1872 (Season 35) Thread
File is up. Consolidated FA through the start of FA tomorrow, as I'll be out of pocket later this week into next week and need to get it all done.
I'll do the lottery when I get a chance too, though the 1st and 2nd will go to San Diego & Nome respectively, since I stuck them at the end of the draft last year, so the lottery is actually for the 3rd pick through 16th |
A new file is up. Ramiro Gonzaga was in the file as a MR, which he isn't obviously and so, I fixed that.
|
Ok, 1872 Draft Lottery. Mostly out of laziness, I've just used the automated setup on draftpicklottery of 14-1 (since the 1st and 2nd pick are already doled out) for the teams based on worst record. Lake Tahoe and Winnemucca were tied for the last pick, so Lake Tahoe for two balls and Winnemucca got one. The worst team got 14 down through Winnemucca with 1.
|
1872 Draft Order
1. San Diego 2. Nome 3: Lake Tahoe 4. Cleveland 5. Las Vegas 6. Cuyahoga 7. Chicago 8. Worcester 9. St. Louis 10. Washington 11. Carolina 12. Columbus 13. New York 14. Los Angeles 15. Portland 16. Winnemucca 17. Brooklyn 18. Rio Grande 19. Memphis 20. Gettysburg 21. Grand Rapids 22. Wyoming Here's a link: with the specific breakdowns: 1.9 Washington (via St. Louis) 1.20 Los Angeles (via Gettysburg 1.22 Worcester (via Wyoming) 2.20 Los Angeles (via Gettysburg) |
Lake Tahoe had a 1.9% chance of getting that 3rd pick and managed to get it. Not bad.

File is up. Spring Training tomorrow.

So anyway, we'll see you all in a few days. |
Nice spring for Portland. Could this finally be the year the former expansion team reaches .500 for the first time?!?
The pitching will be the key as always. |
Ok, I'm finally back from this trip.

Portland is still in the hunt for a playoff spot for the first time in their 8 year existence. Barring an epic collapse the Thorns will improve on their previous record high of 79 wins and should finish above .500 for the first time in franchise history as well.

Noticed the improved Thorns doing well. Hope they keep it up, would be good to see you all finally emerge into a playoff squad. |

Subby, you need to trade with me. That's the problem. Wolvie did it, and look at his team! :D |

Los Angeles clinched the NL Salavisa ending a 2-year playoff drought and Brooklyn denies the defending NL Champs of a repeat playoff berth, clinching the NL Wild Card.
St. Louis holds a 3 game advantage after sweeping the Mucks for the AL Wild Card and has a magic # of 2. Grand Rapids also sits 3 back. |
Grand Rapids has one more game at Vegas and then travels to Portland for a 3 game set to end the year. St. Louis plays at home against Winnemucca and then has three more at Las Vegas to end their year. Winnemucca's dim playoff hopes rest on winning the rubber match of their 4-game set tonight and then claiming at least 2 out of 3 against division champ Rio Grande on the road.

FINAL REGULAR SEASON STANDINGS, 1872

ASSOCIATED LEAGUE STANDINGS |
Is this the year that Rio Grande wins a title? They're the only original franchise to never win a title and their last pennant came 11 years ago. The Villians are seeking their first pennant in LA after winning a title in Kauai 13 seasons ago. Memphis seeks its second title in 3 years and would tie Winnemucca for most titles in SLOP history if they claimed their 5th this year. Brooklyn and Gettysburg both want their 4th titles with wins in this year's series.
This is the first playoff appearance in two years for the reborn Aviators franchise, the fans there haven't really had to suffer much at all, though this overachieving squad is a shell of the olden days of that club. |
File is up. Congrats playoff teams. Post-season sim tomorrow night.
|
Gunning for that pennant.
Let's go Gomers! |
Holy Crap! Portland won just 2 of its last 15 games.
I suppose it didn't help that I fell asleep while making roster moves and didn't get an export in. Still a new high for wins with 80, but was hoping for so much more. :( |
Yes Virginia, there is HTML.
