Small game - Return of Werewolf Xtreme (Game over! Result in Post 401)
 

To fill the time until EF's game starts, I'll run a 9 player game that is a repeat of one Autumn did some years ago. The big change from most games is there are no roles revealed upon death. The first 9 to sign up will be in and off we'll go, start date of Monday or whenever it fills up.


Good Roles:

Seer - Each night receives a vision of a target player as 'wolf' or 'not wolf.' The seer receives a vision on Night 0 of one randomly chosen player that is 'not wolf.' Thereafter, the seer chooses which player to view.

Priest - Each night receives a vision of a target deceased player. The vision tells the priest that deceased player's exact role. The priest must choose one deceased player to view.

Hunter - If only two players remain in the game and the hunter is one of those players, then the good team wins even if the other player is a werewolf.

3 Villagers - Ordinary villagers with no special powers.


Evil Roles:

2 Werewolves - The werewolves know each other's identity, and may private message/chat without restriction. Each night the wolves choose one target player to kill.

Sorcerer - Each night receives a vision of a target player as 'seer' or 'not seer.' The sorcerer receives a vision on Night 0 of one randomly chosen player that is 'not seer.' Thereafter, the sorcerer chooses which player to view. The sorcerer wins if the wolves win, but counts as a villager for victory purposes. The Sorcerer does not know the wolves and the wolves do not know the Sorcerer.


Victory Conditions:

Good - All good players win if all werewolves are eliminated, or if the last two players remaining are the hunter and one werewolf. The sorcerer does not have to be eliminated in order for Good to win.

Evil - All evil players win if the wolves achieve parity: if at any time the number of wolves remaining equals the number of non-wolves remaining (including the sorcerer), evil wins. However, if one wolf is left with the hunter, then good wins. The sorcerer counts as a 'non-wolf' for these purposes.


DEADLINES

10 pm EST - Voting deadline. Any votes marked 10:01 or later will not count.

10:30 pm EST - Dawn deadline. Any night actions must be submitted by 10:30.

THE BASICS

Only edit posts within 5 minutes of the original post time and only for formatting / spelling / grammar.

No quoting of private messages.

No discussion of the game outside the thread.

Any player inactive for 36 hours will be replaced.

VOTING

Every day the village votes for who they wish to lynch. The player who receives the most votes by day's end will be killed.

In order to vote, please post your vote in bold and on a separate line.

You may change your vote at any time before the deadline by posting an unvote and then a new vote, both in bold. Nightfall votes must be unanimous and will still be dependent on my availability. Once you vote with Nightfall, your vote is locked and cannot be changed.

You may not self-vote or vote No Lynch.

Tie votes will be resolved by whichever candidate has the longest held vote on them.

REVEAL

Roles will not be revealed upon lynch or upon night kill. Only the Priest will have knowledge about the allegiance or role of any of the dead.

These small games are very tough. Only requires 4-5 votes to get lynched, and we've got two wolves and a sorceror. The benefit is the wolves are very hesitant to help each other out so if we can get one in the lead we're good. Vote movement tends to be more villager because of that.

Thinking about our roles... the only people who have anything yet are the seer and sorc, who have N0 negatives.

I presume the priest will get an order in to view the D1 lynch.

Seer has 2 wolves among a pool of 7 people and up to 3 scans left (presuming a lynch and NK every Day...).

Sorc has a pool of 7 in which to find 1 seer.

Does anyone have thoughts on the priest's approach for D2 and forward? (As in, is it more valuable to investigate lynch or NK victims?) ((As in, should he look for dead wolves or dead power roles? :p ))

Ironically, I don't have a feeling for this, despite being the one that has multiple times forced this role and ruleset on you unhappy FOFCers. I always hoped Hoopsguy or someone would figure out the ideal way to play with priest type roles.

I assume it's best to clear up our lynches, so we know if we hit a wolf, with the exception being if the priest thinks perhaps the wolves hit a seer. But it's going to be hard for them to play.

I'm inclined to agree with you. We _know_ which way NKs will count (for parity, at least--they could catch the sorc, hence my modQ). Lynches can run the gamut, though, so I think they're worth more information on the margin.

Then again, we might find that a very interesting day/night sequence makes it potentially rewarding to check the NK... But I'd lean toward the priest viewing daytime targets, I think.

I tend to lean towards the Priest scanning the lynch victims since without that knowledge it's going to be super tough to do vote analysis

So, if we don't hit a wolf (or sorceror) on D1 or D2 it'd look like:

2-2-1 .. still not endgame depending on what the priest has been able to reveal, since the sorceror doesn't know who the wolves are. but it'd be getting tight. this game has the potential for some very interesting scenarios

So if I'm village this time, that makes you a wolf.

Checking in before my commute home. I think priest scanning the lynch/nk victims gives us the most information. Not much content to go on yet but I will be on tonight.

Since the Priest can only scan the deceased, lynch or NK are the only ones he CAN scan...............

I mean is there any other way to become deceased?

Okay, done playing around (especially as my random vote was putting misfit in a tie for the vote lead).

I think the point of discussion was whether to scan lynchees or nightkill victims, as it would be one or the other.

As you note, there aren't really many ways to die.

Darn smartphone... I think priest reading lynch victims is the way to go. That way we will know if our reads are accurate or if we need to readjust.

Sorry timmae, I quit checking the thread earlier when nothing was happening. To be honest I was waiting for you to start posting so I could figure you out since you seem to be the only person I can (somewhat) accurately read.
