's okay to vote for us. If this were Day 7 or something, I'm sure you guys would all be listening to hoops more than me. :p

KWhit 06-08-2009 09:32 PM

So it looks like BK 7, Pass 6 for the jailing vote. I will throw this out, since I need to vote and don't want a tie.

Vote Jail Barkeep

Just so you know:

I will NEVER trust/listen to Hoops over you =)

Let's keep this close.

i just hit 77 last night and got cold weather flying and my explorer title while riding on my magic carpet immediately .. ok back to reading the thread

Tyrith 06-08-2009 09:47 PM

I'm a bit further along - I have typically been doing Ulduar 10 2-3 nights a week for the last month or so. Tomorrow night will probably be one of those nights, so I'll be paying a little less attention than normal.

Passacaglia 06-08-2009 09:47 PM

Do we know what happens if there is a tie?

Oh -- so KWhit gets lynched? :p

Passacaglia 06-08-2009 09:49 PM

If I recall, didn't dubb say he'll give the King ten minutes to decide or something?

The Jackal 06-08-2009 09:49 PM

So it's 8-7 BK?

Passacaglia 06-08-2009 09:50 PM

I guess the reason I ask is because, thinking of my schedule, I *really* won't have time to post much again tomorrow.

UNVOTE CLAPHAMSA JAIL
VOTE PASSACAGLIA JAIL

I believe so

Passacaglia 06-08-2009 09:50 PM

That said, I'm not loving that I made it a tie.

The Jackal 06-08-2009 09:50 PM

Good enough, I guess.

VOTE PASS JAIL

The Jackal 06-08-2009 09:51 PM

Has backwards squirrel checked in yet? I don't recall seeing a post

Passacaglia 06-08-2009 09:52 PM

He voted for me like 6 minutes ago, dude.

Schmidty 06-08-2009 09:53 PM

So Pass is up one now?

Passacaglia 06-08-2009 09:53 PM

Well, uh, thanks all. My only hope now is that I didn't make this a waste of a vote. But since we were all doing jail instead of lynch, there's probably not much to be gained from vote analysis...I hope?

RendeR 06-08-2009 09:54 PM

It's just jail -- I don't think anyone really cares.

I can change one vote to whatever I want, once per game.

Schmidty 06-08-2009 09:58 PM

And I don't like the jail thing (even though not having someone in jail takes away some of my power).

I know. But like I said, it's just jail. I just don't think it warrants the dramatics.
