Draft Format

Opening Day is March 28



Hopefully we can do a soft start before then.

The draft will take place in this thread once the league has been set up. It is a snake draft.

The first pick each morning must be made by 10 am eastern time. Then the four hour clock will start for the next pick. Also, lets make the cutoff 10 pm eastern at night so if the final pick is made at 8 pm, the next person has until 10 am eastern time to make his pick. If most people in this league live in the western time zone or central time zone we could adjust this

On weekends the first pick must be made by 10 am eastern, we'll *go with a standard 4 hours with a 10 pm eastern time cut off.

If there are problems in that you know your pick is coming up but you won't be online, submit a list either to myself or to a proxy drafter for you. Otherwise, you will get the next player on Yahoo's list. Maybe pick someone who is on the opposite end of the draft from you so that you likely won't be grabbing from the same pool of players anyways.

Opening Day is March 28. If the draft is not complete by March 28 at noon, we will have a quick live draft via AIM (or a program people actually use) to complete the draft on Saturday April 4 at 7pm . Anyone who won't be able to make that will need to submit a list to me, a proxy, or have a proxy in chat (who is not in the league) to finish out their team.

If you miss more than 2 picks in the draft (i.e. time limit expired so a Yahoo rankings pick), particularly in the first 10 rounds, then you can be replaced as manager.

I hate to lay down some of these rules but we're going to be drafting over 250 players so we need to get it done in a timely fashion.

Just a heads up...I'm not sure I'll be able to do it this year. If someone is on the wait list and can take my spot, you should do that. I thought I would be able, but it's looking more and more doubtful.

Sure why the heck not. This will be my only league this year which might be a good thing.

We are also still in really good shape. Opening day is still over a month away. If we can get one more soon then we will be right on pace to finish on time.

If you can't find a 12th by the end of this weekend, and want to get rolling, I'll rejoin. I just don't know about my ability to give the league my full attention throughout the year; a lot of changes are coming in my life (good changes).

How does head to head work in this league? I thought maybe it was like fantasy football, but I don't see the point values anywhere.

It has been a few years since I played fantasy baseball. :D

head to head by category....each category counts as one win.

So in any given week you can maybe win 14-0 or lose 12-2. There are ties as well. Like when both teams get 0 stolen bases lol.


There is an innings pitched requirement. We lowered it . I forgot what the number is but if you don't hit the required iP for the week you lose all the pitching categories. This is to prevent people just from loading up on closers to get saves whip and era.

Definitely a bit of strategy. Some people will punt saves and stolen bases because they are isolated categories, but others will load up on it thinking if they can dominate those two categories ,then if they just split the rest then they win the week.

top 6 teams make the playoffs.
